We have just come back from our first camping trip and feel we choose an excellent site, pity we couldn't have chosen the weather.
The site is grassy, we had plastic pegs that were supplied with the tent, but bent a few as ground bit stony below the surface.
The staff were really friendly, informative and gave us the choice of pitch, selecting the nicest ones for us. As it was starting to rain even offered us assistance in getting our tent up for the first time. They gave good directions how to get to the shop and pub through the fields avoiding the busy main road. The shop stocked the basics, newspapers, selection of gifts and you could get a coffee too.
The tide times were available every day on the reception hut along with the weather forecast. You could also buy gas and hire the icepacks for £1 deposit and 20p for each freeze.
The toilet/shower blocks were good, cleaned daily and in the centre of the site. The water was always hot. There was separate drinking water available.
We booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 2 as we endured 18 hours of constant rain, couldn't make the most of the lovely walks over the marshes as we didn't bring wellies with us.
As it was damp when we stayed we did have a problem with earwigs, they didn't mange to get into the tent as we kept the mesh windows closed at all times.
Looking forward to going back for another visit to do those lovely walks, just need to choose better weather!

We stayed here during the May/June half term holiday and were very pleased with the price. We have a large tent, children 5 and under and dogs are free and so it was only £18 a night.
We had been advised not to pitch too near to the toilets due to the noise from the hand dryers but typically as the site was very busy we were allocated a pitch right in front of them. However, we didn't find them to be a nuisance at all.
The site is very basic which we were expecting and normally prefer however we were disappointed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the toilets. They could really do with overhauling with chipped basins and hopeless showers. I know that the water pressure was low that week but the water trickled out of the head and down the pipe - hopeless for our children on 3 and 5.
On a more positive note the site is very family friendly and was quiet at night. You are a five minute walk from a fantastic crabbing bridge and my husband and eldest daughter took the dogs for lovely walks each morning straight from the site before any one else was up.
Holkham Beach is beautiful and our girls has a lovely time splashing at Burnham Overy Staithe.
The Red Lion in Stiffkey is a lovely pub and I would recommend booking if you want to eat there. They had a good menu and catered well for the kids. The nearest supermarket is a well stocked Nisa (or Costcutter!) in Wells and the butcher there did delicious barbecue food. Good Fish and Chips as well.
If the weather is good this is a great part of the world and a good but basic site.

Nice site, a basic farm field with good brick toilet / shower / laundry/washing up block
Its well off the road with rather ugly grey farm buildings as you go in, and a bit slopey in places but the beauty of the site is in the sea views across the marsh lands, and the close proximity to the footpaths and coastal path to east and west, which are right there at the bottom corner of the field, couldn't be better, so pitch in that direction and you wont notice anything else
Lovely staff friendly and helpful, warm welcome and clear guidance on which pitch is yours, book early and maybe try requesting views away from shower block on a level as possible surface
The wide sand/dirt footpath that wends it way out through the salt marshes, goes as far as the eye can see. Walk or cycle the coastal path right to Wells next to the sea 3.5 miles away, which is fun for kids crabbing in the harbour, kiss me quick shopping or good food like fish and chips. Or Left towards Holkham and beyond. Some people walk one way and bus it back, which stops very close to the site
Hurray for recycling, there was a choice of well marked bins if you want to separate tins/paper/glass/plastic.
The atmosphere was great, lots of people kids and dogs all getting along and I wasn't kept awake by anyone, it all seemed to settle quiet by 10:30.
I recommend Blakeney for fish and chips at the Kings Arms pub where you can take the dog inside after a walk along the beach coast path to see the sunset boats and birds, take the camera and binoculars!

This is our second stay. Fabulous site, staff still friendly and helpful, that could be because they are the same lovely people as last time.
Facilities very good, hot push button showers, excellent washing up facilities, laundry room and offers charging service for phones, ice pack freezing.
Not so busy this time we stayed in Sept last year so we seemed to be the only tent unit in our area.
Lots of lovely walks to do and a great site if you're a twitcher.
We would definitely stay here again.

Just returned from 3 nights here over the royal wedding weekend.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful, whether it was on the phone or checking in, and personal service in showing you where to pitch and how much room you could have.
There are pitches, but I think they are loosely marked so if it wasn't busy they may give you more room - although the site was full it was definitely not over crowded.
The sites facilities were very good - sparkling clean even though there were copious amounts of muddy kids that had been in the salt marshes that are at the bottom of the site.
Beautiful surroundings, an owl hooting in the trees last night and the sun going down with the sea in the distance.
Lovely walks (our dogs loved it !)and plenty of proper 'kid' things to do - climbing trees in the small forest, crabbing in the marshes and cricket with what it seemed every small child on the campsite !
We will definitely return.

We love High Sand Creek. Great site, perfect location right next to the marsh, beautiful views. Shower block generally clean although the dyson driers are too loud and a bit unnecessary. Good washing up facilities and a clothes drier.
Lots of families (including those who felt it appropriate to play behind our tent at 6am!) and safe wooded areas for children to play.
Some staff lovely and helpful, one in particular was extremely rude and unpleasant for no apparent reason - turned out to be a misunderstanding but there was no apology although he was perfectly pleasant for the remainder of our stay. Very odd. We've been coming to the site for over 25 years and it was quite off-putting, to be honest. Hopefully it was a one-off but left us feeling a bit disconcerted.

We stayed here at Easter 2011 for 3 nights. We had a really large pitch (near the barns) facing the farm. We have two young children (ages 2.5 and 4.5) who both entertained themselves on the farm road on their bikes and scooters. They strayed a couple of times on to the farm yard area and were quickly asked (politely) by the campsite owner/manager to stay out as the farmer gets quite upset otherwise.
The facilities are very basic, just one block of wc/shower/sink facilities, but this is adequate for the size of the campsite and are kept clean. I can imagine the Dyson hand driers could be quite noisy at night, but we weren't near the toilet block so they didn't disturb us. The site was fully booked but we never had to wait for a shower or toilet. There is a laundry room with one plug socket for those who can't leave the hairdryer behind!
The older children had great fun rolling in the mud at Stiffkey Salt Marshes, which are only a short walk from the campsite. I highly recommend this for the children (and grown ups!)!
The office/shed has a small freezer where you can hire ice blocks at 20p a time (£1 deposit).
The campsite was very quiet, especially at night time. The general feeling of the campsite was very relaxed. We'd definitely stay again.

Stayed for two days over Easter and can't fault really. Staff friendly and helpful. Shower blocks clean and no excessive noise at night.
Good access to coastal path for access to Wells and Morston.
Local shop very quirky but good and the village pub is good. A big plus for me was that the pub allows dogs.
Did not have my kids with me but sure they would have enjoyed.
Will definitely return.

Lovely site, not cheap but a great location behind the saltmarsh and good facilities mean you wont mind paying for it.
There is no road noise as the track beside the campsite only goes to the saltmarsh so doesn't get much traffic.
The main block can get busy but if you go outside peak times it is fine. The dyson hand driers are a novelty at first but can be noisy late at night.
Staff were friendly and helpful and time was spent re-seeding areas of dead grass after campers had vacated.
Definitely a site to visit if you have not already I am sure we will be back again soon for another relaxing break.

We got into camping last year and chose this site based on the write up in Cool Camping for kids as we have three young boys.
On arrival, the guy at the hut was really lovely and helpful - we arrived on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday and had booked the very last pitch. He showed us where it was, and although a good size and flat, it was too close to the toilet block - the Dyson hand dryers are like jet planes taking off. By the trees or on the lower slopes of the site would have been better.
It was full, so quite cramped, would have been better at a quieter time of year. As mentioned by others, the marshes are brilliant and we had some lovely times 'crabbbing' from the bridge.
We spent four nights there - was only going to be three, so that speaks volumes for how nice it is when the sun shines - which it did on the day we were due to leave, so we paid another £20.50 for a family tent.
Very friendly staff and would go back again, probably at a less busy time of year.
