Finchley campsite, was great quiet and peaceful.
Clean toilets and showers, beautiful location.
Ideal as a base to explore Durham and surrounding area.
Would definitely book again when next visiting the North East.

Everything about Finchale Site/ Abbey is first class and puts customers first.
The river adds to the scenery and is so relaxing hearing the water flowing.

We had been given a plot number before we arrived so got settled quickly.
Showers and toilets clean and tidy and site itself was immaculate. The shop/cafe was very reasonably priced and useful.
What makes this site special is the stunning setting with the priory and the river running through.
We had a very relaxing couple of days and would have stayed longer if we could.

Stunning location, situated on the banks of the Wear.
Very welcoming couple, who booked us in on the telephone on the morning of our arrival.
Shower block was spotless, warm and inviting.
We were allocated a lovely, flat hard standing and all positions had electric hook-up.
Peaceful site and it was made more interesting by the visit of ducks and Guinea fowl.
Entrance to the adjacent Priory was included in the very reasonable price of the accommodation.
Would recommend this touring site very highly.

We booked on here last minute due to everywhere being busy for the platinum jubilee. I'm so glad we did.
The site is immaculate with excellent, clean, well maintained facilities.
Check in is contact free. Our pitch was nice and flat. We had a lovely view of the Abbey. There is nice walks nearby over the river where our dog off the lead and had a good run about.
Foundis a small cafe on the site but no shop. Sainsburys is about 2 miles away, the people in the cafe said they can't compete with them so why try.
We found this site by chance but would highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

As you approach the site, you think wow this is stunning. The scenery is lovely.
But I buy a hard standing pitch because I expect it to be flat and a good size. Most of the pitches slant from front to back and side to side and are smaller than the base of the van.
Also for £29 a night the 10 amp electric is rubbish.

When I booked this site I didn't release it was an adult only site and I have to say it will be the last time
All I heard was yapping dogs all the time also not on leads I would rather hear children running around enjoying themselves.
Also I didn't think much of the shower block it wasn't to standard
For the price and if you are thinking of travelling to Durhan by bus forget it few and far between and no Sunday service
