Depressing, given its potential.
Aber centre walkable.
Big shop is Morrisons but need to drive, or others in town centre.
We found the local pub (first on right, before bridge, going down to Aber) absolutely smashing for friendly welcome with locals.
The site had too many skips etc, little atmosphere, adequate sanitary facilities, but the hard standing was generally an expensive car park. I suppose it was Mid-September. At the price though, next time might be bed and breakfast.

We've just spent our first camping trip with our two little ones at the Aberystwyth Holiday Village.
We wanted a little support and facilities for our first trip, so we chose this site.
Initially I was a little surprised at the price of our pitch we paid £78 for 3 nights with hook up, I must be out of touch with current rates however you pay for the facilities I suppose.
The pitching areas we found to be a little tatty, with obvious areas of cleaned up dog foul and not very level. Also take some heavy duty tent pegs as the ground is extremely stoney.
The toilet blocks seemed to be kept clean and the washing up area etc basic.
The children's play area was really quite rubbish and mostly used by bored teenagers.
The shop was very well stocked and the prices reasonable.
The swimming pool was fine for a quick swim with the children but again basic with the changing area a little shabby.
The entertainment facilities are in our opinion, as we expected, a little chavtastic but if you enter into the spirit of it all, it's fine for a few nights. We probably won't go back but we had a good maiden voyage.

Have recently returned from this campsite and wasn't sure what to expect having read some reviews on this site. We used a tent without hook-up and could basically pitch wherever we liked on the non electric area.
Some of the issues mentioned by previous reviewers have obviously been addressed - soap was available on all but one of my visits to the loo! However, I agree with some previous comments that the site is tired looking, in need of some tlc - things like toilet blocks needing painting and the grass could do with being cut more often. The whole of our first week, there was a very large skip which was full to overflowing and it wasn't emptied for a week.
There were 4 showers in the ladies block we used which hadn't much changing room and two wall hooks and these were always very hot, in fact uncomfortably hot at times (and not adjustable) but there was never hot water in either the loo sinks or the washing up area (3 sinks under a canopy for the whole site - I never had to queue although the caravans probably wouldn't have used them). On one occasion I went to the sinks to find a little pile of egg, bacon rinds and basically someone's leftovers but this says more about the previous user than the campsite (although in saying that, a bin nearby would be good). We ended up boiling water in the tent to do the washing up most days. Entertainment was not to my taste but others seemed to enjoy it, so each to their own.
For information, the bar and cafe only accept cash and there is no cash machine on site. Basically I suppose I was disappointed that there was no WOW factor to the campsite but this could be easily remedied with hanging baskets and a better play area and there wasn't exactly a warm welcome - again this could be remedied with a welcome pack giving details about the site and surrounding area. There seemed to be two main cleaners who were there all the time (but didn't smile the whole time we were there!) doing a good job and one man in particular who I saw on everything from security/delivering loo rolls to the toilets/ using a strimmer once and generally a 24hr worker! There was no entry system so basically anyone could have come on site to use the facilities or for some more sinister purpose - a bit worrying these days. I also have to mention the seagulls - if you don't mind being woken every morning at 5am, then the nearby trains! Equally night-times could be a bit noisy at club closing time!
On the plus side, there was a very well equipped shop with a wide range of camping/caravanning accessories and I didn't think it was too dear although it didn't open until 9am and seemed to close fairly early. The pool and pool-table were well frequented by my two sons and to be honest without these my sons would have been bored. In saying that, we tended to use the site mainly as a base for exploring the surrounding area: New Quay is lovely and only about a half hour away, Borth is also not far although nothing much there after 6pm and the ride to the Devils Cauldron on the train is a must for the scenery although the walk down and back to the waterfalls is not for the faint-hearted!
Lidl, Iceland, Morrisons, McDonalds, Co-Op, Wetherspoons are not far away along with some good fish and chip shops. If you find the car parks opposite the Co-Op, use the long-stay as it's £2.80 for all day and cheaper than £3.40 for 4hrs in the short-stay!
All-in-all, the site wasn't bad and with a little tender, loving, care, could be good.

Aberystwyth Holiday Village, Ceredigion is a great site - all the facilities you could want.
The entertainment, shop and pool was not open at the time we stayed for a week, but that didn't spoil the break. Staff very nice. About a 15 min walk into Aberystwyth. The driveway out of the site is quite steep for walking - a bit of a hard slog, but it's good exercise I say.
We were in our motorhome and we like to walk whenever we can. Aberystwyth town is always nice. Good shops, cafes, great to walk along the front. The cliff tram is something else. What a view.

Ok we visited this site for 4 days why we visited our daughter at the university, 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 16. The site is situated just outside the main town and only 10 minute walk to the local harbour and about 15 mins to the main town itself. The site has 2 shower blocks which considering how busy the site was were spotless 95% of the time and the showers where always a good temp warm.
We had a large tent, gazebo, car and trailer and still had plenty of room, on a electric pitch with lots running and never tripped out once.
The site has a small arcade and 2 bars and mini cafe, the bars are ok for occasional drink but that's about it, they had entertainment when we was there but that was pretty poor. A small indoor pool and a shop on site that has there usual high price mark up on everything.
A 5 minute drive takes you into town where there's an iceland, morrisons and a few other major stores where you can get all your needs a lot cheaper. Out and about there's a few nice sandy beaches around a 10 mile drive as Abers beach is shingle. Aber is a quiet laid back town with a small pier, old castle ruins and that's about it, so if your taking kids camping for a lively seaside holiday this may not be for you, there's no fairs, funbaths etc.
The campsite is situated in a good place and we had rain only 1 night and the site drained very quickly. For families looking for a quiet child friendly site I think this is ideal, more for younger children as I feel teenagers would soon be bored. Would I visit again, probably not, but that's more because my own family like a bit more to do out and about. Would I recommend to others, definitely yes, there's places that the site can do to improve but all in all a good spacious, child friendly clean site.

I will try and make this sound as positive as I can. Having just returned from Easter weekend at this site I would say it is nowhere near my ‘Must return’ list, but was not that bad that we would never stay there again.
The positives first.
There are 2 toilet blocks which were always spotlessly clean. The shop on site sells everything, including a good range of caravan spares and camping accessories, albeit quite heavily marked up. Nice indoor swimming pool, but Olympic size it is not. Large arcade with 4 bowling lanes, 8 pool tables, 3 air hockey tables and an array of other games machines. Two sections to the club, with the entertainment room being separate from a pub type bar. Beers at normal pub prices.
Now the negatives.
Whilst the site cannot be held responsible for the weather, bear in mind that the camping area is surrounded on 3 sides by a river, so the ground will be soggy.
The grassed areas resembled an unkempt bog while on hard standing you had the choice of a tarmac car park or a vast expanse of compacted hardcore (not gravel).
The electric supply tripped out a few times daily, which was to be expected given that the infrastructure for it’s supply consisted of many trailing leads snaking their way over the field to junction boxes sat on milk crates (Do you get the picture?).
The place has a general run down and uncared for feel about it.
Not a site that we will be rushing back to.

I have been to this site numerous times and the venue is really good. It has everything you could want and is literally a walk away from town.
In fact it was so good I booked it for a friends birthday. We were an all-male tent but didn't see that as a problem given it was october, not half term and when we got there the site was empty. I'd also been 3-4 times before and had often seen single sex groups.
Unfortunately, I got some 18 year old telling me that my booking was now invalid and he wouldn't let us stay. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told he was 'in a meeting' (seriously). So after travelling all that way we had nowhere to stay. The only thing to his credit was he gave me directions to another site which (thankfully) let us stay, thus ensuring it was not a completely wasted trip.
As I said, the site is spot on, the bar is good and it is a walk from town, but I can never go back due to the above which is a shame. They just need to ensure they do not have 18 year olds in charge of the site.

Just got back from a weeks holiday at this site , the weather was great , rained 1 day out of 7 which is good for the uk . The site itself is fine for a cheap & cheerful holiday , paid £150 for 1 week stay which is cheap in August . Had a large pitch with plenty of room as the site was busy but not to busy . The pool was smallish but never to busy what ever time of day we went . The clubhouse was ok with the dj doing a good job keeping the kids happy , a good plus point was a bottle of carlsberg larger £1.20 . The cafe/chippy was ok but you have to wait a while for your food & most of the food gets nuked . A very good chippy is a couple of mins drive away as is Morrisons & Macdonalds .
The beach in town is ok but not much sand but a 15 mins drive to Borth there is a very large sandy beach just keep driving a long the front past the golf course & you will find parking for £2.00 all day. If you want a cheap not too many frills holiday in a nice part of the country & don't mind cold showers (never had a hot one - use the swimming pool) you could do a lot worse than here. If you are towing a van coming to this site don't use your sat nav , come via Oswestery, Welshpool, Newtown & you will avoid hills all the way with some scary narrow roads we found this out on the way a total nightmare .

Stayed on this site for 2 nights in a particularly hot weekend, so became very busy.
Site is mixed, with tents, campers and caravans mixed on the field. Due to it being busy, we were pitched pretty close to the neighbours
Site has a club house, cafe, swimming pool, large games room and shop and is located closer enough to walk into the town. There are 2 toilet / shower blocks in good distance and never saw a queue for either.
I did have some concerns though. The grass was long (although guess could be difficult to keep cut), the toilets / showers, although cleaned very regularly could do with updating. The locks on the doors were stiff which gave me concerns of my daughter getting locked in the loo's! Showers were nice, although could not work out the temperature control and when I showered they were a bit too hot!
The swimming pool was a good size, although freezing! Had to take my 2 year old out quite quickly after she started shivering and her lips were going blue! There is also only 1 shower in there and no benches to get changed, just a few plastic chairs. Thus is became very crammed if anyone else came in!
In the club house, they hold children's entertainment with Pete. Have to say he was very good with the children, although I was disappointed that it did not start until after 8pm, which I think is a little late for kids entertainment.
There is a children's play area which is worryingly close to the entrance and therefore quite a few cars would pass by. One morning my husband was also picking out broken glass from the area - although again, there was a cleaner cleaning up the area quite early.
The shop on site is well stocked for caravaning and camping equipment and the lady in the shop is very knowledgeable and very nice.
In general the site is OK if you are looking for a busy and lively site.

Its a big site the toilet blocks are in need of an update, the showers were luke warm and had no pressure. The swimming pool was cold and is basic. The play park had a sand pit. The kids evening entertainer {pete] was good with the kids, but the main entertainment were pub singers. The drink prices were good,
There's no control on kids kicking footballs anywhere and any time they like, If you got small kids you don't want youths kicking balls around at half ten at night
