What can I say about this site.
Shameless under canvas. Don't get me wrong we're not snobs but expected a little more for the money spent bearing in mind we arrived as the pitch prices dropped from peak to low.
Packed in like sardines.
Poor toilet facilities.
Poor wash up areas.
However the children did enjoy the children's rides and spent many hours entertained.
Didn't use the bars.
Will I return again? Not likely.

Planned to stay here for 5 nights but ended up staying for 10 as we enjoyed ourselves so much. Kids truly loved it and would definitely come back again. Touring park, although busy was not at all roudy and was very child friendly.
Indoor swimming pool at the touring park, and also an outdoor water park which the kids loved and it stays open until 9pm when the water is turned off. Beware of the barrel at the centre of the water park as I went to help my youngest down the water slide and the barrel dumped it's load of water right over me. It was freezing, but all part of the fun, so seeing as I was soaked I just got stuck in and played in the water with my kids.
Campsite looks like it has been newly tarred in the last few years and the toilets were a little dated but were quite clean. Water in the showers was roasting hot, infact probably a little too hot for my youngest kid, so after the 1st shower I showered her using the caravan shower.
There is really good security at the site and it is a little like trying to get into fort knox having to show passes and wear wrist bands etc, but this is a good thing as we felt very safe, and there are security guards patrolling the site all night. Staff at the entire resort are really friendly, and can't do enough to help you.
Very well stocked shop although it is a little pricey so we shopped at Morrisons in nearby Malton. Eden camp is also very close and definitely worth a visit.
The theme park and zoo are excellent and did not feel too crowded and it was not often that we had to queue for long to get onto a ride. Also loads of rides for younger kids as well. I have been to many theme parks and I honestly have to say this place was the most spotlessly clean park I had ever been too.
The zoo is good and I booked my oldest daughter on 'be a zoo keeper for the day' She got to hand feed Penguins, various farm animals, Giraffes, Hippos, Ostriches, Rhinos, Meerkats, Coaties, Otters, Mongoose's, Walaby's and her favourite was of course the Lemars. In addition to this the zoo keepers were very friendly and showed her the lions, tigers, kangaroos, and a whole host of other animals. Was an experience she will never forget.
If visitng it is well worth going to the Bongo dancers, sealion show and bird shows at the zoo.
They have entertainment every night but we were so knackered after spending all day in the park that we just chilled at night and went to the water park.
Highly recommended if you like an active holiday and so much for the kids to do because once you have paid for your entry fee to the theme park, you can go back and forth as many times as you like for the duration of your stay.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and can honestly say we will definitely be returning again, this is the most child friendly site we have stayed. The touring site was right near all the facility's, even though it was very busy we found a pitch pretty quickly, the swimming pool is on the touring area and there is an outdoor water park the kids could go in whenever they wanted weather permitting. The theme park is a decent size and it never felt over crowded even though you have day visitors as well and the zoo was lovely yes there aren't many big animals but still had some lovely animals and it was nice not having to rush about in one day. The entertainment staff were fab they did a pantomime Aladdin which was really funny and they had jeff dingle on after it who was a contestant on American idol just gutted didn't get to see the take that tribute as we went home that day, even if you don't like theme parks there is still plenty to see and do, the showers were adequate and the toilet blocks were clean. All in all a great family holiday yes the prices can be high but there are a lot of offers you can use to get a nice cheap holiday if you look for them.

After some of the previous reviews, wasn't sure what to expect, but ended worrying needlessly.
All the roads must have been re-tared as all were perfect. We were near toilet block 3, which again looked as if it had recently been updated.
Kids loved the outdoor wet play area in the scorching weather we got, theme park and zoo were good and no noise at night from the campsite.
The touring area was reasonably quite during early July, and like us most visitors seemed to be Scottish.
I'm not sure I would feel as positive if site was full, as there were another couple of unused tent fields, which I think would just have been too many people if full.
Kids want to go back next year and I'm happy to do so - out favourite site of the 3 we visited in the York area.
Ohh, one thing we weren't aware of, and had to take a last minute diversion is that Sat nav tried to take us via Sutton Bank, where caravans are banned, so if you are travelling from North east direction, check your route

After reading other reviews we were a bit unsure if we should book. Anyway the weather forecast was good so we booked using a deal out of the newspaper, free camping just had to purchase a pass for the park (£100) plus £5 per night for EHU.
Got there early got booked in and drove down to the site which was quite busy, found our own pitch between toilet block 2 and leisure centre, level and dry. Ground soft but held pegs fine.
Toilets and showers were clean, cleaners there from 7am till 6pm, used block 3 for showers they had a dividing wall between shower and dry area, which block 2 didn't have so no where to keep things dry.
Swimming pool was good if a bit cold, a couple of slides and they had a inflatable assault course out, which the kids loved,
Plenty of life guards on duty.
The theme park and zoo are great loads too do for all ages, didn't eat there but had a couple of beers not over priced.
When to the Zoo bar and The Club a couple of nights very good entertainment for kids and adults.
All the staff we encountered were polite and helpful.
Overall a good site, would go back and recommend.

Just returned from the Bank Holiday weekend. We only booked a short break as we were a bit nervous of the reviews we had read. We needn't have worried.
We were welcomed on arrival, and given clear instructions, telling us to choose our own pitch.
The roads at this site have now all been completely relaid, and are looking good. The shower block 1 is current being completely refurbished.
The other blocks were dated, but clean. Hopefully these will be next on the agenda.
We made use of the gym and swimming pool, which were of good quality.
Never used the club, but didn't have any problems with noise at closing time.
And of course, being able to come and go into the Park was awesome, especially for our three children!
Will we go again. Absolutely.
Well done Flamingo Land. Keep up the improvements

Lets do the positives. Good friendly check in and nice bar and club. It has a decent cost cutter shop, that's where it ends.
You get to the touring, camping area, what a mess. Holes in the road, narrow roads. Mud mud everywhere drainage was non existent, then you have to try pitch somewhere without muddy puddles. Impossible to do. The so called hard standing is far from it.
The toilet blocks old and cold but clean. For showers well. They may as well be in the open air. Never seen this set up in 30 years of caravanning. The cubicles are large but the door leads not into a heated building but to the outside. What ever the temp outside is the temp in the shower. Everyone commenting on this.
Will I come again. No not until this has been brought upto modern standards. If the site was cheap fair enough but its not. Sites at a quarter of the price have hard standing and toilet/shower facilities of a much higher standard. Come on flamingoland get yourselves sorted. Very disappointed

We went here using the Daily Star free camping voucher and had an absolutely fantastic time indeed.
We were told to pitch anywhere on the right but ignored what we were told and headed straight for the overflow field right next to the golf course and found ourselves a lovely level pitch with EHU pretty much as far away as you can get but this worked out great for us.
The weather was fine bar one day when there was a torrential downpour thunder the lot but this was through the night and as already stated some of the tents next to block 1 were completely ruined as the tractor was there bailing the water out as this particular corner next to the road resembled a lake, so glad we weren't pitched up there.
The toilet block next to us was average but adequate shall we say, always had toilet roll although a decent plug in the sink wouldn't go a miss. Showers were fine for us for a quick wash and the pot washing sinks we found fine providing you could get the plug to stay in lol.
As for the theme park itself it's great as long as you get there at 9;30am as come 1pm you'll be queueing for an hour or so, this is the best time to see the shows we found.
We only ventured twice into the evening entertainment, its just the usual big fish little fish cardboard box type of stuff and gets absolutely rammed full, although if you walk through the park to the plaza there is entertainment here also and almost empty and easy to find a seat, kids went here with wife as I sat next door watching the match in pitchers bar.
In summary we'd definitely return here as we all had a great time and made lots of new friends in our field where we spent most nights sitting outside our tents and just chatting. Most people were tucked up in bed by 11pm and we slept peacefully each night.
Highly recommend to anyone and fingers crossed the newspaper offer returns next year as well.

Just returned from a 7 night stay using the Daily Express offer, we had a brilliant time.
Staff on reception were very helpful and checked us in quickly. We were told to pitch on the right but all the pitches were packed, we could have found a space but decided to have a drive around first.
I remembered reading a review/thread about the pitches on the right between block 1 and 2 flooded and the drainage was quite bad. We ended up pitching at the back opposite block 3 and had no problems.
One afternoon there was a very heavy rain storm and we noticed that several of the pitches by blocks 1 and 2 were being pumped out by and tractor and a few tents had flooded, so glad I took note of the thread.
The showers in block 3 were good and clean, plenty of space for all the family, and they were hot all the time. I used pretty much every one in the block and all locked. Toilets were also clean, always had loo roll and soap.
The shop on site was well stocked, although a little pricey.
The Club was very clean and looked newly re-furbished. The night time entertainment started with kids games etc at 7. 15pm then moved to a kids show at 8pm, followed by party dances and then a visiting band or something similar. Our 2 girls (9 and 7) really enjoyed themselves an even won one of Phil's hats!
You can also go the the Pitchers Bar and the Plaza on the evening in the park. We did this only once but wished we had gone more offen, this had Bingo from 8. 15pm and kids shows and games also. All in all, couldn't fault the entertainment for kids or adults.
The Theme Park was huge and we couldn't quite get our heads around the fact that you could go in every day if you wanted.
There was certainly plenty to do, the Sea Lion Show was great and our girls loved the acrobatics of the Bongo Warriors. As we were very lucky with the weather, on one hot day the girls spent most of their time the the Splash Zone area in bikini's while we sat on the grass and watched them in the sun.
Whilst we were there we visited the National Railway Museum in York, this was 30 mins in the car. Parking is very expensive but if you go on a Sunday it is only £2. 50 for the day. We also went to Scarbough, this was also about 30mins away and there is a large Morrisons on the way to stock up if you need to.
We had a fantastic holiday, the sun shone and the girls had a ball, we would definitely go back but only if we had another offer.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at Flamingo Land Resort using the Sunday Express offer and must say that it was a lot better than I thought. We arrived on Monday at about 09:15 and were booked in and on our way to the camp field within 15mins.
The staff on reception were really welcoming and informative. When entering the camp field it resembled a scene from a recent rally that we have attended, tents everywhere with no real rules as to where to pitch.
We made a bit of a mistake by not exploring the entire site before pitching and positioned ourselves towards the edge of the field between blocks 1 & 2. In hindsight I should have paid more attention to this forum and gone nearer the back of the field past block 3.
Most of the people around us tended to keep themselves to themselves but always were polite and courteous.
The facilities which we used were Block 1 and 2. These tended to be kept relatively clean during the day but Block 1 was the first toilet block on your return from the Club and unfortunately wasn’t treated with any kind of respect.
Showering required some great timekeeping and positioning skill. If you didn’t get there before 08:00 they were cold and all of the showers had shelves in them which tended to get the vast majority of the water. We never experienced any toilets or showers without locks but did experience the lack of respect from other site users who couldn’t be bothered to clean after themselves.
The Swimming pool had 2 slides and was a great play area for the kids. The changing rooms weren’t brilliant but served a purpose. Currently there is a new play area being build outside the swimming complex that looks like it will be a water based one which will keep the kids entertained.
The Food outlets based around the site seemed to be reasonable (based on other theme park prices) but be prepared to queue during the theme parks hours. For those that don’t mind a drive there is a few local pubs that do good food and quite a lot of takeaways in Pickering which is only 2. 5 miles away. Our personal preference was a little pub about 15 miles from the park which was slightly off the beaten track and did really good food from only £6.
We did try the Club on one occasion but only stayed here for 5mins as it was absolutely packed and never really found the time to go back.
The theme park itself looks very dated but was surprisingly good. It is split into several different areas with rides for most ages in each area but if you are partial to the larger thrill rides then be prepared to queue for a while.
The zoo was fantastic; we booked the night safari for £10 each and found it to be the best money we spent. You get to spend 2 hours being taken around without any other public there and get to go into the enclosures. On our trip we (amongst other things) watched the Hippos being fed just 2 feet away from us, fed the Giraffes, stroked the White Rhino and got to go across to the Lion enclosure where there is no public access. Definitely recommend this for all ages.
Oh by the way, if you are thinking of going fishing whilst you are there I would look away from the park as there are only a few pegs that are fishable (others to overgrown or in an area of the lake covered in green stuff) and they were taken by 05:00 usually by people that didn’t bother paying as they said that “nobody ever checked so what’s the point”
In summary we will be returning but at a quieter time of year and think that the Park staff do a great job but in terms of the Tent and Touring facilities they are fighting a losing battle as it seems to be more and more prevalent that some people treat the facilities in an appalling way due to laziness and a couldn’t care less attitude. Having said that maybe if the site enforced its own rules (and in some cases the law) they may get people to act less like cattle.
