Just returned from Flamingoland, we using the Daily Express offer and a great time was add by all ! The camping area was huge and there was enough space on our pitch for the folding camper a pup tent 2 cars and ample space for sitting out in.
Didnt have a problem with toilets or showers. The swimming pool was brill with 2 slides which the children loved. There was a play area near our pitch which a bonus!
We went to the club for the children's entertainment and Phil certainly had them entertained! The adult entertainment was good too and the drinks where not extortionate!
We loved the shows in the zoo especially the sea lion show. Costcutter store on site well stocked but a little dearer than supermarkets.
We all had a wonderful time and would go again.

Flamingo land the park itself is great, fun for all ages no faults. The park is clean and prices inside the park for food and drink are ok not too expensive.
The swimming pool is a good size and warm with a couple of slides for the kids. Changing room are mixed and some of the cubicles do not have locks on the doors so anyone can walk in when getting changed (not good).
The club house is the same as you would expect from any resort (haven, park resorts etc) Bags checked on the way in so be aware!
Ok so lets get on to the campsite mixed feeling about this, It is a large area with hard standing and all with EHU unless you are in the bottom field witch is just for tents. Some of the pitches flood so choose carefully, bottom left seems to be best.
Now the the shower and toilet block in other review said the staff kept then as clean as they could, this is true, However cleaning once a day is not acceptable when around 4,000 (Approx, according to wrist band numbers) campers have passed through the site in four days if this is so you would expect the communal showers to have lock on the doors (come on Flamingo Land, sort it out).
Pitches are of a good size however when campers are crammed in and allowed to pick there own pitches they tend to get a bit close no 6 meter rule or 3 with awning and you end up with no where to park your car.
Chemical point does not have a flush and just try and find a grey water disposal point? Had to use the elsan hard work lifting the waste water waist high. Water filling points no drain below so soggy with people and some dirty campers washing up at then and leaving food waste at bottom of taps (looked like sick).
If you can put up with them faults its ok not to noisy on a night, Best thing is the park and makes it worth while so if flamingo land spent a few more quid on bolts for shower and toilets and maybe cleaned a few times a day this would be a great site

As a family we have a habit of camping at or near to theme parks, and having not visited Flamingoland for a few years we looked into camping at the resort for a weekend with entry to the park.
On the internet the theme park looks fantastic, in comparison there is oddly very little information about the resort and facilities.
The camping charges seem high bearing in mind you also have to buy a ticket to enter the park, so having just 'spent-up' holidaying in Devon (Woodlands - see separate reports) we were put off a little and then whilst reading reviews here on UKCampsite.co.uk I noticed the free camping offer.
A trip to ebay resulted in me picking up a “cut out” offer ticket from the Daily Star (£1. 49 incl P&P. The offer lasts until 4th November so there is still time to take advantage if you are hardy campers).
Upon receipt of the cut out ticket I rang Flamingoland and was quickly booked in for the weekend (7th-9th Sept. ) paying just £95 for a family theme park ticket and just £10 extra for two nights on a serviced pitch. We could have booked for up to five nights for this price and had five days entry to the park but could only visit over the weekend as the kids had returned to school. We were told to bring the Daily Star cut out ticket and report to the resort reception upon arrival on the Friday evening.
I then spent the next 5 evenings reading lots of reviews which were very negative about the park and campsite so was a little worried that I had done the wrong thing.
The complaints seemed to revolve around long queues for rides and food, 'tied' surroundings, litter, poor customer service, flooded areas, poor WC facilities and more.
We arrived later than planned, just as the sun was setting over the theme park. As you enter the park the size and quality of the rides and roller coaster appear over the horizon and reminded us of a Yorkshire version of Disneyland Paris (but without the rip-off charges and annoying characters !). It was quite impressive to be honest.
We were booked in quickly by the one member of staff and were given wrist bands withe parking and camping receipts to display. We were also given directions from the security post at the entrance, past the food and drink facilities, past the supermarket and laundry facilities to the camping fields at the rear of the resort.
We were were told to use any pitch on the right hand side as you arrived on the tent site, (touring vans and tents are separated) leaving a 3 metre gap between tents. The pitches have parking spaces between them with illuminated service towers (electrics and water) but are still close together. Some pitches are sheltered whilst the majority are in an open field setting separated by access roads weaving around the various toilet/shower blocks and the pool and gym building.
We were quite impressed to be honest as we arrived (England was winning the soccer on the TVs in the bar and the food outlets were busy). People were entering the leisure complex dressed to the nines or in casual garb - nobody seemed to mind.
We found a nice quiet pitch and set up camp in our Hi-Gear Gobi 4 tent with a Hi-Gear Kalahari enclosed porch awning to the front, to give us a bit more room. It does actually fit better than we erected it, but we couldn't be bothered to undo the ring and pins to lay the tapes properly as we were only staying for two nights and had erected it in the dark. We could have set the porch awning further back to avoid the gap between the awning and the main tent but the predicted hot and dry weather forecast assured us that we would be ok as is.
We connected the electrics and filled the tent with kit before heading to the leisure complex for tea/supper about 9:30 pm. We visited the El Paso Cantina and had nachos, cheese, wedges and a hot dog for a reasonable £12. We stuck our heads in the main show room and saw an Abba tribute band with backing dancers doing a few classics - which our girls (10 year old Mama-Mia fans) thought was brilliant !
We were tired and so went back to the tent and had a beer or two watching the stars outside (beers for us not the girls - they had WKDs - not). After retiring with hot chocolate and marshmallows just before midnight we went to bed. We think we are considerate campers so made as little noise as possible after 11:00 pm.
The people around us stayed up a little later but weren't an inconvenience, talking and laughing quietly, sat outside their tents.
Sadly about 30 minutes later we were then awaken by a drunken Scouser who shouted abuse, swore continuously and threatened to kill everyone for the next hour or so much to his families embarrassment, until security arrived and dealt with the problem. I think they asked them a couple of times to control him/quieten down before removing them from the park (possibly to sleep in their cars on the car park ?). However minutes after it all went quiet it kicked off again with people returning from the leisure complex in a bad state.
And then one nearby family had a massive dispute, screaming just about every swear word known to northern man for about 30 minutes until security arrived once again. Then another family kicked off with loud music, and sodding around without regard for anyone else. Basically this went on until 3:40 am when it finally fell silent. Sadly at 6:00 am we were awoken again by a family who were obviously cheesed off at being kept awake half the night and decided to unleash their kids with a vengeance upon all around us.
We had little option but to get up and have a brew. We were not happy. Thankfully our ten year olds slept through most of this and awoke about 8:00 am ready to do battle with the park and the zoo. We had breakfast whilst we tried to identify the culprits making the noise around us but to no avail. I had my suspicions but couldn’t prove anything, so I snarled at everyone just in case !.
On entering the park we were actually quite pleased at how the park looked in day light, the grass was short, the resort was clean, roads and walkways were well, well marked out and children were protected from traffic (essential on a child friendly site). It was actually very well laid out and bearing in mind the wet weather we have had this summer only saw waterlogged areas in the theme park around rides with engineered landscaping.
Despite review site complaints, we didn’t see any real problem with litter or mess in the resort (or in fact the theme park). The camp site toilet bocks were showing the usual signs of heavy use (not surprisingly as this site is massive and obviously appeals to all – considerate and moronic campers) but were actually quite clean and adequate. Some blocks are better than others and some are also quieter for some reason. We never queued for the showers – but again we didn’t go in high summer. We were impressed with the resort and the theme park and couldn’t see any real reason to complain abut anything (but read). The facilities in the theme park were really good, the paths well laid out, zoo animals in abundance and the rides were pretty much all working (one or two genuine problem were noted abut seemed to be fixed quickly with engineers working on them as we passed).
We had a great first day in the theme park – the weather was fantastic (too warm as our sun burn showed) and queues on rides were reasonable until about mid afternoon, when they increased, but only to the degree where the longest we waited was 20 minutes for a ride and this for the “Mumbo Jumbo” ride which was very popular. Staff were friendly and were in abundance, especially on the more dangerous/high risk rides where there was often more than one member of staff checking the seat belts / seats / safety equipment before the ride was started – this was reassuring and the staff all smiled and spoke back to you pleasantly (Woodlands staff - please take note). Kumali, Flip-Flop. Pteradactyl, Velocity, Cliff Hanger and other popular rides were all ridden within 10/15 minutes which was great. The moral of the story here is don’t visit a theme park (or theme park resort) in high season – choose you visit dates carefully and thus avoid the queues !. Its not rocket science. This may also explain negative comments/perceptions about cleanliness, poor customer service and so on.
We rode loads of rides, walked miles, went for tea and then re-entered the park after everyone had gone home to revisit the new older kids play areas adjacent to the Coach House pub and the Sea Otter enclosures. We were however dreading going back to the tent in the dark to face another night of noise, which spoilt our stay, and contemplated packing up early and going home a day early, but we stuck it out, having been reassured by the young lady on reception that she would talk to the night security teams about the issues of the previous night.
We all watched a film on the laptop before hitting the camp beds again – as we we adults were tired from the night before.
At 11:10 pm the noise flared up again – this time with Scottish accents (Touring Caravan dwellers who had arrived at teatime). One voice in particular was infuriating as he was louder by far than his friends. Thankfully the security team arrived quickly and had a word. Sadly things went quiet as Security left but quickly became noisy again as you could hear them come and go. We think that the security team returned and had another word before leaving but we also think they hung around to listen ! They didn’t have to wait long before the noise returned quickly. We are guessing that they parked up nearby to listen and caught them out thankfully before everything quietened down about 1:30 am. But then another nearby husband and wife had a massive row (before their son intervened) and it went quite properly (but with some distant noise) about 1:45 am ish. Snore snore.
I may sound a whingey git, but I am sorry – a family camp site/theme park will have many pitches containing kids – young kids – many younger than ours. Please – if you want to show your selves up when drunk then do it in your own garden or abroad on holiday. Whilst camping on family sites please be considerate and respect your fellow campers with children. It always makes me laugh but you can normally identify the culprits the day after as they are more sheepish, stay in bed later or sod off home as they don’t want to hang around for grief – here they didn’t seem to care.
In conclusion, a really nice site with good facilities let down by idiots who do not respect night time rules on noise or their fellow campers. If we had paid nearly £100 to camp as well as nearly £100 on theme park entry then we would have been fuming. It is a shame as it has put us off returning.

We booked for 2 weeks and left after 8 days and got our money back.
The toilets were dirty and that was not the fault of the cleaners it was the campers leaving their mess everywhere, there were no plugs to have a wash and in the mens toilets no locks, and if you wanted water for a shower you had to go before 7 in the morning and don't use the ones without a wall in between the shower and bench, as I found out the hard way and my clothes got socked as the water shot out every where.
The noise level from the moment people got up to the moment they finely went to bed was loud, security were good during the day but at night let people do what they liked. I found a couple of small girls no older then 7 screaming in the toilet at 1 in the morning as it was louder in the toilet, don't know where the parents were.
There is a night club just a few minutes from the camp site but people drove back to the tents which was a bit of a worry when your head is only covered by a tent and not a brick wall.
Also people letting off Chinese lanterns in the middle of a field full of tents, broken bottles.
The park was good but I would never camp in a tent there and would never recommend it to anyone as we have been camping for years and I have never wanted to leave a place so fast

We stayed a week - but only because there were no other campsites with vacancies for us to move onto, and we had arranged to meet friends in the area otherwise we would have left. Spent as little time there as possible - dreaded going back at night time.
First of all - the theme park.
There was litter strewn everywhere you looked, the park needs a good old lick of paint and the zoo needs an overhaul. (Weeds growing in all the animal enclosures, dirty water and generally grubby exhibit areas. ) Queue jumping galore resulting in many very heated exchanges in the lines. Little kids running riot without parents, witnessed 2 lads about 10 hurling bottles at the peacocks! Massive queues for all rides. Our kids had to decide which ride - yes ride singular - to go on each day and start queuing for that from 9. 30am for the 10. 00am opening, after that they had little to no chance of getting on anything else due to the horrendous queues.
I would say the only nice area was up by Muddy Duck Farm as everything is new there.
Now to the campsite and I use the term loosely.
Toilet blocks filthy. Toilet roll strewn about every single time we went in them, all 4 blocks are as bad, all sinks full of spit and toothpaste at gone 2pm, toilet 'waste' in lumps in the cubicles. Broken glass near sinks. They are not cleaned nearly enough. We went out and bought another toilet so we didn't have to use them.
The showers - what a revelation! Not enough full stop, cold after 10am, - then -in block 3 there is nowhere dry to put clothes at all. All 4 blocks you are ankle deep in dirty water when shower running. No means of cleaning the cubicles before or after. Dirty floors, muddy, grotty walls, in block 2 there were floor tiles missing completely.
Altogether a miserable dirty experience never to be repeated, I would be reluctant to wash my dog in there!
The pitches - well its just a free for all. Very little space when the site is full as it was when we were there. Nowhere to park your car as people have spread onto your pitch, no adherence to the 3 metre rule at all. Also the rules say no windbreaks but they are everywhere and the shop sells them! The hedges were full of rubbish, old food and toilet roll(!)
The drinking water taps have absolutely no drainage below so beneath the tap is a huge mud bath, you can't get near enough to the tap without having to stand in it. Also used teabags and food residue dumped under the drinking water taps - disgusting!
People swilling grey water out into the street, car alarms going off day and night. Parties in caravans/tents until 2 am at night, shouting, swearing, cars revving and racing up and down the little roadways, music on full blast daytime and night. We saw several loud 'domestic disagreements' while we were there which was distressing and one night at 3am a group of people screaming and laughing ran through the crowded tent area tripping over guys and they fell into one of the tents, ran off laughing!
It was quite an unsafe atmosphere all in all - and I'm no snob - I've camped at music festivals and felt safer.
The campsite is completely strewn with rubbish. There was a filthy abandoned ripped torn tent filled with black bin bags over across the site, it stayed there all week, the next campers just pushed it to one side and it was never removed, flies all round it - yeuch!
Little kids running riot in the campsite throwing stuff about, swearing, one in next 'cul de sac' to us about 3 year old running about with a catapult of all things.
And then on the last morning we ordered the breakfast £7. 95 from American Diner. It said eggs and sausages. Food came, badly overcooked, 2 chipolata sausages, hash browns so deeply fried that there was no filling inside. We were served 1 egg each. I mentioned it to staff, who laughed at us and said they always just serve one egg. I pointed out they need to change the menu then. Staff then giggling at us so we left. We had noticed another family complaining loudly before we were seated, we should have realised and not bothered!
Ddn't use the pool so cannot comment, only to say as we walked round the building it all looked grubby so we didn't bother.
Needs a lot of money spending on the campsite in my opinion, needs more cleaners and more cleaners cleaning more often.
Flamingoland needs to not let the campsite or the theme park get overcrowded to the extent that enjoyment for guests is spoiled.

Pleasantly surprised, returned from a 5 night stay Monday to Friday with a voucher from the local paper and we all had a good time. It did however absolutely pour down most of the time we were there, and drainage on the pitches were a problem, we saw a few people with buckets trying to bail out!
Arrived after lunch Monday, fast check in and directly to the right we pitched between block 1 and 2, as stated the showers and toilets are very dated, not 1 lock on the men's toilet doors and showers were cold after 8, but fine in the evening. Women's toilets were warm and clean enough, few locks missing and obviously weren't being replaced anytime soon.
The park itself was a pleasant surprise, due to the weather it was quieter first thing and we therefore managed only short queues for rides (under 1 hour). The bird show was excellent, definitely recommended! The zoo is the best part I think, and the whole site seemed clean and well maintained. The staff however were appauling, most of the kiosk staff were foreign and their understanding of the English language left a lot to be desired. The ride staff were rude and unattentive!
The swimming pool is freezing! And I mean freezing! We had to queue for 20 minutes to get our 1 hour time slot, the changing rooms were poorly kept, no locks on doors and lockers were about big enough for a shoe! We got out quickly!
The on site entertainment is good overall, think Haven but downsized. The evening entertainment kept the kids amused and we enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland show. The beer was very reasonable at £11. 45 for a 4 pint pitcher. The kids spent a fortune at the amusements but that's part and parcel.
Food on site was expensive, £5. 50 for a burger, on its own! We ate in and took picnic as much as possible. Stock up at the Asda in Malton or the Co-op in Pickering (Pickering is a lovely Market village with a working railway and some lovely bakery's and also a few handy outdoor equipment shops).
Overall we would return if we had a similar offer, but would try not to return in peak times and with hopefully better weather.

We visited Flamingoland using the Daily Express offer, which gave us free camping all we had to pay for was one off payment for wristbands, EHU and 1 dog, so for 2 adults 2 kids 1 OAP, 1 dog and 5 nights EHU it only cost us £146. 50.
You can pick where you pitch, pitches are huge so large tents no problem extra for awnings gazeebo etc.
Toilets and shower blocks as spotless as the staff can get them on a very busy July holiday period (I was impressed) any mess was down to clientèle and not staff. Usual queue for showers in morning and early evening - as previously stated Block 3 seems to be best block.
We were lucky to have fantastic weather as week before they were severely flooded which was evident in Tent field at back of site.
Most pitches have access to EHU with fresh water on tap at each EHU post, ground soft enough for easy pitching but firm enough to hold pegs without worry.
Theme park great value for money all ages catered for Zoo was good too although still never saw a tiger or Lion as they hid from us every time we looked for them,
we ate a couple of times at The Coach House within Theme Park (which is open to walk through only - ride end at 6pm after day visitors have left). Great food and great staff with good prices, right beside a fantastic play area for kids so they don't get fed up while waiting on food and gives you a bit of adult time while being able to keep an eye on the kids too.
Costcutter store on site well stocked and night-time entertainment for all ages (which we didn't take advantage of as we had the dog with us) other family members visited it and said it was quiet good for kids.
Great site plenty to do, friendly staff, loads to do in surrounding area too.
Will definitely return and won't mind paying full price next time. (although it's always good to get a bargain)

Well Flamingoland what can I say as other people have said, the park itself was great and so was the evening entertainment. Re Take That were Fantastic.
Now for the shower blocks, not good dated, unclean and 3 mornings running no hot water, we were so disappointed that we left a day early.
The toilets were cleaned once a day from what I could tell and lots of them had no locks on the doors.
The pitches although they were a good size, people didn't observe the pitching rules and it caused some unsafe pitches. Water taps plentiful, but was horrified to find people cleaning there teeth at them and spitting all over the grass.
I think that Flamingoland need to employ more cleaning staff and some one to police the pitching of tents.
We wont be returning to the campsite the park I would go back to, but not the campsite.

This site is great value considering the inclusion of the theme park and entertainment for all your stay in off season (1 off payment in peak).
There is plenty of space to pitch, but beware some pitches are liable to flooding and this isn't obvious, as we discovered to our cost.
The toilet and shower blocks were always clean and stocked with loo roll. Showers are free and hot.
The theme park, zoo and evening entertainment kept everyone busy and happy (2 adults and a 3 year old) and the pool was lovely. They have added another flume and regularly had inflatables in the water. There are 3 pool areas: a paddling pool, a shallow pool and a normal one.
We went last year and the entertainment area has been revamped since, and is nice. Also slot machines etc for 2ps that you win tickets that can be redeemed at a shop.
There is an on site shop a bit pricier than super markets, as usual, but well stocked.
The site is also a good base with lots of things within an hours drive.

We have just returned from a weekend at Flamingoland and a great time was had by all (two adults with kids aged 10 and 5). The camping area was huge and we were able to choose our own pitch. Showers and toilet facilities were plentiful and everywhere was very clean. There was loads of space for the kids to run around and there were some who had taken bikes and scooters. The swimming pool was brilliant with a surprisingly fast slide and inflatables for all to use. The entertainment area and bar looked as though it had recently been refurbished. We didn't spend much time there but had a quick game of pool and a drink that wasn't too badly priced (£4. 69 for a pint of lager and half a cider). The theme park itself has everything a family could wish for. Rides and attractions for all ages, a zoo, picnic areas, food stalls etc. We all agreed that it was somewhere that a family could visit a number of times and still find new things to do. There were minimal queues despite glorious weather and the place definitely didn't feel crowded.
Overall this is a fabulous family site which we will be returning to again this season. Prices are very reasonable when you take into account the cost of your theme park entrance and the facilities on offer.
