This was our first visit to Cruachan Farm, although we are frequent visitors to the area. We stayed in our large tent with EHU and had a pitch that was perfectly sized for our needs. There are a few picnic benches on site for you to use as well. The campsite is located about 4 miles from Killin, which is a small place with a few touristy shops and a small but excellent Co-Op and is near the shore of Loch Tay. If you want scenery and peace, this is the place for you, just an absolutely stunning location. Ben Lawers is only just over a half mile walk from the site and features a National Trust nature reserve well worth a visit. The site has a restaurant which is open for breakfast and evening meals. We didn't use it but the prices where certainly comparable with a good pub meal, and looked really appetising.
The site itself is quite hilly, and our pitch was on a slight slope, but it wasn't un-manageable and if you use the slope wisely, you will avoid any flooding, should it rain (not in Scotland, surely).
The Toilet facilities are adequate. They are kept very clean and are modern, with free hot showers etc. But they are a little on the small side for what seems to be a very popular little site. The ladies loos ran out of paper on a couple of occasions while we where there, and the hot water for the utilities ran out over a busy Saturday, but that's the only real fault as far as I was concerned.
There is a little play area for the kids, set up by a wee stream that kept the kids happy for hours, and there is a short walk from the site through the woods to the shore of Loch Tay, where they all went paddling and swimming. The little ones need to be supervised at the loch because it gets very deep VERY quickly, but my older ones managed fine.
We arrived after six, and there was no-one about to give us much in the way of a welcome, but we found everything just fine, and the staff, when we met them, where friendly and helpful.
Overall, I'm sure we will be back, just like many of the other campers we spoke to there.

A brilliant site, wonderful owners, kids had a ball ran around playing only saw them when they were hungry, toilets basic but very clean with hot water, with a bucket to mop after yourself, which I must say a lot of people done.
Beautiful countryside, lovely walks.
Grounds kept very clean, lots of space so didn't feel crowded at all.
Resultant on site but didn't use but heard good reviews from other campers.

Camped here for a few nights but have been many times in the past.
This site is lovely! Not too level but a few good pitches. Even in the trees if you wish! Staff are nice and helpful, even from the first phone call! Toilet block was always clean and tidy. Nice hot showers. Don't have kids but there was a good play area. Some lovely walks. We took our dog. He loved the walk to the Loch! There is a restaurant too, which accepts dogs. Killin is just a short drive away. A beautiful, picturesque little village. There are also good places to eat, which are dog friendly.
This is by far my favourite campsite and I can't fault it. A total joy. This is how camping should be!

Stayed here overnight on the way to mull. Arrived early evening and was met by friendly owner who showed us to our pitch.
The site is located close to the shore of a gorgeous loch and the atmosphere of the site is friendly but efficient.
Toilet block immaculate.
A really genuine surprise was the on site restaurant.
We had a simply wonderful meal and I had one of the best steaks I have ever tasted !
Similarly friendly and laid back atmosphere. We will definitely return for a longer stay, a real gem of a campsite

Really nice campsite, child and dog friendly.
Good little playground with tire and normal swings, climbing frame, slide, sandpit etc. Very small burn between the farmhouse and the play area, I told the kids to stay away from it and they were fine.
Woodland walk with path down to the loch (Tay) and penned chickens which some children found interesting.
The owners are friendly and the restaurant on site has lovely food, but does get very busy so if you want to eat best to book. It is licensed and food is a bit pricey but worth it as very good.
There are two toilet blocks with two toilets and two showers in each. These were kept nice and clean and where adequate for site. Never had to queue. A lot of units on site had their own toilets, so toilet blocks only used by tents etc.
Killin is a good little village, plenty of places to eat, the capercaillie at the bottom of the village has a really good menus and is good value for money. There is a community run thrift shop in the old mill at the bottom of the village which is worth a visit too.
Nice peaceful site no noise encouraged after 10. 30pm, well run, we'll definitely be regulars here. Recommend for family's and dog owners.

This is a nice site in a great location but for the very first time, the review score we felt didn't reflect the site. However when I re read the reviews, I can see why, most were from campers in tents. This is one of the few sites left that still caters for tents with grass pitches and no hook ups (there are some available) and as tent user I can appreciate that and the reasonable prices. However not so great for caravans. Access is tricky if like us you have a twin axle as the reception is down a single track road, down a steep hill and no turning space. Fortunately for us our pitch was in the lower field and we stopped in time to be able to turn. If we hadn't( and there are only two hardstanding pitches in the lower field, the rest are at the top field), reversing would have been a nightmare for any caravan. The chemical waste point is just a toilet and there are no facilities to rinse it out.
There are only 2 toilets and two showers in the ladies and my husband informs me its the same in the gents in both toilet blocks. The top one is a bit quieter so at weekends and busy times expect to queue for both, We felt that for the size of the site they could have done with a lot more. There was a queue even at 7. 30am! The toilets we feel could have been cleaner(probably reflecting the volume of people using them) and not a patch on other 8/9 reviews. We didn't use the showers because they were full of grass and dirt. We couldn't get a radio or tv signal despite the freeview indicator saying we could but that might just have been where we were pitched. Not an issue for us.
Great fish and chip van in Killin and Reasonable sized co op(open till 10pm) and a launderette. Although there were facilities on site. Bank of Scotland and cash machine also in Killin. Lots of places to eat in Killin Would go back again(off peak) in my tent good grass pitches. Staff were very helpful and friendly. As has already been mentioned, shop never seemed to be open and restaurant only open from 6pm thurs/fri/sat. And for breakfast fri and sat. Bit pricey for us as we have 3 kids but was busy so probably a good idea to book. In all good value but for us in the caravan a 7/10. The toilets/showers let it down

Lovely site very welcoming very clean a short walk from the loch shop on site with basics but will take orders for following day for bread etc. Also a restaurant at entrance to campsite. Just back from the campsite and would like to thank everyone for making my birthday so special. We had planned a Barbecue but heavy rain put paid to that. The restaurant staff pitched in with little notice and saved the day, they put on a spread for 13 of us which was lovely and a special for the one vegetarian in the group and we had a wonderful time. I cannot thank them enough for going that extra mile and making us so welcome. Well done ladies you are a credit to Scottish hospitality hope to come back again soon. Thanks again

I spent another lovely weekend here in some amazing sunshine, the site itself is split into 3 areas caravans at the top or tents with electric hookup then 2 tent pitch areas down the bottom one of which is sort of secluded and has nice views over the campsite.
Toilets are basic but provide hot water and are free to use.
The surrounding area is lovely you can take a walk down to loch Tay through the woods from the campsite or you could enjoy a walk up one of the bens in the area.
The website does need updated though as it did say they did breakfast and we never seen it open before 6pm

Have just come back from a two week break. Fabulous site. Nice and quiet and not over booked, even when site is full, it was all spaced out nice. Prices great, discount if stay for two weeks. Shower block nice and clean, hot water and showers are free. Cleaning staff are very nice. Food on site was very nice, could not fault it.
The owner of the site was a very nice man, showed us where are spot was and said just shout if you need anything.
I will be using this site again if they keep the prices right and not get greedy like most sites are now.
Thanks for the great stay. The rice family

This is one of my favourite campsites to visit, this was my 3rd visit and it didn't disappoint.
There are 3 fields to select a pitch from - the top pitch has EHU and is shared with caravans, the bottom 2 are for tents, some with EHU if booked in advance. There are also little clearings in the woods behind the field where you can have your own private camping space in the woods - fantastic! There are 2 toilet blocks and these are cleaned regularly (hot showers are free!).
The campsite has loads of space to run about and play and a lovely playpark with sand and a small stream for younger children. As my kids has got older they have enjoyed the woods more and amuse themselves for hours. You can walk down to the loch directly from the campsite too.
I would also say the campsite owners are friendly and helpful. The campsite prices are very reasonable and they have a small freezer where they will freeze your ice blocks.
Good sized co-op in Killin itself as well as outdoor shop, cash machine and several pubs and take aways (we liked the fish and chips from the van next to the Village hall).
For trips and walk we like the nature trail at Ben Lawers, and there is several walks marked on a notice board at Killin Town Hall. Kenmore at the other end of Loch Tay is also lovely to visit and there is a National Trust Property nearby too.
The scenery is just stunning - Scotland at its best. The first time we stayed here we could see deer on the ridge behind us every night as we camped!
