We have just returned from an August bank holiday weekend at the site with our family. There were 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 children 6, 4, 3 and one turning 2 over the weekend.
We went as a party of two with our family staying in their tent with Electric hook up. The staff could not have been more helpful in the lead up to the weekend. They ensured that we were located in the paddock (as we have 4 young children between us) and we were put together on two very roomy pitches. We were located away from the lakes at our preference for safety reasons.
The site is beautiful and the lakes make a pleasant walk. The play area for the children is fabulous although if could do with a seat for the adults who have to spend a lot of time there!
Our children spent the time playing games and running around on the very spacious field in the middle of the paddock.
Yes there are birds, but this is in the middle of the countryside! Yes there is a carting track, but we had so much fun we didn't notice and yes there is a road near the Paddock, but it runs along the site and is rarely used.
The site is very clean. The showers were clean, albeit a little cooler later in the morning. There are two showers in the ladies, but we were there on the bank holiday and I never had to queue. They could again do with somewhere to sit to get dressed but there are four hooks so I made do.
Would recommend it. We paid a reasonable price for an August bank holiday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
P. S. Take a good torch as it gets dark!

Just got back from a wonderful weekend away with the extended family on this camp site. The staff couldn, t have been more helpful. The facilities were kept clean and although the site was full due to the bank holiday there was no problem with hot water, and use of the showers if you did not go at peak time in the morning. The kids had a great time in the playground and fishing in the lake. The noise from the karting track was not too intrusive and the 'boys' enjoyed their race there. We all enjoyed watching the wild life on the lake and seeing the geese fly over. Tattershall is an interesting village to explore and we found several Lincolnshire wildlife sites in the area. We have already booked up to go again next year.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Willow Holt which we booked at last minute due to our 10m tent being to large for lots of sites! We were a two family party (3 adults, 3 boys, aged 15, 11 and 10) with two tents. We had a warm welcome at reception and we had the pick of the pitches as it seemed we were the only tents. We chose to use The Paddock as The Horseshoe was quite uneven in places. The grass was nice and short, the ground even and quite firm.
There was a bit of noise from the road that runs along the site, but it wasn't a problem. The jets from RAF Coningsby are quite loud, but were more fascinating than annoying. The birds are very vocal in the mornings (4. 30AM), the wood pigeons I could cope with but the crows are VERY annoying.
The toilet/shower block was only a very short walk away. The shower block only has 2 showers which was fine for me as the site was quiet and being the only lady in our party I had no competition. I can imagine it being a bit of a problem when the site is busy. Everything was lovely and clean, free showers with plenty of hot water, good pressure and constantly smelt nice when I went in - my only criticism is the shower heads could do with a good descaling and the shower tiles regrouted. My husband and bro-in-law both said the mens facilities didn't sound as nice as the ladies, due to smells etc, but that's men for you :-)
The site itself is gorgeous - we had very good weather whilst there so that helps. There is a large wooden play area for kids, where us adults also had fun on the swings! But as entertainment goes - that's it. This is a large site and could really benefit from having a games room with pool table/table tennis etc. There is a small shop on site but it just seems to sell caravan/camping equipment, they are really missing out by not having a small convenience shop.
The fishing was a problem due to the amount of weeds in the lake. My husband tried for an hour but gave up and never tried again. To be honest, we were told the weeds had been cleared in the last two weeks but it was still full - I think the owners are just fighting a losing battle with the weeds.
We had no problem with the go karting track next door, we heard it a few times, but it was never a problem. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed their karting experience, so I would recommend this too.
Woodhall Spa and Tattershall are only a very short drive away in either direction, both having shops, take aways, pubs etc. Personally, we found Tattershall and Coningsby to be better as Woodhall Spa was very expensive.
I would highly recommend Willow Holt if you like peace and quiet and you can make your own entertainment. We are already talking about going back next year.

Stayed for 3 nights, not cheap at £20 a night plus £2 a night for porch awning, fishing is really hard with lakes full of weed, if you get a clear spot and then hook a good un, it invariably weeds you up. Toilet block was clean, but go cart track was noisy, wildlife in abundance. Nice area to explore

A friend and I were on a motorcycle tour and having ended up in the area headed for the first site on the GPS. Pulled in, and were told that it was £18 a night? No shop, no cafe, in fact no nothing available on site except a small shower block.
It has to be said that the grounds are truly impressive, we were the only two tents there. However we had a dome tent and a Beta XL, two small tents by any measure, and to pay £36 for one night was excessive.
We asked about evening meals, and were told that there was a pub 5 minutes down the road, so we walked. And walked. 30 minutes later we get to Tattershall, to find a sign in the pub window saying 'No meals being served'. We went to the Fish Bar and Restaurant, only to be told that the sign was 7 years old and that there was no restaurant. You couldn't make it up?
It was another 30 minute walk back.
The showers and toilets were immaculate, all free and good, though this is a huge site, and I can only imagine the chaos that must occur if the site is operating at capacity.
In view of the price I wouldn't use the site again, at the very least I would have expected a coffee machine, or a small cafe, but it is effectively a very large pretty field with a shower block.

Lakeside setting was very nice but not many units here, unusual for the sunny weekend. Noisy Go Karting next door blighted the peace. We couldn't fish due to the amount of weeds in the lake. Next unit managed to start with ledger line but had to stop because a family turned up splashing around with a dinghy and rugby ball. Apparently this is allowed in a fishing lake! When walking around the lake I found that the owners were dumping household rubble in a tree lined area and various bits of plant were left on lawned areas.
The Toilet and Shower block looked clean on entry but there was scum around the sinks, the toilet bowls were stained and tiles needed re-grouting. We weren't given a Welcome Pack which wasn't a problem until the owners decided to take £5 from our £10 key deposit for not leaving on time. We were packing up at 12:30 on Sunday when the guy came to tell us it was 11:00 departure. No one was waiting to come on but I apologised saying I didn't know and we left within a 1/2 hour. Not satisfied with that he took the £5 despite my protest. He said it was in the rule book which they had behind the counter. It probably is but we weren't told on arrival and won't be going back to find out. Shame.

Setting was wonderful. Very noisy with the go-kart track not far away especially at the weekend. Unfortunately the fishing was impossible. The lakes were full of weeds and the warden was asked by another fisherman if some of the weeds could be removed and was told that he was too busy. Another camper told me that he was told that the lakes were due to be cleared 2 weeks ago. The website promotes fishing lakes but due to the condition of the lakes it is very misleading. Left a day early due to this reason. Will not return. Very disappointed.

Pitched our tent (with ehu) in the horseshoe area after asking the owner for a sheltered spot as it had been very windy. Brilliant pitch very well sheltered from the shrubbery and trees and close to the toilet/shower block. There were some great pitches closer to the lakes which were absolute picturesque but common sense prevailed on this occasion!
Toilet/shower and pot washing areas were all immaculate. The site was not busy therefore we had no issues with the facilities. Plenty of drinking water taps around the site and bin areas too. Again these areas were clean.
Beautiful landscaped grounds with fishing lakes. Wildlife a plenty. No intrusive lighting at night so stargazing opportunities. Owls hooting which I love to hear!
There was traffic noise from the road but it didn't bother us. There is aeroplane noise too from the local RAF bases but again didn't spoil it for us. On the Saturday there was WW2 planes flying over which was a great sight.
Plenty of small market towns closeby for supplies. No shop on site but on Saturday there was a mobile shop selling essentials (bread milk etc)
Our party consists of 2 adults and 2 dogs so I cannot comment to the sites amenities for children.
We will definitely be returning

This was a return visit for us, to meet up with friends for a jubilee celebration.
This campsite is an absolute gem. The setting is beautiful and the owners have clearly invested in some gorgeous landscaping since our visit last year.
On the plus side, the owners are always very welcoming and accommodating and the pitches are of a good size and level. Ours was on the lakeside and lovely.
The toilet blocks are lovely and warm and very clean and there was always a mop and bucket for campers to mop up after showers etc.
Previous reviews refer to issues with the EHC's but we didn't experience any problems and the site was very busy.
Negatively, the ground was quite boggy and waterlogged, however, this was following about 30 hours of unremitting rain. Still, not pleasant when you're splashing through puddles in your jammies in the middle of the night!
The showers were totally inadequate for the number of campers on site. Several times, the water just stopped running or was only a trickle, and was sometimes cold. On one occasion there was no water at all to either the showers or the wash hand basins. The water in the dishwashing are wasn't always warm either.
This won't necessarily put us off visiting again next year, however, some serious investment in the basic necessities is urgently needed before making the park itself look pretty!

A very attractive well landscaped site the local wildlife was superb. The toilet blocks were clean and the showers were very warm and efficient but only 2 are available (not many if the campsite is busy). Dishwashing facilities were first class.
The accessory shop was also very good helping me out with gas equipment that I needed. On the down side we were told to pitch our tent where we liked not knowing which part of the site is liable to flooding in heavy rain.
After staying just one night it started raining about 4. 30 the following day. We were eating our tea about 6. 00 pm and water started flooding in under our feet it got to about 4 inches deep we had no alternative but to pack up and go home as everything was getting wet. On reporting this to the site office I got little sympathy or help they said ''we could move to another pitch'' how could we?. As we had already paid for 2 nights stay I think we should have got some of our money back.
Not a very good start to camping but I won't let this put us off!
