A pretty site, good drainage even after heavy rain. Great site for Birders and plane spotters.
We got to choose where to pitch and had the 'Horeshoe' area all to ourselves for 2 of the 3 nights even at the hight of the season.
Nice hot showers. Close to Woodhall Spa (nice outdoor heated pool there plus the old fashioned Kinema in the Woods)and Horncastle (typical unspoilt Lincolnshire Market Town and worth a visit)
Had the best sleep in a tent ever here it's so peaceful. We will be going back.

Location was fantastic, close to all the local towns/cities and the coast. Site was in a Picturesque setting, surrounded by woods and had 3 small lakes for fishing. There was lots of wildlife on / around the site.
Wardens were helpful and friendly.
There was no shop on site.
The amenities were basic, the toilet block was outdated and in need of a good clean. Water and toilet waste facilities were poor. The rubbish bins didn't get emptied during the 4 nights we were there and they started to attract a lot of wasps / flies.
Would not stop at this site again, unless they update the amenities.

Pleasant site for a quiet relaxing weekend.
We were there for the weekend and had quite a bit of rain one day, there were a few places that flooded behind out tent but nothing major.
The ground is pretty hard and stony and bent a few tent pegs and it was difficult to get our dog stakes in the ground
The site didn't cater for dogs, I didn't see one dogbin and there wasn't an area for them to be let off lead so that was a disappointment.
The toilets were clean and tidy but a bit whiffy at times
There is a washing up facility on site which was handy and the toilet and washing facility is situated in the middle of the park so only take a couple of minutes from whereever you are on site.
There is a Somerfield about 5 minutes drive away and a post office next door.
There is also a caravan dealer just up the road from Somerfield (man in post office told me about it) and they stock camping equipment as well. Very handy to know - we bought a heater from them.
If you walk beyond the lake to the area that leads to the woods it would be a little dangerous for children as there is scrap metal laying about and an old tanker situated there for some reason, supervision would be needed.
Overall a nice quiet site.

I agree with the other reviews about the campsite being stunning scenery and fantastic wildlife, the lakes were a plus as hubby and son spent a lot of their time fishing and really enjoyed it. We walked to Tattershall which was a bit hair raising as there is no footpath and the traffic is really busy on the road at certain times and they do go too fast so wouldn't recommended doing that walk.
The pitches are great and really big, everyone we met was really friendly and the owners are lovely. Could do with a bit more lighting at night particularly the 'paddock' and 'horseshoe' sections cos if you didn't have a torch you had to walk to the loos in the pitch black.
The only real negative that we did have was that regardless of all the reviews that say that the showers and toilets were spotless, we disagree. There are only 2 showers for the males and 2 for the females which isn't enough for a big site like this especially when the weather is boiling hot like it was. My hubby had to queue a couple of times for a shower and I noticed so did a couple of women in the ladies. Also the water was too hot in the showers which is great in autumn or winter but when its boiling hot you need to be able to have a cold shower if you want, certainly cooler than they were. We also thought the showers were quite dated and very basic, also they didn't smell very nice. The toilets were ok after they had just been cleaned but in our opinion they needed cleaning and checking more regularly as they were so busy and on a couple of occasions I went in and just wanted to come straight back out. A lot of it down to the odd camper not cleaning up after themselves I know, but if they were checked more regularly a lot of it could be avoided. Both me and hubby thought they could do with a good scrub as the walls and also the doors of the toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for some time, plenty of cobwebs as well that could be swept away, I also had a few conversations with other females and they seem to have the same opinion as me and were not impressed.
All in all a beautiful campsite with fantastic scenery but showers and toilets could be improved a lot.

We thought this camp site was that good we have been back again, and booked 2 more weekends there.
Facilities are (as previously stated) very clean and no waiting for the loo's, showers or washing area.
Our 2 kids loved it especially the wildlife and open spaces for them to play safely. If you stay up really late you can hear owls close by, star gazings fantastic, even saw a few shooting stars.
Fishing was good too, tackle shop close by (just ask the friendly owners for directions).
Tattershall castle and church are worth a look, even our dog was allowed in the church, Friendly campsite and surrounding areas. Camping fees resonable, 2 adlults, 2 kids a dog with electric hook up in a peaceful area with lots of space £38 from friday till sunday and you dont have to leave until about 3pm ish. bargain.
There's an airfield nearby and we saw a few very low flying lancaster bombers. I think that's what they were, they were old war planes anyway (I'm not an aircraft buff so I might be wrong). Fantastic. :-) roll on next weekend for out next visit.

What a fantastic site. Spacious area for camping, no waiting for the loo's or showers, loo's and showers were VERY CLEAN, walking area around the lakes is very pleasent, lots of wild life, geese, swans, greebs and of course bats.
Thrs a local chips shop, Spar and post office so you dont have to drive miles to get what you need. Spar open 8am-8pm. Chippy closes 9pm. Ice cream van comes on site as well.
We camped in our tent and had a hell of a nights rain but the drainage was very good and there was no flooding (watch out for falling pine cones when it is windy though).
The fishing wasnt up to scratch due to the excessive weed but we did come away with a roach.
No negatives for this campsite so give it a go its great.

Delightful! A lovely site with lakes and wildlife.
We were there midweek so it was very peaceful, we left on Saturday and quite a few people had arrived on Friday evening, but it was still spacious and quiet. I don't fish, but I wish I did! I could see fish almost leaping out of the water. The geese swans, ducks coots and rabbits were a constant source of amusement and interest.
Everything you need is at Tattershal, good supermarket, newsagent, post office, fuel etc. Two pubs in Tattershall, one very nice the other a bit iffy, full of youngsters who really should not have been there.
On the advice of the warden we drove our car to Horncastle, parked free and used our oldies bus passes to travel around Lincolnshire.
Large spacious pitches and very well kept grounds.
We will be back.
Typhoons from RAF Coninsby would not put us off returning, we had a free air display with Spitfires and jets overhead, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is housed just up the road.

We spent 6 relaxing nights here about 10 feet from the lake. I must say it was a very well kept and clean site. The wildlife were very friendly namely a family of swans that called round breakfast and tea most days. Toilets and showers were kept clean but maybe they could do with a couple more showers for peak times as there were only two of each. Not really much for kids to do unless they bring ther own entertainment, the ones that were on site brought their bikes. Not really much within walking distance but tatershall is only a few mins away with pub that we did not use so can't comment. A very well stocked somerfield and post office next door and a couple of crafty nik'nak shops. Petrol station and woodhall spa just ten mins nice little shopping place worth a visit didn't venture much further but will on next visit. And so back to the site once you ring the bell at reception if nobody is about, drive down past the few very well presented statics and turn a corner to see two lovely lakes and landscaping on the far side. The both of us said that looks lovely. The owners were on call at all times, if needed just ring the bell. All in all a very nice place to stay I would reccommend it to anyone for a quite break 'lovely'

This was our first stay at Willow Holt with our new tent, we only stayed for 4 nights, but also roped in some friends to join us on the friday.
Altogether a lovely site, great walks around the lakes and beyond, for all the 'boy racers' there is a newly built go kart track just up the road, which you can also see from the woods. An ideal base for visiting Tattershall, Woodhall Spa etc, and on the worst weather day of our time there we ventured out to Boston for a little 'wet' retail therapy.
The toilets/showers/wash-up rooms were always clean and the family that run the site really helpful.
So long as you don't mind the proximity of the jets racing overhead, which to be fair, you will get in most of Lincs and the East Coast, then this is a really well spaced out site, ideal for a relaxing stay.

We visited this site for the second time, and it is overall a very relaxing and pleasant place to stay. Beautiful views over the lakes, you could sit and watch the wildlife all day! However, the shower block was small, and only one for the entire site, with 2 showers only in the gents, and although they were perfectly usable, they could have done with a good scrub, and removal of the cobwebs, and a couple of new shower curtains.
The surrounding area is lovely, with Woodhall Spa only a short drive away, which is a beautiful small town, and well worth a visit
The absence of childrens facilities, and the presence of such a vast amount of open water does not really make this an ideal site to take children to, but this suited us fine.
Owners were very helpful, couldnt do enough for us, and there are plenty of leaflets in the reception area.
Overall an excellent site, and we will definitley be returning!
