We had a superb 2 nights at Greenacres (2 adults + 1 child) and wish we could have extended our stay, but it was fully booked and I can see why it is so popular with families. Although only 2 nights it was so relaxing that it felt like a proper holiday.

We had a friendly welcome on arrival and were given lots of useful information about the site by the owner.

The pitches are very generous in size and are situated around the edge of the camping field with the centre being left free for games – this is a large space well used by children and their families for kite flying, rounders, badminton, bike riding, etc, which all added to a great atmosphere at the site. Cars are not allowed across the centre of the field and can only circle the edge to get to the pitches and park.

There is a small play area consisting of swings, slide, and seesaw (quite dated but functional ) and two play houses adjacent, and the kids seemed to love this area when they weren’t riding about on their bikes or playing other games on the field.

The loos and wash basin area were warm and kept very clean and soap/loo roll provided and kept well topped up. I noticed there was a socket for hair dryers too in the ladies one. I only wish the showers had a bit more spacious. Although clean they were really quite cramped which can be particularly difficult for those assisting children. There were two sinks for washing up which doesn't seem a lot for a site of this size but I didn't see lengthy queues.

The site has some freezers and fridges for use plus a small library of books and magazines, and some bats and balls etc.

In the sort time we were there we regularly saw the owners maintaining the site and keeping the facilities in order.

A mobile village shop in a van circled the field each the morning and evening selling food and drinks - being only there for a weekend we didn’t really use this shop but fresh meats looked tempting, it also sold wines, cider etc. If you ask, the shop will bring your morning paper the next day. On some mornings the site owners sell warm pain au chocolat or croissants.

Greenacres is situated well away from any main roads so is very quiet. It is only a few miles from Glastonbury, Wells, Shepton Mallet, so lots of possibilities exploring locally or finding something else to do on a rainy afternoon.

All in all we think this is a brilliant site for family camping and is very well managed. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable break that we plan a return visit next year for a week.

We have just come home from a wonderful stay at Greenacres. In our group there were 3 adults and 6 children, ages 1 - 15. I chose this campsite because it is small (in terms of pitch numbers). Spacious pitches, set around a large field, where the children played many hours of football, rounders, 40-40, riding bikes etc. The little playground was great for my 5 year old. She made so many friends over the 8 days we were there and even if I couldn't see her, I knew she was either visiting one of her new friends' tents or sitting with the Lazy Dayzee crew under their gazebo or in 'Doris' (their big teepee). Showers were hot (if a little cramped :)) Bathrooms were cleaned regularly - always smelling fresh. Toilet roll was constantly being replaced. Sinks had 'touch free' taps (very modern!) and had plenty of soap. Village shop delivering essentials in mornings and evenings was very handy, and the fresh croissants sold on weekend mornings were lovely and very popular! The lovely Lazy Dayzee ladies did hair wraps, glitter tattoos and facepainting as well as offering other crafts to do. One day they had special 'lamp-making'workshops and in the evening all the children who'd made one did a parade around the site and got a hot-chocolate to drink. I think that was my little one's hightlight of the holiday. The only criticisms, if I had to make some, are about the swings and slide area. The slide steps are metal and the ground at the bottom had a bit of rock sticking out, which would be rather nasty if they fell back onto it, Therefore, I couldn't leave my toddler mooching about there, just in case. Also, as we had a fair bit of rain, there was a lot of mud around that area, which a bit of bark or rubber matting would help prevent/reduce. Again, only really relating to the fact that I had an under-2, even though there is a hedge behind the play area separating it from the driveway in, there are gaps so they could easily 'escape', so again, I couldn't just leave him playing there for safety reasons. If it wasn't for those things I could have happily watched them all from the comfort of my chair :) Think this was my favourite site I've ever been to! We would all love to go back.

What a fabulous campsite! The owners of Greenacres are so friendly and welcoming.

We have camped here every year for the last 4 years. It is great! The pitches are around the edge of a very large field and the middle is left for the children to play. There is a lovely play area for the children. Our two children LOVE coming here. They have a sense of freedom running about and playing, not realizing we can see them at all times sat in front of the tent!

The shower and toilets are basic but beautifully clean. There are freezers to re-freeze your ice packs or store food. A local butcher comes every day selling their produce which is delicious!

Hope to sneak in another visit this year before the end of the season!

We (2 adults, 2 children) stayed at this lovely campsite over the early May bank holiday weekend on the back of the positive reviews on this website. We were not disappointed!

Pitches are large and flat. We camped in the non-EHU area so had acres of space in front of the tent for our children (and us) to play ball games. The play area at the opposite side of the field was well equipped and very popular.

Showers and toilets were always immaculate and were cleaned several times a day. There are only 2 dishwashing sinks so queues were inevitable at busy times. We (my husband!) never had to wait for long though.

The mobile shop was a great idea, it was nice to buy fresh local produce. Our children particularly enjoyed the visits from the 'croissant fairy'!

We did venture into Wells and Glastonbury (both lovely) as well as walking out through the local lanes but found the relaxing atmosphere back at the campsite a real draw. There was a nice buzz in the evenings - birdsong, children laughing and playing and adults chatting. All quiet fairly early though.

Would we come back? Absolutely - our oldest child has already asked to go back again next year for his birthday treat!

We have returned from another stay at Greenacres campsite, we decided to return after a lovely stay last year.

Although the site was full there was ample room for everyone.

The toilet blocks have been updated with new sinks and toilets, toilets now have toddler seats too, and as usual everything was kept spotlessly clean. Ample hot water and no need to keep stacks of 20p's for the showers as it's all included in the site fee. Although only 4 showers still never had to queue.

Some pitches have electric, but you can get away without electric as fridges are helpfully provided. Wifi has also been added this year, which worked fine, £5 per day was a reasonable charge. There is a children's play area with swings, slide, playhouses for the younger ones plus goals on the field and table tennis for the older ones. A good feature is the fact the tents are only around the perimeter of the field leaving the centre for the kids (and adults) to play, within site of the tent. It was nice for my daughter to get up close to the lambs and the hens across the road.

There is a mobile shop selling usual newspapers and provisions, morning and evening at peak times.

A nice quiet relaxing site in the countryside but only 10 minutes by car from Glastonbury, 10 minutes from Wells, and about 40 minutes from Longleat. If you have a head for heights go for a walk up Glastonbury Tor on a clear day for amazing views.

I will be staying again if coming down this way next year.

Just back from another lovely trip to Greenacres. Even though it was bank hol, it was not hellish busy as, unlike everywhere else, it doesn't cram more people in to every patch of grass!.

All the pitches are on the edge of the field leaving the middle for playing, bike riding etc.

Facilities fine, I only had a small wait for showers, even when the site was full and it was all cleaned regularly.

They had the 'Lazy daisy' crew there whilst we stayed doing hair wraps and face paints and crafts which was great (small fee) and they had a lovely big bell tent to relax in whilst your children were being painted.

Love this site and would highly recommend it.

Purchase a Vango Icarus 500 and search for ages for a site that matched what we were looking for. Ideally we wanted to stay away from the amusement type of camping sites but a site where the kids could run around with plenty of space without annoying other campers.

Green Acres was superb and we could not have asked for a better site. The owners are friendly and very helpful and the site is fantastic.

The main field is huge with only 40 good sized pitches and everyone is there for the same reason (to let kids enjoy themselves).

We originally booked for 3 nights but ended extending this for another 2 nights.

There is 4 showers and even with the site full there was never a queue, toilets are fine and washing up area sheltered (there can be a queue for this).

You need to drive to go to the main shops but the village shops visits every morning and evening (with the best steaks I have tasted).

Overall this is a very good campsite and I recommended to anyone with young kids to visit if you want to set up and then simple relax.

It was that relaxing we have booked again for September and due to other families we met and got on with going back next year with them.

Great site. Plenty of room for tent. Weather was wet and thunder storm.

Made us feel welcome and friendly. Large field and fantastic for kids. They can run around free.

Not enough electric hook ups, but there was 2 large fridges to store your food. So it wasn't a problem.

Food van came on sight and had play tent for kids.

Sight is tucked away, but worth it. Saw glow warms at night.

Very enjoy enjoyable and near cheddar gorge.

The shower, toilets and washing up area could do with an update a bit basic.

We stayed at greenacres on our first family camping trip. We wanted a child friendly site so the kids can come and go as they please safely. The last family camp I went on was nearly 30 years ago and I was very impressed with the site.

Having fridges and freezers available so you can keep food chilled and ice packs frozen is superb. A small lending library if you get bored,

Local shop comes round each morning and evening for any sundries you may need,

Kids play area is adequate for the size of the site, with footballs, frisbees etc around the field for communal use.

It is in the middle of farming countryside so it is lovely and quiet on site, but wells and Glastonbury are only a few miles away if you want to go visiting the west country.

I can recommend greenacres if you are looking for a quiet, relaxed site for a family holiday.

This was our second visit to this great little site, and won't be our last. Big field, big pitches, great location, and the owners Duncan and Mary are lovely.

If you have young children you must try this site, plenty of room for them to run around and get exhausted!. Some reviews say the facilities are a bit inadequate but we have never had a problem or had to wait very long for washing up or a shower.

The fridges and freezers are free to use and there is a microwave for heating and sterilizing baby's bottles.

Another great thing is that unlike other sites the prices do not increase for the summer holidays so its brilliant value for money too.
