This was an excellent campsite with great facilities and proved an ideal local break to get our young children in the swing of camping.
Pros - Shower / washing / washing-up block; good amounts of hot water albeit a little cramped to wash a toddler and keep dry (but what would I expect in any case!) but managed fine. Good supply of washing up stuff and loos kept good and clean and seemed adequate for camp of that capacity.
Layout - it was great to have the tents around the edge of the field with a central play area. It allowed the 4 and 3 yr old their first sense of exploratory freedom in an environment we could relax in.
Play area - a good selection of swings, slides and wendy houses to keep our two occupied and also able to watched from the tent which was a bonus.
Local bacon and sausages for sale - delicious way to start the day.
Location - great for short cycle trips out and about but you would certainly want to get you pleasures in a largely cultural way to exploit the benefits of its location.
Cons - none that stood out - well ordered but not over restrictive. Only slight downside I would say was its positioning really in terms of stuff to do out and about (ie you need to get in your car for a while to fill a week of off site activities) - but we'd only travelled 10 miles or so to get there so we knew that!

Cannot recommend this site enough, brilliant had an excellent stay. The site is good for children plenty of swings, slides etc.
Excellent value for money.
Showers and Toilets are spotless cleaned and polished everyday.
Duncan was more the helpful, it was a family members birthday whilst we were there and he recommended a local pub for Sunday lunch The Pound Inn in Coxley
Excellent value also.
Will be going back again.
Ideally placed to visit the towns of Wells and Glastonbury and only a 45 minute drive to the coast Weston super Mare or Burnham on Sea.

We loved this site and stayed for Easter 2011 - which was gloriously warm weather.
I cannot fault the way that it is operated at all. It is well organised and has a few extra things which you are surprised are there, and then add to your experience and stay.We loved the bike hire - its so flat around this site, and quiet lanes, we took advantage of this service and enjoyed a lovely afternoon 'out & about'
The site is kept immaculate - with Duncan often seen mowing a pitch and out and about - emptying the bins and keeping everything in good order!
They sell ice-creams in reception - great for the children ! They had a 'local produce lady' each morning over Easter set up a stall selling eggs, bacon and croissants too.
Plenty for families here - lots of playground type toys - swings, playhouses, table tennis and football goal. Ours were very happy staying here.
Loos and showers are kept clean.
There are 4 individual showers, inside these are very narrow! - We didn't once have to wait v long (if at all) even though the site was full whilst we were there.
Lovely views and very quiet site. As its mainly famillies I think most people were in bed well before 11pm (could have been also because it was early in the season, & it got much cooler in the evenings!)
Would definitely return to this site and definitely recommend it to my best friend!

We cannot recommend this site enough for families. The tents are situated around a spacious field. Pitches are very generous. Along one side is a play area visible from the surrounding tents. Our children (5 and 8) could play 'independently' while we watched from afar.
There are four showers for all and a toilet block for each gender. Showers small but clean. Water temperature not boiling but did the job. Washing up area a little crowded but Duncan, the owner, says this is next on his list.
There is an area with fridges and freezers for communal use which is a fab addition. Duncan, Mary and their daughter are all so welcoming and will help with anything.
It is a drive to Glastonbury (we visited the Abbey and climbed the Tor), Street (we bought new sleeping bags at the outlet village), Shepton Mallet (Kilver Court Gardens is an oasis) and Wells (beautiful cathedral and Bishop's Palace).
As a mum, I couldn't have asked for more from a simple, spacious, safe site with no clubs or loud music or gimmicks.

I can't add much to the previous reviews but would like to say that this is a great family campsite. The main attractions of the site are that it's quiet/rural with big, level pitches and that they accept tents/campervans only, and NO DOGS!
Greenacres may appeal more to families with younger children, but there's plenty of space and freedom for tweens/young teens too. My children appreciated the play equipment and football pitch.
The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The push button showers might not be suitable for those with young children, but there was a baby bath available. It was very useful to have fridges and freezers available.
Wells and Glastonbury are within a few minutes drive and both have decent sized supermarkets.

Greenacres is set in the middle of nowhere in a really beautiful setting within short driving distances of Wells, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet.
The site is well maintained and the pitches are flat and absolutely huge!
The toilets are a little old fashioned and dated but they are kept very clean, the showers are free and clean and the water is hot. We didn't think much to the washing up area but Duncan (the owner) told us that this is being updated before the start of the next season.
We don't have children however, we can see that this site is brilliant for families, there is a range of play equipment for little ones and loads of space in the centre of the field where children can run and play under the supervision of their parents, whilst they are relaxing outside of their tents- its a great, well thought out set up.
The site also has fridges and freezers for everyone to use to store ice blocks and fresh food and in the same hut as these appliances there is a large selection of leaflets on local attractions and lots of books to borrow too for both adults and children.
There are free range chickens on site, which produce lovely eggs. They can be a bit of a nuisance though and did jump on our breakfast table one morning, causing much hysteria from me as they flapped their way around our cups of tea causing mayhem! It's quite funny looking back, but wasn't at the time!
The owners were very helpful and friendly and the site is lovely, peaceful and good value for money, we would definitely go back.

A fabulous site that makes a real effort to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. The site is laid out with good size pitches around a central clear area, leaving loads of space for children to play in. This plus the playground, bike hire on site, toys, bats, balls etc all available to borrow meant the children were more than catered for. Happy children means happy adults; freshly made burgers and sausages to buy each morning means even happier adults.
The communal fridge was really useful and the shower block and toilets were clean and functional with plenty of hot water.
The site was quiet and felt very much part of the local countryside with lovely views, winding lanes and fields of farm animals all around.
One piece of advice - avoid Wookey Hole at all costs - it's a lot of money to see a reasonably interesting cave surrounded by loads of tat that charges a premium but delivers very little.

What a little gem of a site!, level huge pitches, space for the kids to play in sight, very clean toilets and showers and Duncan and Mary were very helpful and friendly even joining in the evening game of rounders.
The site is in the centre of Wells, Shepton Mallet, and Glastonbury. There are Tesco stores in Wells and Shepton Mallet (directions given to this one on arrival). Just spent five nights there and will definitely return.

We loved this friendly campsite that is located on a farm near Glastonbury. The facilities are good and include a communal fridge for your food and drink. The hosts are very welcoming and you can rent bikes and get advice about local activities.
There is a playground for children and the site is very family friendly. This is a great area for cycling and of course Glastonbury tor, the town itself and the Chalice Well Gardens are wonderful to visit.
Many campers were regulars who come back each year. It rained most days when we were there but we still rate it highly.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Greenacres. This is a very rural site, set in some glorious Somerset countryside which only takes tents. You are surrounded by fields and bird song and there is a view of Glastonbury Tor from some areas of the site.
Our pitch was level, mown and the pegs went in very easily and held well in the soil. The pitch size was huge compared to other sites. We could easily have pitched our tent and parked 2 cars side by side on it.
What we really liked about this site was its family orientated feel. Tents were pitched around the perimeter of the site, leaving a huge play area for the children. Small football nets, bats / balls, tricycles for smaller children were all provided plus swings, slides, 2 playhouses and see-saws. Our 4 year olds had a whale of a time and made many 'new friends'!
Where we were pitched we could clearly see the children without having to tag along with them. It was bliss to sit in the tent porch with a glass of Pimms (It was my birthday after all!) and watch the kids play.
The toilet and shower block was basic but clean. Shower curtains were being changed whilst we were there. The toilet block has concrete floors and 4 toilets in the ladies with 3 sinks. The men had 3 cubicles. There was 1 shower each, these were free. The taps were the push on variety and it annoyed my husband that had no delay on them. They stopped as soon as you removed your hand, making it difficult to wash both hands!
The washing up area had 2 huge sinks with spare bowls and drainers if you wished to use them. This area is quite small and there didn't seem to be enough sinks for the amount of pitches, but we coped!
BBQ's are allowed providing they are mounted on blocks, which are provided behind the toilet block.
A freezer and fridge are freely available. We did leave a bottle of Moscato Spumante in there accidentally, so if it is still there, help yourself!
Bike hire is available and there is some beautiful scenery around the site. But we were too lazy and didn't bother.
The site is perfectly located for Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Wells but to be honest we just enjoyed sitting outside watching the kids. We only ventured into Wells to buy warmer sleeping bags (that is another story!) and BBQ food from Tesco.
So, if you fancy a quiet, low key weekend away to recharge the batteries and enjoy the countryside you could do a lot worse than trying this little gem. We will certainly be back!
