As soon as arriving at this site we were made to feel welcome by the owner. The pitch was flat and very spacious, the facilities basic but always clean and looked after.
The layout of the site (2 large fields with tents around one side, play equipment and facilities on the other and space for children to play in the centre) was ideal. As other reviews have mentioned it meant we could sit outside our tent on one side of the field and watch our children happily playing on the other side. Other sites we have stayed at would have crammed the middle of the fields with pitches as well, but here you get the feeling they are interested in the quality of your experience, not just how many campers they can get. What a bonus the free use of a fridge and freezer was as well.
On a hot day the open air swimming pool at Street was a welcome treat.
We had a lovely break and will recommend it to anyone with young children.

Lovely rural campsite, the owners made us all very welcome, even giving the children rides in a trailer on the back of a tractor! all the children were encouraged to play a game of football in the evening. The site was very clean, neat and tidy and the owners were happy to help in every way, including chilling our wine for us!

We simply love this site. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We've been twice, on the first May bank holiday this year and last. Our three children (aged 2,4 and 6 yrs) think it's wonderful.
The pitches are huge and would accommodate any size tent easily and still feel spacious. Loads of room for car, tent, tables, chairs and toys. No fires allowed but off the ground BBQ's are so we sat round the BBQ in the evening - it was chilly!
We didn't mind the basic facilities - there are spotless loos, sinks, showers and plenty of piping hot water.
Layout of this site is perfect with a large field, tents around the outside, grass play area in the middle and smaller children's play area opposite the tents so you can keep an eye on them playing whilst sitting in comfort! There are 2 play houses which the children practically lived in.
There is a lovely feeling about Greenacres - I think that's down to the lovely owners. Once you have paid for your pitch, that's it; free showers, free fridge and freezer space, books to borrow and loads of information about local places to visit.
It's fab. I'd recommend it to anyone especially if you have young children.

This was our first camping expedition since having children and was a great success. The owners of Greenacres are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The pitches are very generous and we loved the fact that they are all located around the edge of the site leaving the middle free for children to play safely. Although some of the play equipment had seen better days, the children all congregated there and could be easily seen from all pitches.
The facilities are basic but spotlessly clean. The showers were always hot and if you had to queue it wasn't for long.
The site is peaceful with a sky full of stars at night. During our stay Brown Cow Organics had just started a daily delivery of bacon, yogurt etc. Which was fantastic. There were fridges and freezers which were free to use and we always found space for basic supplies.
Our 3 children (4,6 and 7) loved our stay here. They talk about it more than any of our overseas holidays. There was plenty to see and do nearby. We had a trip to Dunster which was a bit further away but well worth it, it's beautiful.
If you are looking for lots of facilities then this wouldn't be the place for you, but we enjoyed a wonderful week of dawn 'til dusk fresh air, peace, tranquillity and relaxation. Perfect!

Just returned from a fortnight at this site. It's beautiful - lovely views, really relaxing. Owners are incredibly friendly and really knowledgeable about the local area. The facilities are very very basic, but are incredibly clean. There were 4 ladies loos, along with 2 sinks (not sure what the mens facilities were like). Showers were very basic, and it's difficult to control water temperature. There are only 2 sinks for washing up, so was glad that we were there when it was very quiet. There are fridges and a freezer, along with books and games to borrow. Loads of space in middle of field for playing volleyball /football / cricket. The pitches are flat and large. You can hire bikes (although we were too lazy) at £1.50 per hour or £6.50 for the whole day which we thought was great value for money.
There is lots to explore in the local area, glastonbury, wookey hole, cheddar gorge, shepton mallet and wells. It's about a hours drive to the coast at Burnham. Also easy to get to Bristol and Bath from here.
As it's pretty remote, there is no light pollution, so watching the stars at night was fab. Fires are not allowed, however, you can have BBQ, and bricks are provided on site.
We found a great pub about 2.5 miles away (the Pound Inn at Coxley) which has a great carvery. Also great fish and chip shop in Wells (opposite Tescos) called Tuckers, and they do the best fish and chips I've ever tasted there! The local store in Pilton was closing down, so the nearest place to get supplies would be Tesco in Wells.
Perfect location, great campsite and loads to do nearby, I totally recommend this!

We stayed here for 2 nights, we were using the site to goto longleat safari park,
Really lovely site, massive pitches, really friendly owners, and both tent neighbours had been going to the site for years,
The facilities are very basic, only 2 showers both very basic and small, but clean, the toilets were ok, plenty of sinks to wash in and again always very clean.

Really lovely site for families with very friendly, helpful owners. Spacious pitches around the outside of the field left lots of room for children to play safely in the middle. We liked the fact that we could keep an eye on our daughter, who made lots of friends, from our pitch. There is also a small play area.
The wash block is old-fashioned but spotlessly clean, shower pressure and temperature can be a bit erratic but we felt this added to the site's charm. Fridges and freezers are in a separate shed along with a small 'library' and tourist information leaflets. Mobile shop selling organic meat, some veg, yogurts and milk called on all six days we were there.
Greenacres is ideally placed for visiting Glastonbury (we loved the Abbey and Chalice Well, Chedder, Wookey Hole, Longleat and Wells. We also visited Dunster about an hour or so away.
We would definitely visit again.

There are many reasons why I would recommend trying this campsite to anyone looking for a superb, no frills, family holiday.
As has been said in previous reviews the pitches are big, no massive, make that enormous ! Our tent (Vango Killington 600) was dwarfed by the enormous space assigned to it! Site seems to attract the larger family tents, with good reason, nevertheless there is plenty of room even for the most canopied extension! The other thing I loved about this site was the space in the middle of the field for the children to play in. There were goals set up and some badminton nets and just plenty of room to run about, ride bikes, kick a football, play frisbee. There was also a small play area including some lovely wendy (or windy as my little boy calls them) houses and other toys inc ride on tractors, bats, balls etc to borrow. There is also a lending library and fridges and freezers for general use. There is also bike hire (I THINK it was £1.50 per hour or £6.50 for the day, or there abouts)
Also we felt that the site was really sheltered - there were some really windy days during our stay and flapping tent syndrome was kept to an absolute minimum.
EHU is available but I believe it is in demand so booking in advance probably advisable.
There is an organic food shop/delivery early in the morning which sells bacon, eggs, sausages, milk etc. I didn't try it but a man I washed up to next did and indicated that although it was pricey quality was outstanding.
At night there was literally no light pollution what-so-ever and on a clear night the sky was completely hypnotic. Beautiful.
The owners are usually around and are pleasant and friendly and seem to genuinely be interested and keen that everyone enjoys their stay. Everyone was shown to their pitch rather than being pointed in the general direction and left to get on with it! From the initial contact every dealing with the owners has been extremely positive.
It is well situated near wells and glastonbury and there is lots to do in the area.
My first moan is about the facilities. While I wouldn't go as far as to say they were dangerous like a previous reviewer intimated they are basic. All the facilities are basically housed in a small shed with the gents on one side and the ladies loos on the other. Unisex showers are at the front opening to the outside and are very narrow and 2 washing up sinks are in the centre next to the water tap. We went at a very busy time and we never had to queue for either the toilets or the showers for longer than is reasonable on any campsite. The washing up facilities are not adequate for the amount of campers they have staying and we often had a long wait before we could wash up.
There are issues with the water pressure, which I believe is not of the campsites making, however showers can vary from being freezing drips to scorching torrents and all the shades in between depending on how many other people are also showering, how many people are washing up and if anyone is washing their hands or flushing the toilets. The showers are of the stay-on variety which imo is infinitely preferable to those push ones, despite the pressure issues. They are kept pretty clean and stocked with loo roll but they are nowhere near approaching luxury but they would not put me off staying here again.
The other mini moan is that toys or equipment that is broken (like a swing in the playground, a car with no handlebars and missing 2 wheels and a swing seat near the office) should be either removed or mended and not simply left around where it looks unsightly.
We had a lovely time and will definitely be returning in the future.

Greenacres is really 'out in the sticks'; down narrow country lanes, but it is really quiet and peaceful, just what we like. The site is very flat, with the tent pitches round the edge and space in the middle for children to play. There were several games of rounders, cricket etc whilst we were there. The pitches are a good size, with plenty of space for our big, officially 12-berth, tent. It had rained quite a lot before we arrived, when we arrived & during our stay, so it did get quite muddy where the car tracks were & near the toilet block.
The toilets & showers were reasonably clean, but we felt, inadequate when the site was full - just 4 toilets in the ladies' & 3 sinks (including 1 large sink intended for hand-washing clothes- there was no laundry- & just a total of 4 showers for the entire site, which were very unpredictable; the water ranged from briefly hot, to tepid, to freezing cold! There were often queues for the showers.
There is a notice in each of the ladies' & gents' toilets, proudly announcing that the toilet block was built in 1976 - and it shows. It may be clean but it's really dated(looks like an old barn)and it could do with a makeover, tiled walls etc.
All in all, we were rather disappointed with the facilities, though it was fantastic that the information point also housed 2 fridges & freezers, for the free use of campers; an excellent idea! There was also a good selection of books which we could (and did!) borrow. There is a children's play area but it's really for small children; ours aged 12 & 10 were too old for that, but there was a selection of cricket bats, balls etc in the information point.

We stayed at Greenacres for 2 nights while attending a wedding nearby. The campsite is very good in our opinion. Our pitch was a good size and we found all of the facilities to be clean and well maintained. The surrounding countryside is quiet and looks like it would be great for walking/ cycling. The owners were lovely and there is a brilliant organic foods stall each morning 8.00-9.00 run by a local farmer, selling a variety of locally produced food including meat and yoghurts.
Lots of families were staying on the site but it was also ideal for couples.
