This campsite is a family run business which made our stay at greenacres even more welcoming. The showers were always cleaned every day along with the toilets and had all the facilities you could need ie, baby bath, clothe washing facilities, ironing board but no iron that I could see. Also, washing up facilities that were not always busy only late evening, calor gas supplies on site and an added incentive was the use of two large fridges and freezers day and night for food and freezer packs. My two young children thoroughly enjoyed the play area which tents were pitched around on lovely well looked after grass.
Barbeques are also allowed.
Leaflets of all surrounding areas and attractions were also available on site.
The campsite is set in the country roads of sheton mallet and it was hard to find nearby well known restaurants ie, mcdonalds, kfc etc, for the children but we did find them in Frome which was only 15 - 20 mins away altohough site owner was very good on dircetions.Nearby attractions are; wells cathedral(15 mins),wokey hole(15 mins), longleat(35 mins, with traffic, fleet air arm museum(30mins).
There is also a tescos in shepton mallet which is only 15 mins from site and in desperation there is a corner shop 5mins down road.
In all my family and I found this campsite fantastic and will definitely visit again soon.

Great site with the friendliest hosts we have ever come across
Good level pitches with plenty of space between them
Great for kids with safe playing space, also great for big kids we played volleyball one evening!
Lovely views across to the tor & beautiful uninterrupted skies at night,if its peace & quiet you want this is the place to be
Although the facilities are simple they are kept spotlessly clean
We loved this site so much we made an effort to spend 1 more night here on our return journey from Cornwall
Will definitely be back

We camped here for two nights. We had prebooked and were camping with 4 other families.
All of our party had two adults and two or three children.
Booking of this campsite was straight forward and you only had to pay your deposit in advance which is great.
Arrival was straight forward, owner/manager very pleasant and helpful payment on arrival. (doesn't take cards)
We were shown to our pitch.
The campsite is really lovely, two large flat fields with camping around the outside of the fields. Small play area with slide and wendy houses provided for young kids. Volley ball net and small football nets provided for older kids. Shed with good selection of books and bats / balls to play with.
Campsite very clean and the pitches were enormous. Lovely to have such open flat space for the kids to play ball games on.
No noise allowed after 11pm which seemed to be respected by all the campers.
Only one toilet block, very old fashioned but fully functioning. 4 ladies loos and two showers, I assume the same for the men.
The loos were clean but very old fashioned. The showers worked but there is no way I would have allowed my children to use the showers. They were quite dangerous as there was no temp control on them and the water was either boiling hot or freezing cold. The showers were also a bit manky which I didn't feel was acceptable for a campsite that had won so many awards.
On the plus side I truly felt that this was real camping, clear skies and relatively little noise.
The washing up facilities were also poor, only one sink for the whole of the site. However you can't have it all and overall the pluses definitely out weighed the minuses.
This campsite is great for families camping together who enjoy going back to basics. Cricket, rounders, a glass of wine etc. I wouldn't go to this campsite just as the five of us as my older kids (10 and 9) would have struggled to find other kids their age to play with.
My 5 year old would have been fine due to the lovely little play area.
Overall give this site a try, you won't be disappointed.

We had great weather which makes any site look at it's best, but this site would have been good in any weather. Good size field, level, good clean toilets and showers and washing up facilities. Very helpful and friendly owner who clearly takes a great deal of pride in this site.
I would recommend this site to all families. There is lots and lots to do nearby.
Cycle hire from site at very reasonable prices and lots and lots of flat lanes to explore.
We will definitely use this site again.

A really lovely site. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The pitches are a really good size compared to some sites we have been to. There is loads of space in the middle of the field for kids to run around and play football in. The children's play area was a winner with our children as well - we hardly saw them but we were close enough to keep an eye out!
Facilities are simple but very clean. We had a great time & would definitely go back.

This is a beautiful little site set on the Somerset levels near to Glastonbury. The toilet block clear and airy with the addition of washing up sinks, new for this year. The Fridges and freezers have been move so they are on site in a prepuce built hut that doubles up as the information point and holds all the games and books. Bikes are for hire.
This site has every thing that I look for in a site, small, quite, flat, well maintained and friendly.
This camp site has no light pollution so when you look up the stars are your blanket
For the cycle camper it is just off route 3 so idea as an one night stay or as a base to explore the surrounding area with Glastonbury and it’s Tor, Wells and Wookey hole near by.
Kids of all ages (0 to 70 age) here will a so much fun with the Wendy houses. The small football goal and the area in the middle for larger group games.

Site small but beautifully formed - tents round the outside; ample space in the middle for playing games, etc. The toilet and shower facilities are well-kept and clean. There are no washing up facilities but this was not a problem. There are fridges/freezers to put your food/ice blocks in which are brill for those without electric hookup. There are also books and games which are free to borrow, and bikes for a minimal hire amount. The kids play area includes two wendy houses, slide, swings, seesaw, is perfect for young children. The nearest local shop is a short drive away in Pilton. Glastonbury, Cheddar Caves and Wookey Hole are all within half-hours drive away. The owners are very helpful and obviously take much pride in their campsite. Its calm, community feel will appeal to families (like us) and couples alike.

Wow, what a find. Have just returned from a family get together at this site, 3 tents and our campervan, 8 adults and 7 children, age range 2 to 74. We ALL had a wonderful few days. I cannot add much that hasn't been said already, friendly owners, all inclusive price, this year £7 each adult per night, children under 4 free, between ages of 4 and 16 £2 per night. Use of freezers and fridges accesible any time between 8a.m and 8 p.m, very clean showers and loos, and very large pitches. We all had such fun playing rounders and cricket with half the people on the site joining in.
We had lovely fish and chips from Winstones (I think it was called) at Shepton Mallet, they were packed in cardboard boxes and were still very hot by the time we got back to the site. Visited Glastonbury Abbey which we all found interesting and climbed the Tor where the wind was so strong we nearly got blown off, but great views. Highly recommended.

Just a lovely campsite, quiet and hidden away. The kids play area is very handy, the toilets are clean, warm & draught free with plenty hot water. The owners are friendly and helpful. Easy access to Glastonbury, Wells and the Mendips. Fabulous.

Stayed here for one night just to get away. Really nice little backwater campsite. Nothing there apart from an old but very clean toilet block. There are a couple of little goal nets and some old play equipment and two very nice children's garden playhouses complete with toys. Very helpful owners and level good sized pitches. A gem of a campsite if you just want to chill and enjoy the peace, while the children play.
