Just returned from a five night stay at Nant y Croi.

The site is in an excellent location with beautiful views towards the sea.

We stayed in a fairly level sheltered spot. Whilst we were there the site was extremely quiet.

The owners made us feel very welcome, with Gordon doing daily rounds to chat to everyone and offering the kids rides in his quad bike, which was very popular.

The facilities were clean and well looked after.

The pot wash, fridges freezers and washing machine are in an outbuilding next to the farm, a short walk from the camping field.

The area is outstanding, especially the beaches, and Cardigan is a really lovely little town with good amenities.

One of the best highlights for us were the farm terriers Wanda and Ruby. Ruby had a litter of pups, who our daughter fell in love with. So much so, one is coming to live with us soon!

We can't wait for our next visit.

 Lovely Weekend!

I have only been camping once before this trip and it was awful so I had not been again until now.

We come to this site for the jubilee weekend which fell on my Auntys birthday as well and it was lovely.

Gordon and Mary were lovely and so helpful, they helped hide all the surprises we had planned and ordered our BBQ food. My Nanny stayed in one of the B&B rooms which was lovely, very big, clean and warm with a great shower and lots of tea.

The site for camping was great we have 4 tents in our party and set up on one side of huge field with amazing views!

The facilities are great (can only comment on the ladies loos though) 4 toilets and sinks cleaned everyday and always had loo roll. The showers were great, cubicles and a little changing room for each which made it easy to shower 2 adults and a child. These were also clean. The sink for washing up was at the farm house and is a bit of a walk but we cheated adn drove round in the car so was easy. In the outhouse where the sink is there is also 2 washing machines, 2 fridges, a freezer and tumble dryer.

We went to the beach one the day the weather was nice and had a BBQ down there. The walk over was apparently amazing and the drive there is easy. There are 140ish steps down to the beach but its not a hard walk as the steps are not steep.

There are no shops or pubs within a good walking distance but there are pubs, restaurants 2 supermarkets a B&Q and a town with all the normal shops within a 5-10 min drive.

Overall this was a great weekend and the site was amazing for us all. We will definitely return to this place again.

This site is perfect for those that want to get away from it all and want solitude!

If you want things to do on your doorstep, this is not the place for you - look elsewhere.

Mwnt is about 2 miles away by foot. This village is a beach, a cafe, a church and a campsite.

The other areas to visit are by road - although I'd recommend Aberaeron and New Quay in particular.

The farm has its own coastal area and the farmer will show you how to get down to the rocks where you can sometimes see seals and dolphins. We spent a couple of hours sitting on the rocks above the sea and got burnt without realising it! Well worth going down for a look - so relaxing.

The facilities are basic, there was one field in use when we went (although a second was being prepared), with EHU points around the edges of the field.

The showers/toilets were plentiful, well stocked and clean. The shower cubicles had a very large changing area idea for families.

The washing area is up at the farmhouse which can be a 5 minute walk from your pitch. It does go past a field with horses though, so it always took me longer!

The farmer was very welcoming, he checked if we were okay at least once a day. He is (rightly) proud of the view from the farm and proud of the area. If you want local information just ask and he is happy to oblige. I found it nice to get checked up on yet it wasn't intrusive.

The field was nearly deserted when we went - but the weather had been horrific. We were lucky to arrive just as the May scorcher week landed! We even had one night on our own up there - magical!

I think if I spent more than 3 nights I'd crave more to do. It certainly provided me with a great escape from daily life and I found myself yearning to return after I left. I will go back at some point.

We have just returned from a week’s family holiday at Nant Y Croi Farm with a caravan and a large tent with 5 adults and 2 children aged 3 and 11.

The first thing to mention is the setting, a huge gently sloping field overlooking the sea with Cardigan Bay stretching to the North and Cardigan Island just a mile away, watching the sunsets over the sea whilst relaxing with a drink was bliss.

Gordon and Mary could not have made us more welcome, both our pitches had been booked with hook up and we requested them next to each other which is what was provided, I asked if we could arrange ourselves as we wished and put up a gazebo between, as long as it did not affect others and did not need planning permission Gordon was happy to let us do this.

This freedom really helped to make the holiday and was a feature of the stay as long as you are sensible and allow for others. Gordon is great character and very attentive on his twice daily rounds making sure you are comfortable and happy, a great favourite with the kids is getting a ride on his quad bike or better still the grey pony. Donkeys and ponies are in abundance and all very friendly especially if you have a carrot or two.

The toilets are adequate and always kept clean and the 4 unisex showers are similar and about as spacious as I have seen on a campsite. Wash up is a short walk away in the farm outbuildings which gives you the chance to buy some local produce including cakes, milk and eggs (when the fox has not had the chickens),

if you are fan of bacon for breakfast spoil yourself and buy it from here it is thick cut and delicious, other meat and barbeque packs are also available. Other shopping is easy at the Cardigan Tesco about 10 mins away and the town provides a good selection of shops especially Dewi James the butcher in the high street and the local produce at a market on Thursdays is worth seeking out just off the High Street and well sign posted.

This is tourist South Wales and the site is well placed with the lovely St Davids an hour away to the south and Aberystwyth the same to the north and any number of things to do between them.

Mwnt Bay is a short walk from the farm and the kids loved the swimming there in sheltered safe waters, dogs are not allowed on that beach so I sat on the cliffs above a watched the Dolphins playing 100mts out to sea, a seal also stuck its head up to watch the fun on the beach.

The Cardigan Coast Path runs right alongside the site. If you enjoy steam trains go to Aberystwyth and take a ride on the Rheidol Valley narrow gauge it is spectacular and takes you high up the valley to Devil Bridge we all enjoyed the trip which takes about an hour in each direction.

If you want a beach for dogs Poppit Sands on the south side of the Tiefi estuary is about 20 minutes drive. We discovered a perfect spot for both dogs and children to swim at Craig Caerlian a couple of miles down the coast from New Quay (well worth a visit) this tiny bay is reached by narrow winding roads but when you get there you will find a café, tea shop, honesty box parking fees at £1 a day and a fresh water pool high up the shingle beach, we went twice and really enjoyed it.

If you like working museums I can highly recommend the Internal Fire Museum of Power at Tanygroes just off the A487 it is stuffed full of working diesel engines rescued from all over the country, it does not look much from the outside, yet, but once inside I was enthralled by the site, sound and smell of the engines

Our family all agreed that we were made to feel very welcome in Wales and never more so than by Gordon and Mary at the campsite and we also said that everywhere we went was good value and good fun. If you want freedom, peace and quiet and an easy relaxing holiday Nant Y Croi farm is the place for you.

We enjoyed our stay at this site very much.

Good Points:

- Gordan (the farmer) let the children ride on his quad bike with him, and his pony

- We loved feeding the donkeys

-The beach was great - very sandy

-The walk to the beach had lovely views

-The little cove was ace - we saw seals and dolphins, and sat and watched the sea for ages

- SO quiet

- Loads of space between the tents

- Very clean toilets and showers

- Gordan checks that you are alright, and will advise you about walks etc

Not so good points

-Quite a walk to wash up (some people had trolleys with wheels to carry the washing up - good idea)

-Quite a walk to the beach - but it was great when you got there

There are no shops or pubs around. There are shops in Cardigan - about 10 minutes drive

We will definitely be back

A lovely site with a terrific view of the sea (and dolphins). Gordon the owner is very obliging; nothing is too much trouble. I can only re-iterate what others have said really.

It's a great position, the facilities are well thought-out and the field never felt crowded at all, even though it was school summer holidays. T

he laundry/washing-up area/milk supplies are quite a long walk from the camping field, so if you have a bike it makes it a lot quicker!

We don't often go to Wales, but would certainly return to this site if we were in the area.

Excellent site with adequate/good facilities for a CL/CS. Actually easy to find if you take notice of the directions. The first night, on arrival we left the outfit near the entrance and went to find the owner, Gordon came down from a higher field on his quad and gave me a lift back to the van. We were able to find a pitch where we wanted to be with a view across the field to the sea.

Owner very friendly and does his rounds twice a day. Mwnt beach is beautiful and only a steady walk away. I went fishing at the rocky cove below the site and watched a seal watching me. Cardigan is 15 minutes away and is a typical Welsh town. The toilets and showers on the site are clean and spacious, not luxurious but everything worked.

Recommended for its sea view and friendly feel.

Just spent 4 lovely days and nights at this campsite. Even though the weather wasn't up to scratch, we had a fantastic time. The campsite is ideal because it isn't too crowded at all. There is plenty of space for everyone. There is a mixture of tents/caravans and camper vans on the site. They are a few electric hook up points, and the rest of the field for those who don't need it.

The facilities are great. The showers are the best that we have ever encountered on a campsite. Always hot and a good flow of water. The toilets were always clean and well stocked with toilet paper/paper towels etc. There is a also a single toilet cubicle at the far end of the field, so that you are not too far from a toilet. There are fridges/freezers for people to use, a washer and dryer and facilities to wash up from, these were situated at the farm.

Take time to explore the local countryside with walks to various beaches, seals and dolphins to see and great views across the sea and Wales.

The owners were very friendly and approachable. They sold us some local produce which was extremely tasty.

We will certainly be visiting this site again.

Thanks to Gordon and Mary for a very pleasant place to stay.

 Fantastic site.

We were on our first camping/touring holiday and we thought this one was the best.

Gordon is friendly and relaxed and there's a real working farm atmosphere, fantastic views, great facilities, and local sights.

Delivered all it said on the website and yes we did see the dolphins, from the private cove and from the view from our tent!

We only stopped for the night but stayed 4. Didn't really want to go!

We are just back from a week at this very peaceful site. Myself, husband and daughters (6 & 8) all very much enjoyed our stay.

The pitches are in a 10 Hectare field overlooking the sea. Previous reviews have said that the field was sloping which is true however there seemed plenty of flatter areas to pitch. It can get windy but there is a hedge that runs the length of the field you can tuck in behind.

Toilet facilities are in 2 portable cabins, one for the loos with several sinks and another for the 2 showers. The facilities were clean and there was plenty soap, paper towels, loo roll at all times. The showers were the best we have every had on a site and we have camped for years in the UK and abroad.

Yes they are basic in a portable cabin but behind your locked door which opens to views of the sea you have a huge space with a bench and window and then separate is the electric shower which can be moved up and down the wall and taken off the wall with a long hose so really easy to wash the wee ones/ have a shower without washing your hair!

The 4 of us easily fitted into the room together and there was none of the usual balancing act trying to keep things dry. There is another couple of showers in another field but we did not need to use these.

There is a single tap on the field for drinking water.

The dishwashing facilities are a walk away as part of the farm out buildings. It is the furthest we have ever had to walk to wash a plate and although didn't bother us could be a pain if you have tired toddlers. You can always take the car! To get there you walk past the field of donkeys and horses which the kids loved. They are all very friendly and love carrots. There was a really cute 3 week old donkey which loved the kids visits.

In the outbuilding there are 2 sinks and drainers so no washing outside in the rain huddled under a shelter as you do on some sites. There is also a large table, 2 fridge and freezers which you can use, 2 washing machines and a tumble drier (these take 2x £1 coins each a shot).

The biggest hit for the girls was the 6 week old puppies in the building next door. They spent hours playing with them. Gordon also has 3 other dogs all very friendly and keen to get attention from kids.

Gordon and Mary were very helpful and friendly with lots of local knowledge. They are more than happy for you to knock on their door at any time if you have any problems. Gordon comes around the site each night for a chat and as previous posts have said he brings his quad bike and Rosie the donkey for the kids to have a ride on!

The town is a 15 min drive away with tescos, somerfield and lots of local shops. We were surprised that on the sunday the town was empty and tescos shut at 4pm so don't get caught out with no food!

There were plenty of things to do nearby with lots of lovely beaches all with great toilet facilities. We managed to pack in a honey farm, a butterfly farm, an iron age settlement as well as visiting nearby by towns. There is a pool in Cardigan with the warmest children's pool ever however this is very run down there is also a soft play in the industrial estate at the other end of the town with fabulous food both helpful in the rain!

There is plenty of rock pools to go crabbing in and points to view seals / dolphins. Gordon very kindly decanted his cows from one field to another for us so we could go down to the rocks near the farm - our 6 year old was not convinced that it was safe to walk through them making monkey noises to distract them!

At the most there were 6 other tents / vans on the site with us n so there was plenty of space for the kids to roam around the field and never a queue for the facilities gordon tells us the site fills up in the Welsh school holidays and he makes space in the middle for ball games etc. So it would have a different feel to it then.

There is self catering and B&B facilities so ideal if you have friends who are fearful of tent life but still want to holiday with you!

The only unfortunate thing is that coming from Scotland it was such a long drive for us with an overnight stop so only really suitable for our main holiday otherwise we would be back in a few weeks for a long weekend!

Everyone else we met on site during our stay were planning to return.
