It's all been said before, but a lovely campsite with a tremendous view over Cardigan Bay. Our first time camping in many years, it was lovely to have warm welcome from Gordon and Mary who were always helpful. If you love animals you'll love Nant-y-Croi. If you want a peaceful site away from it all with plenty of bracing sea air, this is the place. Make sure you enjoy the lovely walk to Mwnt beach, which is just beautiful. Cardigan itself is a bustling country town and just a few miles away. Another favourite was nearby Cilgerran, with it's famous castle and a nice meal at family friendly and extremely quaint Pendre Inn. Further along the coast, Llangrannog and New Quay are a must. Nant-y-Croi is ideally based to see much of Cardigan Bay - that's if you can tear yourself away from the tranquility of the site!

What a lovely site! Gordon and Mary made us feel very welcome and we and the kids were allowed the run of the farm where it was safe (which meant everywhere except the hay bales).
The toilet and shower block was immaculate. Some comments have been made about there not being many ,the site is not really busy enough that you would wait long any way.
The field slopes gently to the cliffs where strong fences and gates prevent you from going too close to the edge. The only lights on the site are outside the toilet block, so theres no light disturbance to spoil the night sky.Gordon took the kids for a ride on his quad,I'm not sure who enjoyed it the most him or them.
The most welcoming site we have ever been on and we will be back soon and often,we can't recommend this site highly enough

Lovely farm campsite just a field in the middle of nowhere , beautiful sea view and to watch the Dolphins and seals swim pass. You can go sea fishing off the rocks which is only 2 fields away.
Showers and toilets are very basic but kept clean and tidy. There is no shop but you can buy sausage and bacon and cake for the farm. Laundry which is open all times.
And then there is Rosie, the Donkey she loves to be ridden, she wonders into the campsite in the morning after the farmer lets her out of her stable in the morning.
Gordon the owner is around on his quad bike most of the time and some times gives rides on it. He is a very pleasant and helpful man.

We visited in August and had a bit of a blustery time! - but we had a Fab time too.
Fabulous sunsets - donkey riding for the little one - walks across fields to the sea, just missed the dolphins but saw a lovely seal. Great kite flying weather - toilets and showers very clean - great atmosphere and Gordon was a truly brilliant host and our son still goes on and on about not being able to wait to see Gordon again soon. Lovely farm food for sale - great facilities for washing up / freezer etc - really peaceful away from it all location with sea views from the camp field I could just sit and watch for hours.
There is plenty to see and do in the area - cant remember the names of places we visited (have slept a time or two since the visit) but a fab river walk a short drive away - great local beaches and pretty towns to visit.
Hope to visit again soon.

We visited this site last year going on all the excellent reviews from this website. We were not disappointed and hope to return again this year.
The site is a haven of tranquility, acres of space and air and views out to see from wherever you pitch on the site. ( We spotted doplhins from the doorway of our tent one morning. DON'T forget your binoculars ! )
Being right on the coastline the site is sloping, but with careful pitching and arrangement of sleeping areas I think this can be minimised. At any rate the top of the main field is somewhat flatter and this is where the hook-ups are situated along with the toilet and shower facilities.
I know Gordon probably isn't keen on the facilities being referred to as ' basic ' . However, it must be said that although the loo and shower block isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the surroundings ( a portakabin affair ) it is the cleanest facilities we have ever used and we have stayed on 4 * sites in the past.
Cleanliness is top of my list of priorities when staying on a campsite and nant-y-croi scores 100%.
The loos are not simply swilled down with a hosepipe but cleaned properly with a cloth and bleach and more than once per day. So, although the facilities are not state of the art. They are spotless ! So if I had the choice of a dirty modern block and Gordon and Marys clean basic facilities I know which I would choose every time.
Did I say the loos were clean?!
The only thing I would say is that on drawing up to the site along the lane that runs behind the portakabin loos it immediately makes the place look scruffy and we did feel a little bit apprehensive.
I don't think the site needs a new block - but we did go to one site with portakabins which the ( farmer ) owners had clad in wood panelling and trained creepers up it. Made a little shrub/ herb garden with gravel round the outside. So perhaps something of that sort would improve the appearance. There's certainly no need for Gordon to be shelling out for a brand new block in my mind ( too commercial anyway ) because the shower rooms are absolutely HUGE and brilliant for families with little kids to all get washed in. ( might mean slightly longer waiting time perhaps, but its worth it )
That's the only improvement I would suggest along with perhaps a quick brush up and paint of the freezer room. But these are minor points and did not bother me once settled onto this beautiful site which even in August was nothing like full and never felt crowded.
Once you've had the obligatory putting up the tent argument you can instantly relax and immediately feel the blood pressure going down as you take in the full impact of the views.I could lie on my bed in the tent and look at the sea !.
You can walk along the coast to Mwnt ( about 20 minutes ) but those with dogs beware you can't take them actually onto this beach in high season.
The cove below the site is magical and well worth the treck back up after spotting seals and dolphins as we did. Although I did have to walk past one of Gordons cows on the way through the fields and I'm terrified of cows !
Poppit sands is well worth a visit ( the village you drive through to get to it has a creek where you can take the kids crabbing ) and also Tresaith where there's a pub serving food with a decked and patio area overlooking the sea.( although I would say the food isn't the greatest here )
There is a Tesco about two or three miles away with everything you need and Gordon and Mary sell sausages, bacon etc.( yum ! )
Gordon is quite a character and he makes sure you're happy campers and you might even get a ride on the quad if you're lucky !
The farm is pretty much open everywhere ( within reason - not hay bales or closed barns ) for kids and adults alike to roam, ponies and donkeys to feed and pat.Dogs to take for walks and a litter of puppies while we were there.Bliss !
It feels rather like stepping back in time to be honest.Rugged outdoors and old fashioned values ( Gordon lets the campers with kids hand the donkey round for short rides un-supervised some evenings - although can she have a new headcollar Gordon !. My daughter said she'll bring one next time we come ! Probably a pink one ! )
All in all. A breath of fresh air.

We have visited this site for each of the last 3 years summer holidays with our 3 kids and will struggle to beat it. All has been said by other reviewers. The local beaches are excellent and the towns of New Quay and Cardigan have proved a regular haunt during our time here.

After the recent death of my father we felt that we needed to get away from all the stresses and strains of everyday life. We (Me, partner and 2 kids) chose this site because of reading the reviews and thought it would be the perfect place to relax, I can only say that we certainly were not disappointed. It is the perfect place to just sit and watch the world go by. Kids loved the animals, and saw dolphins a couple of times while we just sat in the cove, which was a short walk through the field. The views are spectacular. To me it was a little piece of heaven in west wales. Gordon and Mary were helpful, but not intrusive. Nice to have a fridge freezer to use , and didn't mind the walk to do the dishes. Showers were good. No play area but that really didn't matter kids were happy running up and down the field with a kite, and it is only a short walk to Mwnt beach. For anyone who wants to get away from it all, this is the perfect place. We will definitely be visiting this site again.

We visited this site just after the August bank holiday for 4 days. After reading the reviews on here maybe we were expecting too much, because, initially, we thought it was bit rough around the edges, if not grubby. Our welcome was not exactly effusive and we might have liked some advice on where to pitch and some indication of where the facilities were, but, hey, we are grown ups and are capable of finding these things out for ourselves.
We thought that only two male toilets was a bit mean, two showers for the entire site was a bit ungenerous and the trek to the washing up block was I suppose, a useful cardio vascular work out. But these were first impressions, we had arisen early, it had been a long day, the 3 nippers, were enjoying their new found liberation from the car and as novice campers we were struggling to actually erect our lovely new Bear Lake. In short, we were grumpy, with a low tolerance threshold.
None of the above minor quibbles actually matter, because this site is idyllic. So, there are only two toilets, but they are cleaned regularly (performing morning ablutions while complete strangers are enjoying their morning evacuations within touching distance is a bit much though!) The showers are basic, but spacious, free and hot and always clean; the site seems to attract people who clean up after themselves a bit, and who cares if you have to wait when you have what must be one of the best views in the UK to gaze upon.Always with the chance that a dolphin might put on a show.
As for the trek to the washing up room, never mind that; the trek back is worth the price of admission alone, especially at sunset, and there are always little things going on around the yard which cause amusement, usually involving one of the dogs.
The welcome may not have been effusive but Gordon is actually a star: genuinely friendly, genuinely helpful, brilliant with nippers and very handy with a hosepipe for those of us who get caked head to toe in, er, stuff, after falling over at an inopportune moment.
Our fellow campers were a tranquil, pleasant bunch and all was generally quiet after about 10 pm every night. Admittedly the site was not full.
The site has no play area but it would be a very unimaginative child who did not find plenty to amuse themselves with here; from walking the dogs, to feeding the donkeys, horses and ponies, to being chauffeured about by Gordon on a tractor or quad bike. Failing that they could just run loose on the huge expanse of field.
The walk down to the cove is short and beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see seals and dolphins and the walk to Mwnt was a delight.
Cardigan is very close and as well as the usual shops has Yum yums, possibly the worlds finest sweet shop. Poppit sands is only minutes away with it's huge beach and endless dunes and a good free day out can be had at the wetland centre. Further away, the ice cream at Aberaeron is worth a detour.
The whole area is actually a delight. The site seems to be very isolated, hanging off the edge of the country, but that is one of it's greatest pleasures. However, you are never far away from a quarter of Vimto bon bons!
I repeat, this site is idyllic, great for everyone, don't hesitate to go there.

We Spent over a week here mid-August and would happily recommend the site to anyone. I can only repeat many of the comments already made: The owners, Gordon and Mary make you feel very welcome (I arrived very late but Gordon appeared to help me find a good spot); the location is great for beach and walking and kids find ample to do despite the absence of swings etc.
Gordon has 2 terriers that children are encouraged to take for walks and a donkey freely wanders the site. They (Gordon and Mary - not the donkeys) sell local produce and I reckon the sausages I bought were about the best ever.
The site is a working beef farm and it would have been nice to see and hear more information about day to day farm life. It might interest some and help bridge the gap between us city folk and farmers.
From the camping fields you can walk to Mwnt ("Munt") beach which takes about 15-20 minutes where there's a small safe beach and shop.

Have just returned from a week at this site. Unfortunately very mixed weather but the site is great. Slight slope but nothing too drastic. Toilet & shower facilities are OK- not many but the site does not get that busy and they are very clean Setting is amazing- great views Gordon the farmer is really friendly and our four children loved his daily visits. Kids can ride on the back of his quad bike, ride & feed the donkey, watch him herd the cows. Local beaches are beautiful- especially Mwnt/Aberporth Good size Tesco a couple of miles from site. This is a great- get away from it all site- no bars/no shop etc. Gordon does have a small selection of meat & eggs on sale Visit New Quay to see dolphins & seals- kids love it. Will return to this site
