If Carlsberg made caravan sites this would be it!
Our first visit to this terrific site, we had the friendliest welcome from Rusty and his son who explained everything we needed to know, including the opening hours of the pub.
It was tranquil and relaxed - no unnecessary rules and you got the feeling that all they wanted was for you to have a good time. It's no surprise that this is such a wonderful site as the family can be seen quietly working on it the whole time.
The quirky light system on the loo and shower is a good system and despite our doubts we didn't have to wait for them. We didn't venture far but can vouch for the meals in the pub, the friendly locals and the coastal walks. We will definitely be back.

This is a small and popular site, so you have to book far in advance. We were lucky and got a last-minute cancellation.
The site is very quiet & well-maintained, with friendly owners (and two wee dogs) who are helpful getting you on and off the generous-sized hardstanding. It's convenient for the pretty harbour village of Garlieston, handy for all that glorious Galloway has to offer, and located on the other side of the burn from the Caravan Club site, but without its views of the harbour. No recycling at all, which surprised us. We've been at other CSs that also have chickens, where we were actively encouraged to give them our leftovers but not here.
We came during the Snowdrop Festival, and walked from the site up to Galloway House Gardens (free or donation) to see the carpets of flowers there, then to the shore (site of the wartime Mulberry Harbour project) and back to the site - an enjoyable hour's loop.
Happy to recommend the site.

It is the second time I have stayed here over Christmas and New Year. The facilities are excellent. Immaculate showers and toilets. The pitches are well spaced out. Rusty the owner is extremely helpful and very welcoming. Excellent area for dog walking although the coastal path does get muddy.
The local pub is a 5 minute walk and the locals are extremely friendly. No meals are served in the Winter months.
Have booked again for this year and would recommend it to anyone who likes a peaceful site.

This a lovely peaceful site which was Adult only.
The access was good with hardstanding pitches, which where set in front of a small pond.
The facilities were excellent, with one shower and two toilets. We never had to wait for either.
The village is set around a bay with beautiful views also a small harbour which was good for fishing. Also coastal walks to Isle of Whithorn.
The village also has a Post Office which was full of provisions. Also small shop which sold newspaper's and variety of goods. The pub serve good food at a reasonable price, and the staff where very friendly.
The wet fish van came on Tuesday night with a good selection of fish.
It is about 40 minutes to Galloway Forest, which has some nice walks, and mountain bike trails.
We would recommend this site and we are looking forward to going again.

Lovely quiet adult only campsite, with only a few pitches. Facilities very clean and well maintained. The site has a small fishing lake where you can sit.
You can buy pork, bacon, eggs from the owner. A fish van visits the site on Tuesday evenings. There are also some large relaxed pigs at the edge of the site.
The village is a short walk away and has a post office that has provisions, a shop for papers and provisions, a pub that does lunches and dinners.
Garlieston is right on the coast and you can walk along quiet coastal paths. A lovely area to get away from it all and we would like to go back.

Lovely quiet site - adults only. The shower facilities consist of one unisex shower and there are only two toilets again unisex, didn't have to wait as relatively quiet.
The beach is 5 mins walk from site and there is a lovely walk along the coast. Local pub friendly & food good again only 5 mins away.
All in all a nice site not the best we've visited but would come back and the area is beautiful.
We have been to isle of whithorn recommend the steampacket for food and drinks. We also went to portpatrick again beautiful.
There is lots to do in the area and the site makes a nice base for visiting it.

We have been coming to this site for about the past 4 years. Just love it. Made so welcome all the time' Fishing the pond for trout up to 6lbs it cost 10£ a day. A lot off good walking around the area from 1hr to a full day to isle of Whithorn and a lot of book shops at wigton and a market on a Saturday. There is a fish van on a Tuesday. And a fish and chips van at the harbour on a Thursday and Sunday night. There is a small local bus with 1 hour service going to Newton stewart.

I don't really have much to add only to reiterate what others have said.
An absolutely fantastic site
Same price all year no matter the season, bank holiday Etc Etc
The traffic light system works a treat. Visible from all pitches.
The pork is to die for as are the eggs.
The locals are welcoming
The pub is dog friendly
The site is incredibly peaceful and quiet
No play area on site but with the harbour being literally 3 mins away kids will love it too
Village shop has extremely limited stock
We stayed here for 4 nights in Oct. Only 3 units on site. So really quiet
Lovely to sit in front of the van, Glass of wine in hand and watch the fish fight for the bread you throw in the water
Lovely walk along to the castle
We also bought extra bacon, Ribs Etc to bring home. Not to mention the free range eggs from the chickens were delicious.
Yes we would definitely return here. Peaceful, friendly and clean

An excellent gem of a site! We spent a very relaxing week here and would return to this site again and again. The pitches are set around the water and we regularly observed the fish jumping out the water from our caravan window. This site is excellent for anyone with dogs, there are a variety of walks on your doorstep from beach and coastal walks to forest. We recommend a visit to the Bladnoch Inn, which is a ten minute drive away. The food was excellent, reasonably priced and dog friendly. Rusty and Christine who own the site are very friendly and helpful and the site is a credit to them. Thank you for a brilliant holiday!

Nice quiet secure site with friendly owners. Good clean facilities and plenty of local information provided. Good access to site and all clean gravel hardstands. Dog friendly but need to keep them on a lead as there were rare breed hens around the site. They also have rare breed pigs next to the site.
Excellent coastal walking from site, although no views from site. On outskirts of village so handy for the shop and pub which are both easy walks.
Will return as more to see. Always seem busy for available pitches which is a good sign I suppose.
