Had a great time, clean toilet and shower block, children loved the playground and swimming pool. Pitch was a bit dry and stony and grass was sparse but when mentioned it to the warden they came back with a covering to prevent tent been damaged, very helpful. Entertainment was cheesy but the kids loved it, rabbits and ducks wandering around the site which the children were totally taken up with, will definitely be going back

We booked this site for 7 nights for our first holiday in our trailer tent with our 14 month old.
On arrival at the site we were really pleased with the touring pitch allocated and thought the touring park was lovely. The pitches were spacious as other people have stated.
We settled in and looked forward to our week. We arrived on Thursday and the touring park was lovely and quiet with lots of ducks and ducklings and rabbits and bunnies roaming round which our little one loved. We even had some ducklings wandering into our tent for a look round while we had breakfast!
On Friday afternoon however the park started filling up and by evening was full, mainly touring caravans but there were some large group tents and trailers dotted around.
It didn't get too noisy at night and any noise did seem to have died down after 11pm. However we were pitched amongst the caravans. The noise was coming from the tents on the other field and perhaps it would have been too noisy for us with our 14 month old if we were pitched next to the other tents.
On the Saturday night however it all changed for us as about 10.45 we were settling down for bed when we heard the zip on our tent and when I looked could see the shadow of a man trying to gain access to our tent from the side where the awning zips on to the trailer. My husband shouted out and we heard foot steps running away.
We called security and the warden arrived two minutes after our call to re-assure us that they would be around all night and we were not on our own. We did hear them drive past once shortly after but nothing after that. Obviously we got no sleep that night as we were worried having a 14 month old baby.
The next morning we decided to pack up and leave as the incident had scared us and we had lost faith in the site. I went to reception to explain we were leaving early and to see if there any been any other disturbances in the night. Nothing else had been reported. The staff were very helpful and showed concern. They offered us a static caravan free of charge for the remaining 4 nights of our holiday.
We were very grateful as we were a bit fed up about having to cut our holiday short as we were enjoying it before the incident.
The caravan was lovely and we very much enjoyed the rest of our stay. However the incident did put us off taking our trailer tent to the site again.
I would say in the week when it is quiet it is a lovely site however the site is completely different at the weekend and not wanting to sound like a snob there were some chavvy people staying on the touring pitch letting their kids wander round. We did feel at times we were babysitting 3 kids that were left to roam around, the youngest being only 4!
We visited the swimming pool on site and that was good. We didn't go to the club house at night as our little one was a bit too young for that but did hear that at the weekends it was full of teenagers and adults getting very drunk. Not that I have anything against drinking but I don't really like to do that around our little one. We did see some very drunk men coming out of the clubhouse early evening when we were taking our little one for a walk. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times. The food is quite expensive for what it is. Its like weatherspoons standard but more expensive. We bought the baby a meal which was one of the healthy kids options, the fish pie, and it was awful. Half of the fish pie was unedible and I wouldn't eat it never mind give it to the baby. It was rock hard. We did complain and they offered to give us some free garlic bread or ice cream for the baby. If you didn't want to cook every night there is little options to eat out or take away. There is a chippy just off site but it only opens at weekends and that is all there is in walking distance. There is a chippy and pub in beeston which you need to drive too.
The staff are very helpful and will bend over backwards for you. We were very impressed that they let us stay in the static as really they didn't have to do that. However the staff cant really help the type of people that were staying at the weekend. It is a shame as the touring site was nice however I don't think we will be visiting again.

Spur of the moment when weather was good, glad we went. Friendly reception staff, pitches good size, have large tent (7mx5m). Fairly quiet when we arrived Wednesday. Good points, refurbed shower, toilet blocks clean and tidy. Kids loved the pool, playground and camp club house. Real cheesy entertainment but kids smiling ear to ear. All staff friendly and always helpful. All in all a very good 4 days for £38 including passes.

This was a good value for money site with spacious pitches that were screened with hedges. Large playpark with adventure play and space to play football/tennis. A free swimming pool included with sauna/steam room and kiddie shallow bit (great for non swimmers like me) and evening entertainment. Optional extras such as tenpin bowling arcades etc. We know the area but there is Hornsea Freeport ten mins away. The seaside towns of Scarborough / Bridlington within the hour. Would go back again. 2 adults with 2 boys 7 and 9 with tourer and awning.

Just visited Skipsea Sands with my young daughter and found that the tent pitches were just dry patches of mud. The shower/toilet block was unusable due to no hot water.
I was told that there was a block closed for a refurb so things may get better. The park facilities are good but are in need of some TLC. The staff were friendly and helpful.
For less than a tenner it wasn't bad but the main reason I won't be going back is that the bingo is put on before the children's evening shows which I was told started at 8.30pm!

Lovely family site with good facilities. Nice big pitches, most with hedges to sides so you have your own space. Shower blocks cleaned regularly, unfortunate that some users clearly don't have toilets at home or why the fascination with messing these up, emptying loo roll etc?? beyond me!
Swimming pool nice, lovely chip shop close to site.
Only negative, which is out of anyones control is that there is no access to the beach due to coastal erosion.
Great value for money, will definitely go again!

We have just returned from our 1st visit to Skipsea Sands and were not totally impressed. The site had just opened for the 1st time this season and wewere told only one toilet block was open due to refurbishment. We went on Sat morning to use the showers to find ladies and gents both freezing water. We told reception who said they would be fixed later on. We went back at Saturday teatime and Sunday morning to find exactly the same, no hot water.
The pitch was a decent size although the awning space had not been re seeded over the winter so still muddy. They do have some hard standings. Good point nice fishing lake and bar/restaurant. Some noise from people leaving club passing our van at 2.00am.

Not a bad site overall. You know what expect with a large resort like this. The bar and entertainment were good, the kids loved it.
A big criticism (from a caravan perspective) is the lack of hard standing pitches in the touring section. The weather wasn't great and all the pitches were mud baths.
The toilet block was ok, not bad cleanliness, a little dated though.
The swimming pool was enjoyed by all (kids loved it) but it is very run down. The changing rooms and toilets were awful. This part of the site needs some serious money spent on it.
Loved all the wildlife, loads of ducks and rabbits around the site. The dog walk is quite good.
Not a bad site, the kids loved it and that's what it's all about.

Just returned from a three night break here.
Was guided to the pitch via a map from the reception staff.
Pitch was marked out with hedging which felt quite private.
Electric hook up very easy to reach with water supply too. This was light on a night.
Shower block was always warm but sometimes dirty (mainly grass on the floor), could do with mopping or a mop left handy for you to use.
Kids (aged 9 + 8) loved the play areas and entertainment centre, did the swimming pool for an hour, but preferred the pool in Bridlington town centre.
As stated access to the beach is further down the road. Skipsea is very quite with only one shop and pub.
Nice for a quite, relaxing break

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the beginning of September. The site itself is ok, friendly staff on the reception who directed us to our pitch which fortunately was right next to the toilet block. ** duplicated
The pitch itself was quite tough and there was a bit of rubbish blowing about, but I did like the fact that they were all fenced in with hedges either side. The toilet block started the day quite clean but only seemed to get cleaned once a day so by night time they were pretty minging! Also they are in need of a lot of updating. The showers have a separate changing bit in front of the showers which is nice.Just don't look up at the ceiling while having a shower! The ceiling is covered in mould! Plenty to do on site with a lovely new sports complex and massive sports hall to use. The park is ok for the kids. One word of warning, try not to get a pitch by the waters edge, while we were there feeding the ducks I counted at least 3 rats running around the caravans pitched there! not nice! There is more than enough to do in around the site as well but you need transport. Bridlington isn't too far away and its not a million miles to Hull in the other direction. Try Hornsea as well for the best fish and chips ever!
