Just returned from our 2nd weekend at this site this year, having initially tried it in March.
The site itself is really good - great facilities, pool, amusements, bar with great kids entertainment. The touring area isn't as good as others we've stayed on, but as previous reviewers have noted, the pitches are of a good size and are screened with hedges to allow privacy. We usually stay on Caravan Club sites and these just done come anywhere near to that standard.
Unlike the March weekend, this weekend the touring area was understandably full. On an evening it was very noisy, thanks to a number of large groups in neighbouring tourers. No wardens/security visible to help keep things to a reasonable level.
The touring area toilets and showers are not so good. The showers are quite grubby and in need of updating.
Staff are particularly friendly, especially the entertainment and reception staff.
A short drive takes you to a number of coastal towns including Hornsea (don't bother) and Bridlington. Nothing really within walking distance, unfortunately due to coastal erosion there is no longer any access to the beach.

We went with friends for a long weekend in April 2010 ( fri to mon ), and had a lovely time.
The pitches are hedged off for privacy, which we liked. The facilities were clean and tidy, and showers just the right temperature for the kids. Pool is fine, as is the indoor play area and the club house. Our full stay was pleasant and will be going back again. There is a nice pub in the village too that do good value meals and a lovely beer garden at the rear.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Skipsea Sands. On arrival we booked in and pitched out tent, on the site it states that pitches are 6m by 6m but they are not, they are very generous and we had plenty of space. The showers however are a different story. The shower has so much power that it almost removes your skin and the whole floor in the cubicles is flooded after, so getting dressed is very awkward. In the entire time we were there the showers/toilets were filthy all of the time and I never once saw a cleaner and it was the same in the gents so my husband told me. On the first night some of the campers decided to party, this was fine but when at midnight they were still hard at it then this was not so fine. I called security at 1.00am and I must admit they were there within seconds, unfortunately they took no notice and they partied till I eventually fell asleep around 3.00am. I called security several times and they did arrive promptly but the party continued so they were pretty useless really. The next day I complained to reception and they assured me that it would not happen again that night. I was meant to be winding down on a weekend break but instead we were all physically exhausted by day 2 and wanted to go home. The 2nd night they were very loud but all went quiet at 11pm which was absolutely fine. So we all could get a good nights sleep. The entertainment was cheesey but the kids enjoyed it,the cost of the beer was reasonable too, and my eldest and her friend who are 15 and 16 loved it. The location was good too, within a short drive from lots of seaside places and there is also a a bus from the site to bridlington every day.

Just returned from 5 nights at skipsea.
We booked this site with Clubcard vouchers and we where a little apprehensive, as normally big commercial sites like this treat tourers like second class citizens.
With this site it wasn't the case. The touring field was excellent with big pitches and two small toilet blocks. The hardstandings had its own water and waste points.
Everything was very clean and tidy.
The clubhouse, swimming pool and other facilities were excellent but not to overpowering, unlike the big haven sites. We spent the whole time on site as the car broke down and we still didn't get everything done that we wanted to.
I cant comment on the surrounding area as didn't really see any except the beach, which was nice.
Overall I would highly recommend the site, if you have kids its brilliant not sure if Id go without them though.

This was our final camp for this year, we should have gone the previous weekend when the weather was glorious!
The pitch was great, the best we've had this year. Each allocated area was hedged all around and very flat and well maintained.
Toilet/shower block was heated were okay and clean. As we arrived fairly late, we decided to eat in the bar, the food was lovely and the kids enjoyed it too.
All amenities were good, we even had chance to go swimming!
The only thing that did spoil it was the weather. We were up at 5am rescuing the canopy. This was the weekend when +38mph winds hit the east coast and not to say the last night we spent the night in a caravan.
But after all that, we would return to this site again. Enjoyed it.

The kids loved it. We were not so sure. Not our thing really with entertainment and slot machines.
Cost us a fortune to live on the site as of course the kids wanted to everything in an evening and join in the competitions
The on site restaurant is okay value wise but I would suggest it is more of a cafe than restaurant.
The kids entertainment in an evening was good to be fair especially 'silly steve' who the kids adored and to be fair managed to make the adults laugh at the same time.
Beware of kids tuckshops and slush puppies every night though
Had a bit of an issue with our neighbours one night as he attacked her with a hammer using language to make you weep and the police and ambulance ended up outside our tent. Not great when you have young children but I guess it could happen anywhere(?)
A different holiday but without doubt one that the children would repeat at the drop of a hat.

Just returned from 3 nights camping. The camping field was nice and flat, although it did have the feel that we were 'the poor relations'(even though it was a fairly hefty £25 per night). It was literally just a field, with no water supply or toilets (these were placed in the touring field where no doubt most of the people have their own loos anyway in case of emergencies!)
The toilet blocks were clean in the main, however, there seemed to be a problem with replacing the loo roll quickly enough, leaving lengthy periods without any at all. Also, the absence of any plug sockets in the ladies shower block left my teenage daughter distraught at the prospect of not being able to use her hair straighteners! Luckily, there were a couple of sockets in the laundry/washing-up room.
The showers were nice and hot, however, they were a little irritating, as once the shower button was pressed, you got literally 8 seconds of water before having to press it again (a minor annoyance, but a pain when trying to wash).
Staff were nice and friendly, with what appeared to be a good kids entertainment program. An over abundance of slot machines and arcade games gave the feeling that the site was out squeeze a few extra pounds from the holidaymakers. I can imagine that it would cost an arm an a leg for those with a few kids to keep them busy in the arcades for a couple of hours.
The site club was nice, with drinks being pitched at normal pub prices. Again, small problem in ladies toilets in that there wasn't a mirror to check makeup or brush hair, but I got the feeling that this was intentional to avoid crowds of teenage girls hogging the toilets all night!
Nice on site convenience store selling most essentials. Chip shop next to the site entrance, nice enough but a bit on the pricey side.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. I would pay the extra for a touring pitch if we were to go again, just for the water supply and to be near the toilet blocks.

We have been going to this site for 10 years. We booked early for our July holiday but also went at Spring Bank Holiday. The electric barrier did not work either visit. The toilets were dirty. The grass was not cut, there was litter all. I regularly went to reception to ask for the toilets to be cleaned (I was not alone doing this). The staff are all lovely and very helpful and cheerful.

Just returned from 6 nights camping here, the toilet and showers were very clean and fully stocked, however it was not to full capacity.
Lovely site with loads for the kids to do. The swimming pool was very safe and clean. The playground next to the touring site was great. The pitch itself was a good size with hedges dividing and 2 taps and ehu.
The access to the beach however was not safe and after asking at reception was directed along the road with 4 young boys eager to play to find very dangerous stairs. They are not suitable for kids, elderly etc. As we love sites with beach access and chose this site for that reason we wont return. Great site for families though.

On a whole this is a very nice site. We stayed for a week in April in a Static with a view to Camp later on in the year. The camping area is smashing with a children's adventure playground and a duck pond close by.
The swimming pool was very clean and had a shallow area for little ones. There was also an amusements arcade with Soft play area, a launderette, Sunbeds! and a Shop, items in shop were a little over priced and it wasn't that well stocked which would not normally be a problem but the nearest Supermarket is approximately 9 miles away in Bridlington.
The bar area and restaurant was well laid out with a very good menu. The staff unfortunately had no idea what they sold, how to work the tills etc this may have been because it was the beginning of the season.
The site had no beach access due to coastal erosion. The area where the beach had been was extremely dangerous as the road just disappeared. There was a sign saying road closed but no barriers stopping anyone falling over the edge.
The site on a whole is great, we just felt that it was a little far out and we had to get in the car for more than 30 minutes to get anywhere.
