First of all, we can't believe people on here have previously marked the site down for lack of facilities for kids. The sea and clean beach are literally on the doorstep, plenty of walks and nature abound, (we saw deer, minky whales, golden eagle and seals, just on walks from the site!), rock pools, the list goes on. If you're looking for a site that has a playground, nightly 'entertainment' in the bar, or anything like that. Go elsewhere. Please! Save this site for people who prefer the simpler things in life. Yes the facilities are maybe a little 'basic', but there's plenty of hot water for showering and washing up, a well stocked shop run by informative and friendly staff, and the location is simply stunning. The views of the mountains and/or ocean from every pitch are breathtaking and I'm always a bit disappointed in my photos from here as they never seem to do it justice. An amazing campsite, along with the ones at Durness, Achmelvich and Clachtoll, and Fidden Farm on Mull, one of, for us simple folk anyway, the finest in the country! Cheers for an ace week and can't wait to go back.

This site is in a most amazing spot on Skye, very remote on the drive up there but it's so special when you get there with grassed areas that were made into bays to park on. We didn't go for a serviced pitch as there are only 8 and they were booked. There is a beach immediately in front of you and the views of the mountains and walks are spectacular! On site shop was good and showers/toilets clean. A few miles up the road was Fairy Pools which is well worth a visit.
Stunning location - if you're going to Skye this is the best site to camp on in my opinion.

Glenbrittle on Skye is rather remote. Tucked away at sea and behind the Cuillins it's located on a great spot.
Pitching is easy and there is wide choice of places where to put your tent. Reception is very nice and they shared their information.
Toilet block was clean but not from the latest standard, but it not a big issue, it's clean and that counts!
There is a small shop with essentials at reasonable prices.
Also the fee is reasonable with £ 8, 00 per night.
Also nice is the Highland Wifi which you can use at a certain fee

Stayed here for one night in tent. Location is fantastic.
There is a shop for basics, ie tins of soup, fresh bread, milk etc. All clean and staff very friendly. Toliet block is a little bit basic but was clean enough and plenty of hot water for washing dishes etc. Shower was 20p a go. Only negatives were, all the bins were full of rubbish to overflowing and only two wash basins for the blokes so there could be a bit of a queue. Will go back again. Another plus point is that the tent pegs did actually go fully into the ground! This is a good site and should be on your list if you want to explore the area. The cost to us was 8 pounds per person per night. Simple as that.

If you are looking for a truly away from it all campsite then this hits the mark. The location is stunning, a lovely beach and bay to the front and the majestic black Cuillin right behind you. It is not often you sit on the beach and keep looking away from the sea for the view behind you! We pitched next to the beach, pitch was on a slight slope but was fine. There were plenty of large flat pitches to be had as well and they are all well spaced out. The showers and toilet block were fine, hot free showers and plenty of loos my only complaint no soap dispensers which irritates me a tiny bit.
The shop is a big bonus, well stocked, fresh danishes etc in morning, ice creams, midgy stuff etc etc. Yes a bit pricey but worth it when you are at the end of a 7 mile track. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Loads to do, walkers are spoilt for choice! No park etc but our 3 year old loved it, the beach and the wildlife had her hooked and it is a really safe environment.
We scored with the weather but we will be bck again whatever the weather as this is a very special place.

This site is beautiful. Stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed it, the scenery is breathtaking. The site is at the end of an 8 mile single track road at the side of the loch, but the road has plenty of passing places so not a problem. You have access straight onto the beach which the dogs loved. Toilets and showers were clean The owner was very nice and got us on at the last minute. Small shop on site in case you run out of milk or bread a bit pricey but expected, its a long drive to the shop.

Spent 2 weeks travelling around Scotland and this was one of our stops for a couple of nights.
Were so lucky with the weather and the sun shone whole time we were there.
Beautiful location with the Cuillins as the backdrop.
Showers and toilets clean, friendly owner and also got discount to visit Dunvegan Castle as its part of the estate.
Another campsite to recommend to people and will visit again

This is an isolated site run by The Dunvegan Estate. It is located on the sand dunes behind the beach and therefore there is little shelter if windy but the views are awesome if that’s what you like. The shop is ok and the wash blocks are kept clean and tidy with powerful hot showers.
We walked around the headland looking for sea otters but to no avail. The climb to the top of the Cuillins is well worth it. The interesting geology mostly comprises black volcanic rocks at the top and the scree run to the ridge is one of the best I‘ve done. Shame about the mist for the last 200 metres which had inevitably gone by the time I’d returned to camp!
Great site for couple of nights, or longer if you really want to get away from it all.

I thought this was the best campsite of 4 that I stayed in on Skye. I chose it because 'Daily Telegraph' readers said it was the best campsite in Britain. Yes it was the best location in the UK but it is 10 miles back up the valley to the nearest shop or pub. So in my book, this site loses some marks.

The backdrop of the Cuillin mountains makes the location of this campsite very special indeed. It's also right on the beach which is grey rather than golden sand, but this reflects the fact that the local stone is granite.
The site must get very windy at times but it was calm and sunny when we were there. The price to pay for this was the prevalence of midges who intermittently made life quite miserable. The pitches are spaced well apart with good access and all within easy reach of a water point.
The shop stocks basic supplies and is predictably expensive. Apparently the hostel down the road also has a shop but we didn't investigate. The facilities were adequate. Toilets were basic, clean and always had loo roll, the showers were powerful, hot and free. I did have to queue, but not for long, and there was a free hairdryer. The sink for dishwashing, whilst inside the toilet block, was apart from the toilet facilities and I really can't imagine how this could pose any kind of health risk!
There are hundreds of walks nearby, ranging from gentle strolls to full-on mountaineering. Talisker bay is a comparatively short drive away and the bay is truly dramatic.
Yes, it is isolated and shops are a long way away, but you know that before you go and as isolation was what I was after, it fitted the bill perfectly.
