I can't add anything to the other reviews but I would like to put a warning to other caravaners. This is a fabulous site with outstanding views in a superb walking area, but it is NOT for the fainthearted or un-confident tow-er! The road in is a 7 mile single track road with passing places, full of some lethal potholes, with some very steep climbs and bends.
It is also a very busy road as it is used to get to the Cullins for walkers and climbers, many of whom parked along the road and made it a bit difficult to get the van round. Some of the passing places are quite big but you have be prepared to pull in to them a lot and be patient - this is not a site you will get to or leave in a hurry! Having said that it is worth it when you get there!
Also, it is a long way to the nearest shops so unless you want to rely on the campsite shop - which is very very well stocked - make sure you stock up in advance.
But oh - the beach! The views! The silence!

If the definition of a good camp site is 'location location location' then this is probably one of the very best. It is situated about 7 miles down a single track road and is right at the foot of the Cullin Ridge, beside a pretty little bay. Having said that, if you are not a keen walker or sea kayaker then one or two nights is probably sufficient for the experience - the novelty of the 14 mile round trip to a proper road would soon wear off. Having said that, once you reach the road, the Talisker distillery, Dunvegan and Sligachan are all relatively easy to get to.
There is one very large 'but' though. The site gets very busy with hikers and climbers - they quote 220 pitches which means there could be anything up to 500 people staying on the site at any one time; there are only two showers for each gender and two washing up sinks in the male toilets and the same in the female (which means, if you are a couple, you have to fight over who does the washing up!). There was not a single occasion where we did not need to queue for a shower, for a washing up sink or, on occasion, a toilet cubicle - which also run out of paper on a frequent basis.
There is a shop on-site but the opening hours are so restricted that you end up having to plan your day around when you can find it open.
Another word of warning, as you will see from a number of other reviews: because of its location right at the foot of the mountains, it gets windy, very very windy, mostly at night when you are trying to sleep - make sure you have a tent that is designed for high winds.

This was the most remote campsite we stayed at during our week in Scotland, but easily the most memorable. It really made our holiday. We stayed for two nights. After the first evening, the rain arrived and never really stopped but it was still our favourite part of the week!
The views were very dramatic and our small children loved the freedom of the beautiful beach. We even managed a short walk into the hills with them from the campsite when the rain stopped for a bit. There were no midges to bother us when we were there.
The staff at the campsite were helpful and friendly, and the shop was well stocked with enough that a trip back along the long single track road would not be necessary for basics or a meal. The shower and toilet blocks were indeed rural, as another reviewer described, but very clean and perfectly acceptable.
We would definitely go back.

We chose this site as we wanted to have a taste of wild camping with facilities nearby, and we were not disappointed. A fantastic location at the foot of the Cuillins, beneith Sgurr nan gillian mountain. The most incredible dawn I have ever seen with the red sky behind the mountain. The campsite is near the beach at the end of the loch, within a glen, and you can see the Inner Hebrides from the shore.
We climbed the foothills of the mountain next day, fabulous walks and unmatched scenery.
There are decent showers, very powerful, almost like a back massage! Sinks and toilets provided, didn't check to see if there's a laundry.
You must arrive on time to get the code from reception for these facilities, or phone in advance as there is a combination lock.
There are ample pitches for tents and some for touring caravans and campervans.
One must beware that this is an exposed location, the winds off the mountain and shore were severe when we were there and several tents were broken. Bring a tent that can stand it during high winds if camping this time of year! Not one too high. Best to camp in a slightly more sheltered area where the camper vans are if you are coming and it's windy.
Good prices too, very cheap indeed.

We stayed at this site while on our recent trip to Skye. The campsite has a lovely location, right near the beach. We did not have electric hook up (they are situated right by the toilet block) but we parked on the grassed camping area. We could park where we wanted which is good as we had friends with us and we chose a nice area where we could park the 2 campervans. The downfall of where we parked was it was a little distance from the shower block. The grassed area is well maintained and there was a few water points to re-fill water. The shower block was basic but ok, there were only 2 ladies showers and there was a wait for the shower but there were quite a few sinks and toilets. There was one sih washing area within the shower block and the shop has a well stocked basic range of food and drink but also stocks walking and camping gear and some souvenirs.
The electric hook up area was right near the shower block and fenced off from the rest of the site by a gate. People have to go past this area to go to the shower block.
We had a load of midges unfortunately when we visited which sort of ruined it as we could not sit outside. I do not think the site has a good TV signal but we could watch a DVD.
The camping only cost £6 per person per night.
A few miles up the road are the lovely fairy pools.

Our first time to Skye, and we were not disappointed! The campsite is very well laid out, with little secluded pitching/parking spots in between the natural rolls of the fields, making the whole place seem quite deserted and remote even though there was a fair few campers.
As with everywhere on the west coast, be prepared for the midge invasion!
The water problem mentioned in earlier reviews no longer the case, and there are several standpipes to get drinking water from on the site. No chemical toilet waste facilities, but the toilet block is accessible and clean, with free hot showers and free toilet roll! Luxury!
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the shop sells a good range of food supplies and camping gear.
The location is simply breathtaking, nestling on the shoreline, sheltered in-between the hills surrounding loch brittle. With some fantastic walks into the cullins or along the coast past stunning waterfalls. Just a couple of miles back up the road from the campsite is a lovely walk past the famous fairy pools of Skye - a cold swim can be had through the underwater arch, very invigorating!
We had two teenage girls and a 9yr old lad with us, and they loved the freedom of the site and the beach, and spotting wild life (we saw 2 golden eagles, a sea eagle, a small herd of dear on the beach, and various other birds and animals). The dog loved roaming the deserted beach early in the mornings whilst I collected some very tasty mussels!
All in all it is by far the best location we have ever stayed at, we will be back soon.

Found this site by recommendation. Was not disappointed at all! Breathtaking views on the drive in, down a single track road about 7 miles off the beaten track.
Arrived at shop/reception at 7.00pm and were told we could pick our own spot. Very few rules, so nice atmosphere, helped by warden giving assistance when our tent poles broke.
Facilities a bit basic but tidy, shop well stocked and reasonably priced with friendly staff. If you're looking for a site where you can get away from it all, this is for you.
All in all a hidden treasure, and we will most certainly be back (with more defences against midgies!).

Paid for an electric hook up, advise checking one is available before doing so! People had parked badly leaving little space for our small van so went back to reception to say we had changed our minds and would camp without electric, not able to get a refund.
Site is in a lovely location with the Cuillin Mountains as a back drop and a nice beach. The facilities were not clean, very basic and there were only two showers in the ladies for a lot of campers!
Would go again but be prepared for poor facilities this time.
Recommend insect repellent, got bitten by something that looked like a horse fly, not nice.

This site is in a stunning location, next to the beach and at the foot of the cullin mountains. Good value at only £10 per night for us, small shop which is well stocked, and reasonably priced.
When we were there, there was a warning on the drinking water as it had to be boiled before drinking and be careful not to swallow the water when showering and brushing teeth etc which was a bit annoying (we fully admit we are fussy campers!) but we just bought bottled water from the shop.
Facilities are very basic but were very clean. Shop provided a good range of basic requirements. The pitches are very well spaced out and are a good size. Overall, a fantastic site in a beautiful stunning location, lovely drive in from main road around 7 miles.
It was breezy during most of our stay so midgies were not a problem, apart from when we were packing up.

Minor gripe that they will not take bookings in advance. We were a party of 3 touring vans driving over 7 hours and a risk to take to get here and find not enough space.Especially when you navigate the roads to get down to the site.
We got there and found only electric hook ups available for 2 vans until 3rd became available next day.
That all having been said we would have stayed here without electrics. So stunning is the location. It blew us away. The Cuillins on one side and a gorgeous sandy bay on the other. Heaven.
We were further blessed by glorious weather for 3 days, then a humdinger of a storm which had us all wondering if our awnings would still be there in the morning.
Facilities very basic but satisfactory, and the location makes up for any hardship.
Midges a nightmare, but that's scotland for you, the shop sells face nets and if ever a good reason to smoke cigarettes they are.
Fantastic walks along the headland and into the Cuillins. Bliss.
