 Visited site between July 16-20 2001. Fantastic location below the Cuillins, ideal for walks into the mountains or around the coast.
Site has a small shop which has fresh milk eggs bread. Also most other basic things. Owners friendly and helpful. The site consists of grass pitches, some of which are right on the beach in Glenbrittle bay. No electricity hook up and the site is not really suitable for caravans due to the access from Carbost, we did not see any during our stay, however motor homes were on the site. There is also a static caravan or two for rent.
The facilities were clean and functional, not luxurious but perfectly adequate. All hot water is included in the overnight charge.
Glenbrittle beach is mostly stone and grey sand. There is a lot of plastic debris on the beach, however this seems to be the case all around Skye and was one of the disappointing aspects of an otherwise beautiful island.
Recommend the Talisker distillery at Carbost and a boat trip from Elgol to see the seals. The boat trip takes you to Loch Coruisk and you may return on the boat or walk back along the coast. The walk has fine views and combined with a walk around the Loch is excellent.
