This was our first proper camping holiday as a family, and I don't think we could have picked a better site to start with.

The wardens were friendly (strict, but friendly) and helpful.

Our pitch was spacious in length, though slightly narrow: we just squeezed into the pitch sideways (allowing for the obligatory 3m surround) as we have a wide tent - but easily parked our car in front of us, and could have fit a pup tent there too if required. Next time we'll go for a larger pitch.

There are good facilities which were really well maintained, the only slight problems were hot showers (lovely for adults but not great for small children), and the hairdryer in the ladies' was free but a bit feeble - taking me 5 minutes just to dry my bit of fringe. I didn't bother trying to dry the rest.

Washing-up/ veg prep/ laundry room was immaculate. I only had to queue once for the washing machine, and then only for 30mins - in peak season! (nb the washing machine costs £2 in £1coins, and the drier takes 50p pieces, costing us about £1. 50 to fully dry a large load)

Playing field was very spacious with football nets, basketball hoop and barbecues. Balls, bubbles, and buckets&spades can be purchased at reception (as can icecreams)

As well as the freezer-pack service (20p each pack) they offer a phone/ battery recharging service (£1), which was invaluable when my camera battery ran out.

The site is very convenient for family trips to the Needles Park and the lovely sandy beach at Compton Bay (carpark free to National Trust members). We also recommend a visit to Robin Hill on the other side of the island (especially the evenings when the woods are lit up).

Overall, a lovely holiday based at a lovely peaceful site - I'm sure we'll be back.

Just returned from a week on the fabulous isle of wight. Great campsite. Very clean and well organised site. Ample pitch space. We have a very large tent and we had plenty of room to sit outside and park our car along the front of our pitch.

There is a playing field but no playground, which I think would benefit the site.

The only negative point I would have is that the site is a little 'military' but don't let this put you off as the rules are put in place for a reason.

Thank you for a lovely stay

Stayed for 5 nights in a standard pitch in the smaller of the 2 fields. The pitch wasn't big, with little space between each tent and you did feel rather on top of your neighbours. Wherever else we have stayed there has always been ample space to park your car adjacent to your tent but here if you have anything above a mid size tent your only option is to park in front of your tent which doesn't give you much of a view. You would be better paying for a premier pitch in the larger field which appeared more spacious and some pitches even have sea views.

Staff were really friendly and its a very well run site with good facilities. Plenty of hot water and hairdryers available. Showers do not have any temperature control so not great for young children and there are no other family facilities.

There is a large playing field with football goals and basketball hoop and picnic benches however you are not allowed to play any ball games anywhere else, which for us was a bit disappointing.

Freshwater is a short walk away for any essentials. You can also walk to Colwell bay in about 10 mins which has a sandy beach and the Barefoot cafe is worth a visit. Good base to explore all around the island.

Heathfield Farm is a well maintained site. We per booked 3 nights with ferry crossing at a good price.

The wardens are a lovely couple, who are very helpful and friendly without being intrusive.

The pitches are a good size and level. The weekend we stayed had seen a month rainfall, but we were directed to park on wooden pads to stop us sinking.

The facilities are very clean and new. Loads of hot water. Perhaps during busy periods they may be queues.

All in all a lovely, peaceful site, that we would highly recommend. ( and is suitable for lowered VW Campervans )

Fantastic site, Bob and Gaye the site wardens were also fantastic, they even supplied wooden boards to park up on due to the heavy rainfall. Nothing was too much trouble. Also facilities spotless and well maintained and good wifi coverage at a reasonable rate.

Great location, about 5 min walk into Freshwater for shops and pub and bus stop right outside the camp which enables you to travel throughout the island.

Also lovely walk into Yarmouth through Fort Victoria Country Park and coastal path (takes about 1 hour). Will definitely return - hopefully the sun will be shining next time!

Stayed at Heathfield Farm for four nights, what a lovely site, when we arrived the ground was still soft following some days of heavy rain and I was concerned that I may struggle to get off my pitch. The warden, found us some plywood strips to park on and came with some more on our day of departure to make sure that we got up the slight slope. Bob and Gaye, the wardens, were very helpful and the toilets/showers were spotless (I don't think I've seen any as clean). My only slight criticism would be the size of the shower cubicles.

The site is all grass with marked pitches and has a lovely open feel to it. The games field, with goal posts and barbeque, is a huge bonus for those with children (it's very nice for those without as well!)

Plenty of walks and cycling in the area and buses pass nearby so that you can access the rest of the Island.

Plenty off shops/pubs etc in Freshwater which is only an easy 5min walk away

We will certainly return.

A well organised campsite for camping enthusiasts. If organised is what you like then this is camping heaven. Very clear marked pitches some of which are quite far from facilities.

We booked 5 pitches for 5 tents but weren't told that you can actually fit 2-3 tents on each pitch - which would have been helpful to know. Suggest 1 4xman and 1 2xman plus a car.

Make sure you read the rules and regulations or watch out for the fun police! One of which is no ball games. This would suit families and kids (who don't like balls) more than a group of 15 thirty year olds who came back a little tipsy one night.

Otherwise a very nice site, at the pretty end of the island. Super pubs in Yarmouth. Freshwater pretty dreary. But a MUST is Barefoot on the Beach at Colwell Bay. Delicious food and a bean bags to dose on afterwards.

Travelled to the Island of Wight on a plastic sheet covered ferry which was awaiting the hordes of returning mud encrusted Festival revellers to darken it's decks! Certainly when we drove through Newport and past the Festival ground we breathed a sigh of relief that the sun was shining and we were heading to the west of the Island, and to what we hoped was the relative sanctuary of Heathfield Farm!Luckily we were not disappointed.

A warm welcome by Bob and Gaye the resident wardens, allowed us to relax and take our bearings of the immaculate site and to choose a top notch pitch. All the pitches are very generous and we were given the added benefit of boards to park our VW wheels on so that we did not sink into the soft ground.

This is certainly the cleanest and tidiest site we have ever been to, obviously a lot of love and pride is put into upkeeping this friendly and relaxing campsite. Take advantage of the lovely walks that surround you, maps of which can be brought from the well stocked information hut.

Walk to Yarmouth and back along the Yar estuary and across the heathland to Alum Bay and the Needles. And much more. Oh, and visit the Barefoot on the Beach Cafe at Colwell Bay, you could be in New England. Try the Moules and Frites and glass of chilled chablis for a touch of seaside glamour! A lot more sun and less fog would have secured top notch enjoyment!

Visited for 6 days 25th of June onwards,

Found site to be spotlessly maintained. Toilet block was adequate and very clean, we did not use the play area but it looks well maintained and safe.

The local sainsburys and the co op are within walking distance, the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The helpful staff on site have good local knowledge of surrounding area.

Excellent dog exercise area.

Two pubs who welcome dogs and have a good atmosphere are the Highdown at Totland and the Red Lion at freshwater where we had the best sunday lunch but you do need to book in advance.

We loved this well kept and very peaceful site! We spent a week here over the Jubilee weekend and although the weather wasn't kind to us - especially at the end of the week when there were gale force winds - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves - and happy to accept the site rules regarding quiet after 10. 30 pm.

The wardens were very friendly and helpful and there is a good sized playing field for the children and a lovely big field for dog walking.

The marked pitches are large and level and kept well mown and the facilities were kept clean in spite of the weather and the site being full.

The Vine in Freshwater changed hands over the weekend so was not doing food at the moment - but the fish and chip shop opposite did a wonderful cod and chips!

If you are looking for peace and quiet and a very short drive from the Ferry at Yarmouth, give this one a try!
