Excellent Site, Highly Recommended.
We were there with 3 units, with 3 adjacent pitches as previously agreed with the site. Facilities are good and clean, the showers are small but you soon get used to them. Even though there are ony 3 showers in the male toilets I never had to wait once in the whole of the two week holiday.
The Vine in Freshwater is excellent, but booking is recommended.
The Beach at Colwell is a short walk, we went through the farm and holiday park to the beach, away from the main area at Colwell with the toilets and shops, but much quieter.
Sports field on the site with goal posts and basket ball net.
Plenty of room on pitches and the field is not overcrowded. It would be possible to get another line of pitches in the field but would then lose the openness.
Highly recommended. When we return to the I.O.W. We will be staying here.

'If Carlsberg done Campsites, this would probably be the most relaxing Campsite in the world'
10 Nights away at this fantastic little site, Bob and Gaye are extremely friendly and welcoming, the site is very clean and extremely well kept. There is a great field for the kids to play in with goal posts and a basketball net. Good clean fun for the kids and not a slot machine in site. Washing up facilities are good and clean, never had to queue. There are only three small showers though, the baby changing one being the biggest, and although the site was fully booked I never saw a queue.
The best pub we found within walking distance was 'The Vine' the food was fantastic, however there was no children's area. The Three Bishops in Brightstone, Great Food and a Childrens area, also the Hare and Hounds great food with a small children's area but watch out for the Ghost of the Headless Woodcutter.
I would definitely recommend this site and cant wait to go back myself.

We visited this site on the 2/8/2010 for a stay of 10 days. We were greeted by the wardens who are very nice people. The site is in a great location for touring the isle of Wight. They have a playing field for children and a field to walk dogs. The site was full most of the time we were there, the only let down is the lack of toilets and showers, we booked this site after reading the reviews about it and noted that a new shower block was open. Apart from this issue its a great site to stay at. Also there is a great fish and chip shop called 'RAINBOW' in the town fantastic food.

We spent a week there in late July 2010 and really enjoyed our stay at the campsite with our 6 month old daughter and 2 grand parents.
We opted for the large size pitches (think they were 12 and 13) and had plenty of room, but would have struggled for space on the standard pitches with our bear lake 6 with extension and the car and trailer. So if you like your space, well worth paying the extra.
The wardens are very helpful if not a little strict! We found it odd that when we arrived at 10.30am (straight off the ferry) we were told no book in until 12 even though our pitch was vacant. After staying there for the full week we could totally understand why. The campsite was very busy when we stayed and the wardens, only 2 of them, have their work cut out getting the site ready for the new arrivals at 12. And then they all seem to arrive at once. Rules are there for a reason and in this case it is justified! So please respect the rules and save embarrassment, don't turn up till after 12 on the day of check in. Enjoy the island for a while and leave them to get things just right for when you arrive. You won’t be disappointed!
The site itself is well managed and all facilities are there. The new shower block is great, even though only three showers in the gents (never had to queue once and the site was jammed), and keep as clean as can be expected with that many people on site. Washing facilities all under cover and plenty of sinks and large washing machine with tumble dryer.
Local area, well to be honest we didn't leave the site that much, but found the local village to have a small co-op and Sainsbury’s on the high street, but if you venture a bit further along you'll find a larger co-op with much more choice. Great butchers in the village selling some great sausage and bacon, and the porterhouse steaks aren’t too bad either! Oh, and the chippy is also worth a visit! Local beach is small but nice and only a 10 minute walk from the site. Do pick your time as when the tide is there is no beach left to speak off.
All in all, good site, great wardens and great weather.
Ps The views from the 'premium view pitches' are great, but when half the campsite turns up outside your door to look at the sunset (which are fab) then your view will be ruined! Go for the standard or large pitches!

We ended up with a very large pitch when we arrived as we had been told that we didn't need to book, however on arrival we found the tent field was full. After a few calculations the warden's found us a spot in the caravan/campervan field - we expected a squeeze, but non of the other units that seemed to be booked in seemed to show, so we were happy.
Facilities were OK but not brilliant. They were very small and had a temporary portacabin feel to them. Plenty of hot water though and good laundry facilities.
We explored the needles, Yarmouth and surrounding area from here - nice base for the west side of the island.

We visited this site in June for two weeks and was lucky to have almost unbroken hot and sunny weather. First time camping on the Isle of Wight and we will definitely return to the island.
We found Heathfields to be a very well run and clean site that is quiet and relaxed. Although the showers are quite small they were kept clean and tidy and after the additional toilet block was opened up in the second week were adequate for the site (having a lazy holiday meant that we never used the showers until about 10am each day by which time we never had any problems)
Within walking distance there is a nice pub in Freshwater called The Vine which does reasonable food, gets busy though. Worth noting is that wifi is now available and a fellow camper ensured me it was a very good connection speed.
I would recommend the site for campers requiring peace and quiet, and also dog owners as there is a nice big dog exercise field.

We have just returned from 9 nights on this sight
They have a new toilet and shower unit this year, my complaint is they are too small. In the toilets you could knock your arms on the toilet paper holder and two of the showers are very small and it was a job for me to keep anything dry
There is one family shower with a seat at the end, but the baby changing unit is over seat so it's a job to sit down. The other two smaller showers have no seat. The three hand basins opposite the toilets have no plugs or privacy and the hand drier is next to the first toilet and you are in the way of people using the first toilet.
This is a lovely site and well run but its a shame about the new toilets and showers.
While we were there the site was not busy and the other toilet block with hand basin cubicles in was mostly closed.

A really excellent site. The pitch was just perfect in the corner as you drive in to the field. We booked in early January 2009 and requested the pitch from a google satellite image as it seemed the best location. The toilets and showers were good, clean and close at hand. There was a rally on at the time ( retired civil servants), they were very friendly and we made some friends amongst them. The site is ideal for the location, easy to get to Yarmouth, Freshwater, Cowes etc. We would certainly go back to this site and highly recommend it to anyone. The Caravan field is dog free and any ball games must be played in the adjoining field. Very friendly wardens and very helpful. Fabulous site.

We stayed for two weeks at heathfield and enjoyed the peace and quiet as there is no facilities eg club house. The main gates get locked at 22.30 and you have to leave your car in the outer carpark which never caused a problem. The site managers are new this year and where very helpful and friendly. We chose the extra large pitches at the bottom of the site and they are ample for car+trailer and vermont xl.Shops and pubs are 10min walk or 2min drive.Only criticism is showers are a bit tight if you are of a larger build

Stayed for one night whilst cycle touring round the Island with my son and brother-in-law. Found the warden at reception most helpful in accommodating our 3 x 2 person tents on to a larger pitch. The washing facilities were very good and clean, the sort of family sized site that we would use for a week’s holiday, should we go to the IOW in the future. Local shops and an exceptional fish and chip shop in Freshwater only a 10 minute walk away. Best described as a very clean, well run and safe site.
