We had a great 1 week stay at Heathfield Farm. The site is very well run and organised with strict rules in place (which obviously makes it a better place to stay!). The pitch size we camped on wasn't huge, we had a 6man dome tent and with a similar size tent next to us - we were very close (some pitches may have been larger?). Though our pitch was nice and flat, literally as soon as someone departs, the manager of the site is mowing and tidying the pitch for the next arrivals. The showers were fine (free), though a bit of a squeeze if you are above average in size! The toilets and showers were kept very clean all week, though on Friday of the Bank Holiday weekend, the standard dropped somewhat, that was more to do with being very busy and people not keeping the facilities clean - the managers of the site can only do so much :-) Overall a very good site, though got very busy during the Bank Holiday, in reality where wouldn't? Very well run, nice managers on site, though as already mentioned all rules are enforced. We struggled to see the magnificent views? It was mainly families with tents and tourers and a few small tents camping for 1 or 2 nights. No club house, shops etc - though you can buy gas on site. A large playing field for the children (no park), though good for ball games etc. There is an excellent fish and chip shop in Freshwater called Rainbow's Fish and Chips, though gets very busy so expect a wait. Blackgang Chine is well worth a visit if you have young children and is very good value. If you go to the Needles, fun fayre, chairlift etc - take a picnic the cafe is dreadful! The other odd thing was the location, I was surprised it was just off a housing estate which I didn't expect, though once you were on the site it was fine and had a nice rural feel.

Excellent site, only 5 minutes from Yarmouth ferry port and beautiful beach. Marked generally flat pitches, some with hook-up. We stayed two nights, facilities spotless, although no shop on site (not even milk and bread). Wardens run a tight ship rigidly enforcing the rules and the night time curfew, which may or may not be your cup of tea! Pitches may be tight, depending upon the size of tent you have - but check, the size does vary. We had no problems with our Coleman 5 man. We got them to book the ferry too - which was cheaper than booking direct with Wightlink. Will visit again!

This is an immaculately kept and well-organised site. It's very safe for children, having CCTV, and has a large adjoining play area. Pitches are reasonable in size, and round the edge of a level, well-kept field.
There is a well-cleaned (free) shower and washroom area, recycling facilities, and a helpful warden in reception.
The views though aren't what you might be led to believe. You might catch a snatch of the sea as you walk back from the toilet, but for most of the pitches, the only view you'll get is of hedges or the surrounding new-build - this is a site that's now very much in the suburbs.
If your ideal site is one which is well-equipt, safe and convenient then I'd recommend it. However, if your ideal site is one where you're not pitched within 3m of your neighbour all round the edge of a big field with nothing to look at but each other, and can actually feel a little more in touch with nature, it's possibly not your cup of tea.

We stayed here for two weeks and had a fantastic time. The site does slope but not very much, the site warden was very helpful. In the photo of the site where the caravan is, is about where our own van was. The bit of fence that you see is a strip of ground about 3 metres wide which runs along the centre of the camp site, this has been planted with trees and is looking good. The site is clean and toilet / showers well maintained. The main gates are locked at 10.30pm and open at 7am. There is parking on site should you be out late. The site attracted a mix of tents, tourers & motor homes. It was also very quiet despite there being several families including our own. And as usual met some great people (hi Debbie & John) when we visit the island again we will go here.

August 2003 Good Bits = Tidy, beautiful views of Freshwater Bay, very clean wash/toilet facilities, quiet, big open field for children to run and play, very friendly helpful wardens and owner.

July 2003 This was a lovely campsite, fairly quiet. Facilities were generally good, very clean. lots of free hot water. washing machine and tumble drier available. icepack service and gas cylinder exchange both proved useful services. I would certainly use this site again.
