We stayed here in April and very much enjoyed our stay. The site is quite large and very child friendly, which was a bit of a worry when we first arrived as we were looking for a quiet holiday.
However, we were placed in a lovely spot towards the back of the site just far enough away from the main hub to enjoy the peace and quiet we were looking for.
There are a couple of pubs and shops about a 5 minute walk away and you can get a bus into Lyme Regis. It's also possible to walk into Lyme Regis but not along the coastal path which has been closed due to landslides.
The nearby beaches were lovely and we tried our hand at fossil hunting but with little success so resorted to buying one at the beach fossil shop.
We would return to this site, as the area itself is so lovely and there are many other interesting places still to explore around an about the area.

A good site. The staff were friendly on arrival and throughout our stay. We had a super pitch opposite the club house and although you could hear the entertainment our kids' (3 and 7) sleep wasn't affected by it. The on site takeaway was very convenient.
The club house had hand pump beer (always a bonus!) and entertainment most nights including bands, bingo. Although there wasn't any kiddie specific entertainment the '2p' machine was more than enough to keep them entertained!
Our kids enjoyed the play park and the pool immensely. Toilet/shower block generally OK. Charmouth good for fossil hunting, the local heritage centre give guided tours for what to look out for - recommended. I would recommend the site.

Just had a 4 night stay here and I must say it is a very good camp site. Very spacious and the kids loved it. I never really saw my 10 year old as he was off on the park or playing in the stream with all the friends he made.
The park is great as is the swimming pool, it has a shop and take away also a bar with bear garden - so dogs are happy too! On the down side the toilets and shower rooms are not as clean as I would like. They were not cleaned properly all the time I was there and as it is a busy time of year I would have thought that it would have needed cleaning more often.
Also the noise from the road is very loud at night it sounds like an airport runway. So no nice country sounds I'm afraid.
On the whole I would give this thumbs up although I do think its a bit pricey. We paid £38 per night for 4 people and 2 dogs. For that money I would have liked clean loos.

This is the second time that I have stayed at this site, all the staff are very nice and friendly and always helpful the toilets are so clean you could eat food off the floor.
The site is kept tidy and clean, if I had to say something that could be better is the swimming pool could stay open longer.
The beach is close by, if the camp shop has not got what you require the local shops are just outside the gate, if you do not feel like cooking the take away on site is very good and great value, I am looking forward already to next year for a return visit. It is very child friendly.

A group of us stayed at this campsite 5 separate families together so there were a lot of us! we found the site quite easily and made our way to the reception, please note: should you wish to pitch your tent before 12pm, you will need to pay for an early check in.
There are virtually no flat surfaces to pitch on so we found it a little uncomfortable. Toilets and washrooms were fine - a little smelly at times and slippery and they are closed from 7pm at night till 7am the following morning but there was never a queue and it was quite busy. Clubhouse was fine for smaller children and Bingo players, and the evening entertainment was ok.
Only downside was the weather as it poured down all weekend but they cant be held responsible for that.
If you have teenage girls that want to take straighteners and hairdryers the main washroom block is the only one with plug points.
Lyme regis is only 4 miles away with a park and ride - please use it as car parking can be a pain in the town.
Would go back

Nice site. The lower field is full mostly of static touring vans, so we skipped those and went for the upper field as it was emptier (although a bit closer to the main road) we preferred it for the space and countryside views. Toilet block is modern and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. The club/bar seemed popular, with plenty of parents leaving their kids playing outside into the evening. Shop is small but has essentials plus drinks/sweets etc. Playpark is fine for kids up to 7/8. The heated open air pool is great, only open at certain times but there's a lifeguard.
Good location - Charmouth is small, everywhere in the village is within earshot of the main road (don't expect countryside-silent nights, but if you're used town life it'll seem quiet) and a few minutes walk from the beach, local shops, couple of pubs etc. Local chippy cafe food was great, they do takeaway too and it's popular - allow a few minutes to queue.
Would visit again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in February
The toilets were freezing, there is a small radiator on the wall next to the door, but the door didn't close properly. The showers were tepid, and were operated by 'push button' which isn't a problem in it's self, unless your stood in semi cold water and it won't turn off, and there is no shower curtain to protect your clothes
Our pitch was on a slope, take more than two levelling blocks
All the other facilities were closed as it is low season, so I can't comment on them,
And at £16 per night, a little over the top.
Charmouth is fine, a couple of minutes walk away, two pubs, a couple of small shops for the essentials.

Stayed here for a week in the middle of august and had a very pleasant stay!
The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was nice being able to choose where we wanted to pitch, even though they were quite full.
Nice pool, though a bit small & the opening hours could've been longer.
The toilets, showers etc. Were fairly clean and we never had to wait. Didn't make use of the takeaway or the food in the 'clubhouse', but we did use the clubhouse most nights even if it was only for a couple of pints. Some good entertainment with bands,'disco', bingo etc.Plus a couple of nice pubs in the town, with plenty of food and drink a few mins away in Lyme Regis.
The local area has loads to do with endless places to visit within a short drive.Great for fossil hunting and coastal walks etc., and go to the Donkey sanctuary!
All in all would highly recommend the site, great for families!

We booked here after having read mixed reviews with some trepidation, but we wanted to stay in Charmouth & this was the only campsite with spaces when we booked at the last minute (expensive at £32 per night!). However, after checking in, we drove to the furthest away field available, and found ourselves a lovely spot in an uncrowded field with wonderful sea views (perfect location except for the road noise - see below). The shower block in this field was by far the best - very new & clean, and was cleaned regularly during our stay. We stayed away from the social club, swimming pool (not hot enough weather), and kids playground, it all looked pretty uninviting to us. On the positive side the staff were friendly on check-in, the beach was 15 minutes walk (at a 5year olds pace!), and the pub / fish & chip shop in the village are good & only 10 mins walk away, also found a great local butcher on the high street who sold us all we needed for a lovely BBQ. A big site so offers something for everyone - peace & solitude or otherwise! Final note - do not stay at any campsite in Charmouth itself if road noise bothers you - all seem to be near to the A35, and the hum of traffic, day or night, is sufficient to drown out the sounds of the 'countryside'!

The host was very helpful and polite, the site itself we found not so good. The shower block furthest from the club house had no hooks / hangers or soap shelves, the shower heads wet all walls and floor and were generally poor, which was a shame because the blocks are clean and modern. We took the trouble to drive to another shower block with bigger cubicles and soap shelves (shower heads the same). The wash basins are too small, wet shaving was difficult. The pan/pot washing area was fine, as were the lavatories. The noise from the by-pass which cuts through the centre of the site must also be mentioned. The stream which runs through the site could be a nice feature, however the section near the bridge, leading to the pool area, we found the view ruined with old concrete blocks, litter and what appeared to be old vomit. The tent fields are large with plenty of room, however if you want a level pitch with electricity and little traffic noise, you may be disappointed. The sites proximity to Charmouth with its various food shops, pubs, chip shop etc. Is very good; also a well stocked camping store was a bonus and all only a short walk away. The quarter mile walk along a footpath to the coast we did not check out.
