This camp site was a last minute find after driving around. We stayed in a large field with views over Charmouth Bay - this was a plus. It would have been quiet had the group of tents next to us not had 2 large dogs roaming free. The field had ruts and tractor tracks which made pitching up a little difficult, it may have been an overspill field. The toilet block servicing this area was basic and I didn't brave a shower, that said, the blocks on other parts of the site looked a bit better. We had two nights and it served the purpose.

We have just come back from a long weekend and our first visit to this camp site. The shower and toilet blocks are very clean (hot showers lasting more than 30sec). The new clubhouse is very nice as was the food. All the staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. We will certainly be returning to this site in the very near future.

Well they've done it. They've managed to erect a brand new club house. They demolished the old CH the end of last season in September and the new CH was completed the week before Easter. Looks fantastic and is a lot bigger than the previous. There's more super pitches to which is great news. All they need to do now is to make the swimming pool bigger. Always nice to get away to friendly atmosphere.

August 2005 Great campsite we have been coming for ten years. The family who run it are friendly and welcoming. There is a play park for the children, a club house for evening entertainment with a take away place adjacent (friendly staff Jason and Louise) and an outdoor heated swimming pool. The campsite has two lots of toilet and shower blocks and a laundrette. There is a beach within walking distance and a small river in between. The village has a post office, Two corner Shops, Butchers,Two Hairdressers, chemist , Chip shop, and two cafe's. This is a great place to have a fun and relaxing holiday in one go. The campsite caters for hook ups and non hook ups so everyone is welcome (including cats dogs parrots etc,) This campsite is a place to be tried and you will come back for more I am sure.

August 2005 Absolutely super site! Robin and his family are extremely helpful and polite. Very busy at peak times but I wouldn't expect anything else from a large site with everything on it. Wonderful playground for our grandchildren, a shop that stocks the basics, super heated pool, great club with good entertainment and a brill 'take your own plate' cooked breakfast at weekends from the take-away that also offers a 'healthy' option! Charmouth is a pretty village on a beautiful coastline. My wife and I have been to several different sites but this is the one for us!

August 2005 We have just returned from our two week hols here. We absolutley love this site! There is a brand new toilet / shower block in the second field which was very much needed. The campsite is kept clean and tidy... there was a guy going about picking up litter daily. We enjoyed the entertainment in the clubhouse... a different act every night through high season from tribute bands to karaoke. The clubhouse is in need of expanding due to the campsites popularity! It was well ventilated so we didn't find it too smoky. The pool was lovely... heated to tepid bath water temp! Kids spent a lot of time in it.... pity it's not open all day like most are. The kids play area is huge... they add a new item every year it seems. When I was a kid they only had a few swings! Our kids love it at Charmouth more than anywhere else.... see you next year Robin & Co

August 2005 I had read the recent reviews of this site before leaving for a weekend in early August. We had arranged to stay at the site as my parents were staying there in their caravan for a week. They had saved us a place opposite their pitch, which was close to the stream / swimming pool area. There were 2 toilet / washing blocks; one near the bar / entertainment area (which we didn't use but heard). We found the toilet blocks clean and the showers hot. The children (aged 5 and 9) enjoyed the pool on the Sunday morning. It was certainly warm enough for an outside pool. I did find the bar quite noisy, as there was music playing there, but it stopped by 11pm and then the site was very quiet. I agree with previous comments that the far field, by the newest toilet blocks, would have been noisy, as it was very close to the road. We could hear some traffic where we were (near the entrance) but not too bad. The shop is basic, expensive and dusty / tired looking, but it had the essential milk and juice we needed. I came away with a more positive attitude than the one I had anticiapted!

August 2005 Spent one night here as we decided to break our journey home from Cornwall. Had previously stayed here about 4-5 years ago. Found the staff just as friendly and accomodating as before, we had not booked and although the electric pitches were 'full' were given electric by the owner providing a rather long extention lead and repositioning other leads. The site is old but many improvments had been added since we last stayed. We actually like the old but friendly club house as the children are allowed to be just that children....not so restricted as they are on other more modern sites. Would happily stay here if in Dorset again.

July 2005 On arrival we were told to find a pitch which was nice. What wasn't so nice was waiting around for the owner to make sure we 'pitched' correctly. After a 15 min wait at our chosen pitch with screaming kids in the back I had to go and find him, not what you need after a long drive.
The site was very busy and lively which was really nice for the kids. There was a fair ground in town with loud music and big rides at the time we stayed. So the evenings were not quiet until around 11pm.
We were in the main area so didn't hear the road at all.
They need to look at staff levels as the owner was definitely struggling to maintain a good level of service, and could be quite short at times.
