Used this site for a weekend visit but so much to see and do will probably return again. Very nice site. Well laid out, modern, clean facilities. Great location. Train station, bus stops, 2 pubs and shops in the village. Every thing you need. 45 min walk, 5 min drive to Bovington Tank Museum, 5 miles from Lulworth Cove. The only criticism is the on site showers. No water pressure and a very fine spray. Wife wouldn't wash her hair because she wasn't confident that she could rinse out the shampoo.

The site is close to a railway line and road but don't let this put you off after a few hours we didn't notice the trains or road the toilet shower block was always clean and tidy even though the site was very busy, although water pressure was a little low. Very helpful friendly owners, reasonably well stocked shop and calor gas on sale on site as well. There are 2 pubs a couple of minutes walk away both of which do good food, there are 2 takeaways and another pub that also does food a small supermarket and bakery in the village about 10 minutes walk, the fish and chip shop is a bit hit or miss. The local bus service is good but a better bet is the main line station to Weymouth or Poole, Bournemouth the other

What a nice site. Managed to book a pitch a week before the bank holiday, We fell on our feet there. This is a nice sized site for the amount of pitches.
Speaking of pitches they are rectangular, as are most sites, however some of them are orientated in such a way that the ' long' sides are adjacent and therefore you seem on top of the next one, especially if the children like to be up and about early (pre- 07:30).
The railway line isn't too bad, the trains sound their horns as they approach the pedestrian crossings, and there are a few. The toilets etc are spotlessly clean, and the reception is ideal, essentials are available as are some repair bits should you need them.
The two local pubs are worth a mention, The Ship Inn is the closest and more child friendly, it also has sport tv if you're addicted. The Black Bear, in the other direction, personally, is the better of the two, ales well kept, marvellous staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. Both are dog friendly.

We hadn't booked as it wasn't high season & we like the freedom this gives us. We had, however, driven around the area looking for a campsite & had found some real duds! In the end we were so tired after our drive we said 'the next site we find, we're staying!'
So Whitemead it was. Which was lucky because this is a really nice campsite. Not much in the way of views but the grounds are very well maintained & the shower blocks are spotlessly clean. I think they are the best we've ever seen!
The staff were very friendly, our dog was welcome & they weren't regimental when he managed to do his Houdini acts.
Very good value in an area where the campsites seemed rather expensive.
There is a railway that runs alongside, as others have mentioned, & at first we were very apprehensive about this, but honestly, we barely noticed it, as it is small & the trains are slow & limited.
Good positioning for seeing Dorset with a lot of attractions nearby. There is also a fish & chips takeaway just outside where I had the best cod in batter I've ever had!
A lovely campsite, the only downside for us, was the lack of views in our section; we were looking at a hedge & the back wall of a house, but this section was small & the only area where this is the case, the rest were much better.

Just back from whitemead, another fantastic time. We come here every year,
The site is very clean and well kept, the grounds people are about most of the day, and the owner is always about ready to chat. The facilities are immaculate.
A main train line runs next to the site. But you get used to it very quickly, in fact we miss it when home. The station is a 2 minute walk away so very good for getting about.
They have just installed WIFI. There is a 3 hour limit each day, but the service is free. Speed is very good for browsing.
Looking forward to next year.

Stayed here for a week for work, so I was on my own and don't ask for much. Site and toilets were spotlessly clean and well maintained. There is a small shop selling camping & food basics which was handy.
Showers were free and hot and there was enough space to put your clothes without them getting wet, but still the annoying de facto 15 second push button, but at least you could control the water temperature. The shower/toilet blocks looked brand new they were so clean.
The train line does run by the campsite as others have said, but the trains are moving very slow so are not very noisy, and although they do toot their horns it's only a very short toot. They stop around 11pm - 6am I think, and it didn't affect my sleep (and I'm a light sleeper), don't let it put you off staying.
There is free wifi, but there's quite a low daily limit, so it'd be fine for checking emails etc, just don't expect to watch telly through it!
I did spot a kids playground there, but didn't investigate so can't comment on how good it was, but there is one!
I'd definitely stay here again, the staff were friendly, and the price was great too.

This is a lovely site. We made a last minute booking having moved from another site close by. The owners were most welcoming and said that we could arrive early as we were close by.
The toilet block was very clean, showers had plenty of hot water. We were there just after bank holiday so it was a bit quieter, we didn't have to queue for the showers. As we have a baby, it would be useful to have a sink we could bath him in, but we coped in the shower.
It is close to the train station in Wool and the noise is something that you have to get used to. But it really didn't bother us. As we are in a motorhome it was the closeness to the train that we are interested in. Easily walked in 10 mins. We caught a train to Weymouth and also into Christchurch and Poole. Every time a train approaches a foot crossing, even the one close to the site that is closed, it has to sound its horn.
We went to the pub opposite the site (other side of the railway line) which was very nice, but busy. We got our free bottle of wine using a voucher from the site shop.
Close to the shops in the village, the Spar was well stocked and open late in the evening.
We would go back to this site in the future, it is in a great location. Totally recommended.

Whitemead was quiet, clean, and quite leafy. We had friends at the Durdle Door, which (despite the natural beauty of the Durdle Door) I thought looked crowded and really not worth the price.
Showers and toilets were clean. As for the trains, not an issue at all - it was lovely, green and leafy.
We did not go into Wool itself except to use the Spar, which was fine. In all, a very nice place to venture about.

This is the first time we have visited this site. We found the toilet block and facilities excellent. Electric Hook-ups. The pitches are grass - but are well kept.
The site is well located for visiting Lulworth Cove (5 miles), Weymouth (13 miles) Dorchester (11 miles) and is also close to Wareham and Poole. We were able to leave the motorhome on site because the bus and train services were only a 5 min walk away.
There is a walk from Wool to Lulworth Cove and it is approximately 5 miles. The village has pubs and shops which are adequately stocked - the site also has a small shop for everyday items. We had good weather (so consider ourselves fortunate).
We stayed for 3 days, but it is such a pleasant and relaxing site that if we had not had other commitments we would have liked to have extended our stay. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming - which is a bonus.

We stayed for 4 nights at this site and only wished we could have stayed longer. It is a lovely site with pitches clearly laid out and with lots of space surrounding them-plenty of room for our 6 man tunnel tent and car and for us to sit outside.
The facilities at the site were excellent and cleaned on a very regular basis. They are modern and plenty available, even at busy times. This seemed a popular site with couples and families alike but it still remained peaceful which was fantastic.
The site is split into several fields, divided by hedges which gives privacy which was really nice. It is located near the railway line but this didn't effect us getting a good night's sleep.
The location of the site is excellent with lots to do in the local area-we went to Lulworth Cove which was really nice for walking along the coastal path.
I would definitely stay at this site again. I thought it offered excellent value for money, especially for the quality of the facilities it provides.
The site is a real credit to its owners and staff and I would recommend it most definitely to all.
