Arrived without prior booking and was settled in very quickly. Really nice site. Its quiet, basic but clean and cheap! It costs 20p for a shower but you're given ample time (5 mins) for a good wash down! Plan to return end of October. Was very pleased. Towns a stones throw away with a couple of shops for basic provisions. If you're wanting posh this wont be the site for you but if clean and basic is what you want - its great!

WOW!
This is a fantastic site and well located. The views where nice and the owners very friendly. We didn't have enough lead on the electric hook up and was given an extension no problem.
The showers where a bit dated however where very clean. Shop on site was OK however what grip we had with this site was we paid to stay which I believe should include the facilities such as showers but you do have to pay 20p, which doesn't sound a lot however if you are a family of four stating for a week it would add up.
Tintagel town itself is lovely and the walk into town is flat. The town is dog friendly and has a lovely Indian and the King Arthur served a mean steak.
We did try the local bus service however my view to this is don't bother. We went to Padstow which took 2 hours in total after a swap at Wadebridge. The time didn't bother us it was the reliability of the bus service itself. After paying £8. 50 for a rover ticket for a bus service to be unreliable is terrible. We waited 2.5 hours for the connection bus from Wadebride to Tintagel and the only reason we waited this long is because the taxi quote we got wa £28. We did notice the park and ride near Padstow seemed reasonable at £4 for all day including the ride to Padstow and this service was regular.
I would definitely return as Tintagel is a gem in itself.

Stayed here in September 2012, one of the very few nice weeks. We arrived about 12. 20pm, and were shown to the electric hook up area. This was quite flat with lovely views around the coast. The facilities were basic but spotlessly clean, the grass areas were well kept and very neat with a small play area for the kids.
All in all very nice site, with a quiet and relaxed feel to it. Just a couple of hundred yards from Tintagel town, so no car or buses needed, lovely coast path, with a very rugged coast to explore.
Tintagel is a nice Cornish village, with lots of nice shops and pubs. Allegedly the location of King Arthurs castle, so lots of memorabilia and mystic shops. Nice bakery selling great pasties.
Very nice site will stay again.

Nice site in very convenient location for the facilities in Tintagel (shops, pubs, take-aways etc) and for access to the coast path. Bus service available in the village.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers were always clean. Laundry room with freezer facilities and washing up area were well maintained.
A small shop on site stocking basics but plenty of shops in the village. We even had a couple of days of nice weather!

Stayed 5 days here, sadly the only campsite in Tintagel, so expensive for what you get, showers are 20p, no marked pitches, so in busy times you may be only a few feet from the next tent.
The main field is sloping away from the entrance, at the bottom of the field it was very muddy, so much so that a lot of campervans & motohomes had to be pulled out by the grumpy owner.
In the middle of the site is the children's play area so can be noisy.
The site is in a lovely place, the walks that are around the the site are really good,
The town of Tintsgel is about 5 mins walk, full of all you could ever need.

Popped down for a one nighter, in between the rain, booked in at reception, no probs, went to the bottom of the slope, and found the ground was well drained, only a loo block down here, but it was immaculate, also washbasins too, very clean and good water supply. Showers are up the top next to the entrance, bit of a slog but then if you wanted to, you could drive up, haha. Lovely inland views at this site, must be the best located site in cornwall. Pull up in car, pitch then don't drive again!tintagel is full of day trippers mostly german and dutch, but by 5pm they have all gone and the pubs are left for us, and it was great, the king arthur was the best, for service and food, also tried wootons hotel, again good service, but food was average and expensive. Good pint though. A good basic site which does things well.
Will be back!

I got to the site after the reception had shut as it was a last minute decision to go, but a cheeky Phonecall to the site and 10 minutes later I was booked in. Very helpful gent who dealt with me.
Price was very reasonable and I found the toilet block to be very clean (given the weather conditions and the fact that you couldn't help but walk mud or grass into the building).
The site itself looked well maintained and I look forward to going back again in the future.

We think this is a nice little site. We’ve stayed here twice now to walk sections of the SW Coast Path and the site is handy for both the coast path and a bus stop in the village (ie bus out - walk back).
The facilities aren’t particularly modern but are kept clean. There is an extra toilet block with washing up facilities at the bottom of the field and plenty of hot water. Showers are 20p (adjustable electric). There is also a small shop on site which we didn’t use.
It is a short walk to the centre of Tintagel where there is a good selection of places to eat – chip shop, Indian, pubs etc, and importantly good availability of locally brewed ales.
We’d definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Headland.
As other reviews say it is ideally located for a short walk into town where there are a couple of pubs, an indian restaurant, an italian restaurant, a fish n chip shop and a few touristy shops selling the usual tat to keep the kids amused for a day.
The site itself is well maintained with the showers & toilets being very clean, there is no heating in the shower block so it was pretty cold, washing up facilities were good with plenty of hot water. The showers are 20p which wasn't a big deal. The toilet block at the bottom of the field where we were had no hot water due to a boiler fault which was a little inconvenient as it was the nearest to us but I'm sure they'll get things fixed before the season gets really underway.
There is a small shop for your basic needs - bread milk eggs etc.
Apart from the horrendous weather we had a nice weekend and would stay at Headland again.

I loved this campsite, plain and simple. Maybe a little basic, but electric hookups were readily available, toilet block was fine (showers 20p), nice separate hut for pot washing and washing machine etc. 5 mins walk from Tintagel, and 20 miles from the castle ruins (you walk into Tintagel then follow a (steep) track from there. Next door seemed to be a farm, and fresh potatoes were available to buy at their gate, which is right next to the campsite one. Because it was so close to Tintagel, we could easily walk to the pub of an evening and not have to drive. The King Arthur is dog friendly too, always a bonus.
As with most campsites, dogs have to be on leads, but that's fine as there's plenty of walking nearby plus the field is big enough to give them a last minute evening walk just round the site.
The coastal path from Tintagel to Boscatle is literally a 5 min walk away - just exit from the back end of the site, go through a cow field and you're pretty much on it. About 3 miles between the two towns each way, but it is a moderate to hard path at times?
Much as I loved it, there were a few things I'd say to take into account:
The field where we stayed is steep, so we have full levelling blocks out and even then it wasn't quite perfect - but near enou.
No pitch allocation as such, so one morning we woke up to find a one man tent right next to us sheltering between us and the car (it was very windy that night). Fine with us but I did think possibly campers should be kept away from caravans where possible.
Toilets aren't heated, so probably a bt nippy in the winter
Campsite takes kids, but there's only one small play area in the centre of the field, so not what I'd call massively child friendly.
Tintagel is extremely tight for caravans and tourists just wander about aimlessly in the road, so you definitely need your wits about you when towing through it (or indeed, if someone just decides to walk out without looking in front of you like some lady with a pushchair did to us. O_O!)
Overall, I'll be returning - although that may change if we have kids with us in the future as its definitely more for coastal path walkers and adults. The location is just fabulous, and definitely visit the King Arthur pub - oh, and any ale drinkers, try the Tintagel beers too! And anyone who visits Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm - pm me as I'll pay you to bring me back a crate of the berry Rattler lol :)!
