Booked this site for three days after Queen Jubilee weekend. Was worried after reading some of the previous comments about the pylons but decided to give it a try as only three night break.

What a fabulous site this is !

We were greeted at reception and informed of our tent pitch. We have a dome tent as there are five of us my husband and our son 12, and our daughters aged 10 and 7 but when booking was told this wasn't a problem. We drove round to the tent area which only has about 10 spaces for tents but was a nice little spot. We set up before the rain started. The tent fitted on the pitch no problems.

The water tap is situated by pitch 4 but we found another one near to the swings also. The kids went to explore the fabulous play area which was not to far away at all and was not too busy.

We went for some lovely walks and experienced the home made food in the little pub on the site which opens at 5. The food was delicious and very reasonable. We only ate there for one night as we had brought food with us although we did pop for a drink the other two nights and a couple of games of pool with the kids. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The view from the pub conservatory is beautiful looking over the stream and lovely surroundings.

We had a great day down at the stream with the kids which is shallow enough for them to paddle in with their wellies. They loved it !

There are pylons on the site but I have to say they did not affect us or keep us awake as some of the other reviews have stated. I would say you can hear the noise of the trains and the motorway but this didn't affect us. We slept very well. The site was very well kept and very clean.

The toilet block was immaculate as was the showers and the cleaners were in there every morning. The showers had plenty of hot water and little seats and hanging pegs for your towels and clothes. There was a washing up facility but we didn't really use this as I washed up at the tent but this was spotlessly clean.

My only criticism was the toilet block was a little way away from the tent area, which was fine during the day but at night if you have younger ones and they need the loo it is a little bit far way, but we took a bucket so this helped us.

We went to Garstang on the Thursday morning as there is a little market held every Thursday morning. There are a few selection of shops and pubs. We didn't really venture any further with it being a short break but will do when we return in August.

On the whole a gem of a site which we loved and shall be returning too.

Just spent a weekend at this site. Very pleased and will go back again (probably next weekend!)

Plus points;

In a superb picturesque location

Immaculate facilities - piped music in the loos.

Pub serving food at weekends

Shop selling basics

Very friendly and helpful staff - one even showed me interesting walks / places to visit on my OS map

Great local walks - one to Scorton a super little village with a good pub, Spar selling nice local stuff. Also walked to canal.

Very close to the Trough of Bowland

I could not find a lot wrong with this site!

But, the facilities (loos etc) were quite a way from the tent area -didn't use them myself as I always take my own loo!

Also tent area directly underneath pylon cables. I heard them humming a bit at night but it didn't really bother me too much!

An interesting playground.

Dog walk down by river.

To summarise a good site. We will be back.

Just returned from our first caravan trip and have to say this site is fantastic! It wasn't very busy which was a bonus. Family came up for the day for a nosey which wasn't a problem. I know some sites don't allow visitors. The toilet block and showers are very clean and very warm, they even have smooth radio playing in the block. We took 3 kids age 13, 9 and 1 and they had a brilliant time, older kids loved the park and paddling in the river. My little one loved to watch the ducks roaming about. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I also liked the barrier system that they have at the entrance which makes you feel secure about going out for the day. The little shop was ok and my other half said the bar was ok too. It is a little bit pricey but we are glad we went here for our first trip cause the location is great. We would definitely return.

If you're tenting / trailer tenting with kids try to get the lower field near the playpark, this is an ideal setup as they can play their hearts away within easy reach. Walking along the river is nice and convenient from this spot too. There's even an open, Dutch style 'pessoir' toilet for overnight use in this area that would save a 3 to 5 minute trek to the showerblock. (Great opportunity for a wind-up; I told my eldest lad that was the only facility and he believed me ;0)

The showerblock is clean and well kitted, very nice hot push button showers - no problem.

The bins are indeed hidden round the back of it, rather then near the pitches. You may find it easier to shift the rubbish as you to and fro rather than do what I did, which was to let it accumulate in my ignorance and then after discovering, wedge it on top of the car to drop off on my way to Sainsburys for provisions. I got stung by a wasp for my trouble, the little blighters were everywhere thanks to the blazing hot weather. I made a trap for them from a coke can, several yards from the pitch, that kept them busy and mostly confined to one space.

The Butty van on the A6 laybay heading south from the site did a great cheap breakfast for everyone, with hot tea and seating to boot. The guy that runs it is very knowledgeable of the local area and had some great money saving tips for us. Onsite pub was great, not expensive and open til midnight. A definite redeeming feature. Yes there are overhead electric lines and even a pylon on site - try to avoid the pitch below it - even if it is nearer the toilet block. Trains going by was quite quaint. Noise on site was negligible. Would go back with the kids but not if just me and the Mrs. Pricey too at £20 per night for 2 adults, 2 children and 1 car.

Super site nice and clean areas, hook ups and water next to pitch. Plenty of space in between caravans, even when parked next to caravan. Three little fishing ponds to fish, nice walk down by the river. Little shop on the site, club house on the site serves a good pint and a good meal. Bit of play area for kids, could be more. Staff very friendly . Very quiet and peaceful site, the only noise we found was the trains coming past the site. The area is good for getting to Blackpool and Morecambe. Nice area for walking

1st time campers for family of 4.

Sites showers and toilets 5 stars very clean and modern, all staff very friendly.

Nice camping area was on a slope but ok.

Pub on site excellent and very friendly.

Shop bit small.

Good play area for the kids, right near the camp site.

If you like fishing couple of places to fish

If you have dogs lots of walking paths.

There are places to eat nearby and Lancaster only a short drive away

Very good site would visit again, enjoyed our 1st of many camping experiences.

We went to this campsite after seeing it in the aa campsite book and I'm afraid we wouldn't go back the showers etc are most of the time clean but being so far from the camping area caused lots of problems.

My partner has bad knees and the walk is pretty far, we took our dogs and there is a dog walking area but not one bin on the whole site

I myself walked to the bins but they were in the only rubbish area and that's right at the front of the site by the toilets showers etc.

We did go to the pub for a couple of meals and the food was good and plentiful but the noise of the m6 the a6 and the railway lines is too noisy and I had a continuous headache from the pylons that run the whole length of the site and you cant get away from the buzzing

Sorry but wont be returning

Very much enjoyed our stay here, all the facilities were fantastic very clean and nice hot showers etc.

The guy who runs the campsite is very friendly and made sure we included our children and had lots of fun on the Easter funday.

We are very much hoping to return again for the Royal wedding holidays!

Only very slight complaint is the noise of the pylons at night and the train noise! Never the less had a great time and will return.

We visited this site for a weekend break. We were blessed with fantastic weather (so much so that we had to make a trip to Garstang to buy sun-cream!) Staff were friendly and helpful. We'd definitely go again.

Beautiful site. Lots of ponds for fishing (we didn't try this) and a lovely little stream which our son and his friend (both 9) loved playing in. The play-park was smaller than it looks on the site's website but had unusual things in which kept the boy's interested for longer.

The showers and toilets were immaculately clean at all times and plenty of free hot water. On the down-side they were a few minutes walk from the tent area which was fine in the day but if you have little ones that need the loo in the night it would be a pain. There was only one bin are too which again was a walk from the camping area. We never saw the washing up area although the website said they had one (we usually just do ours at the tent anyway).

We wouldn't normally go to sites with a bar for fear of others being loud after they have had a drink but it was lovely to sit with a beer whilst the boys played in the stream and the food in the restaurant was decent quality pub food. The bar was at the opposite side of the site to the tent area so no noise could be heard late at night(if there was any).

Noise from M6 and railway could be heard but only like white noise in the background. It certainly didn't disturb our sleep. Other people have commented on the smell from the septic tank near the tent area but we couldn't smell a thing even though the temperature topped 21 degrees. The electricity pylon running across the site wasn't noisy but did create quite a lot of static to the extent we kept getting small shocks of our equipment and even the ground. It didn't bother us too much but may put others off, especially if they have younger children.

Spent 4 nights at this site me, other half & 2 teens.

Site itself is lovely with statics, lodges and touring for caravans, motorhomes and tents.

We were pitched on No 4 (not our choice). It had rained earlier in the week, so the ground was a little soft in places but we were sheltered by hedges and trees. However, between pitches no 4 and 5 there are 3 man holes and a tipler system for the septic tank.

We had nicer weather than we had anticipated, so unfortunately for us the smell from this was at times unbearable. We did mention this to the management, who advised that they were experiencing problems with it and are dealing with it.

Yes, The M6 is a little noisy at night and the pylons can be heard if it rains, yes, there is a short walk to the loos & showers, however, are immaculate with piped music while you wash!.

There is a water and elsan point to hand. The ponds for fishing are great. Overall the site itself is pristine and the management are very friendly.

There is a sainsbury's supermarket approx a mile & half away towards the town centre of Garstang and a fishing tackle shop 'Something fishy' in Forton.

We will return to this site.

Note: There is a refundable £10 gate access fee
