Just returned from a weeks stay at this site, and would definitely go back again as it really is a lovely quiet and peaceful site.

On arrival I was warmly greeted by the owner, and it was one of the nicest greetings I have ever had.

The site is well laid out with stone hardstandings. We had an 11m pitch which gave us plenty of room for our twin axle and car. The only downside is that the site road is not very wide and could make it difficult to get on and off a pitch without a motor mover.

The shower block and toilets were very clean, and the Elsan disposal point is easy to use, with a wash hand basin and soap provided which is very thoughtful and extremely useful. You have to use Organic Elsan as they are very environmentally friendly, but organic elsan works better than normal stuff, so no problem.

They do fish and chips on a Thursday night, which many people took advantage of, but we didn't partake sadly, so cant comment, but they smelt lovely.

There is no shop as such on site, but they do sell eggs, milk and papers and there is a good spar shop walking distance at the garage.

Location of site gives you easy journeys to good beaches and towns such as Plymouth, Dartmouth and Salcombe

Value for money was excellent as we had Senior Discount and discount for paying in full on booking, so it was much cheaper than booking a Caravan Club Site.

On the website, they give you a choice of two routes to take, variation 1 or 2. We took variation 2 as it was about 5pm on a week day and they advise not to do route 1 at busy periods, but to be honest I think Route 1 is the better route whatever the time of day, it has a much wider road, albeit a few narrow places, but otherwise its fine. If you do go route 2, its very very easy to miss the tiny white sign buried in the long grass at the top of the hill where you have to turn left, and if you do, then you have to do a tight reverse into a side road to turn around! The little white sign, needs to be a big white sign above the height of the grass. Route 1 is quicker and easier.

This is a lovely site in beautiful surroundings. The approach roads are a little narrow in places but have plenty of passing alcoves.

This is an adult only site which makes it a peaceful place on the whole.

The staff are welcoming and helpful, nothing too much trouble, the chap on duty when we arrived was only too happy to pitch our van for us( we are two women and this was before we fitted a motor mover. ) The appointments are clean and well maintained. There is a good on site dog walk. There are free range poultry on site so dogs must be well tethered.

There is a lovely pub about a quarter of a mile away serving good food and local ale.

Plenty of places to visit and great walks abound.

Just back from 10 glorious nights on this fabulous site.

Arrived on Sunday afternoon and were made very welcome in a relaxed way - there's the field, find a pitch, any questions just let us know. A check up shortly after to ensure we knew where everything was - great.

The camping field has been recently levelled and re-seeded with grass. It is very flat and well sheltered by trees with one water tap by the gate and gorgeous views out over the moors - amazing sunsets! There is no EHU in the camping field, but that was made clear and was really not a problem.

The camping field does run along the road, but honestly there was very little road noise at all, and no issue with noise at night.

The shower / toilet / wash-up and laundry facilities were all in excellent condition and there was no issue with queuing whilst we were there. The only 'extra' is a hairdryer a 20p a go - all hot water is free.

Dog walking facilities are the best we've found with a dedicated, safe field where dogs can have a good old run around, and all the other dog owners we met were very friendly with sociable dogs.

We tried the Thursday night fish & chips - lovely! - and also went for a couple of meals at the California Inn just along the road - very nice food at reasonable prices.

We made the most of the numerous National Trust properties close by, as well as a trip to Burgh Island and a drive out over Dartmoor.

For amazing sunsets, pitch your tent facing out towards the (quiet) road, over to the moors - breath taking.

This is a lovely, well maintained site, well run in a friendly and relaxed way - I would not hesitate to recommend it and hope to be back.

Wonderful site - picturesque location with views across to the Tors of Dartmoor!

Approach from A38 can be tricky at busy times as Devon roads are very narrow! As the locals say a Devon mile is worth 10 normal miles!

Facilities are good electric hook-up, drainage and water to most pitches!

The welcome on arrival is excellent and the owner even drives the unit to the pitch and pitches the van for you - never come across that before but excellent service!

Be aware of the love of birds on this site in case you have an allergy as there are free range/roaming chickens which circuit the whole site at least once a day! as well as caged canaries near the entrance and pheasants and owls in the woods surrounding.

Club WiFi is not worth the money it has very poor and changeable reception and is inadequate in that it is very restricted and limited on searchable and viewable sites with a parental lock - which is a farce on a supposed subscribed service on an adults only caravan site! - best take your own dongle! ;-)

TV reception at the top of the site is poor to terrible in bad weather and satellite reception is very difficult be warned when choosing a pitch! This is where they could do with supplying TV connection points for the pitches!

Toilet /showers and other facilities are clean and in fully working order, but it did puzzle us as to why with the absence of a spare disabled toilet to send people to during daily cleaning they choose to close both male and female toilets/showers at the same time?! and then proceed to send visiting people during this period into either one or the other side irrespective of sex and then clean around them!?!

Leaving random sexes randomly scattered in either toilet block??! baffling!

Even more puzzling was the opening/closing time on the chemical toilet room?? never ever in my life come across that before!??

Despite these very minor and easily remedied peculiarities we had a very enjoyable stay despite mixed mid summer weather that threw everything bar snow our way!

N. B. Avoid the California Cross Country Inn absolute crooks food is mediocre! esp. With the old barman who never gives change! Highly recommend The Ship Inn in Ugborough absolutely phenomenal food and service!

This is a lovely site living up to its reputation as a Tranquil Touring Park. We had a 10 metre value pitch, which was plenty big enough for our van, awning and car. Nice views of Dartmoor and no road noise. The facilities are very good, the showers are of the push button variety but with temperature control. The owners were very welcoming and helpful through out our stay. You must try their fish and chips on a Thursday night, freshly cooked to order and quite large portions. Also recommended is the California Country Inn for breakfast and their evening bar meals. A wonderful site and we have already decided to go back next year. Can't wait.

This is a really lovely site. Superb facilities to go with the idyllic location. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. The toilet and shower block were spotless. Thursday's Fish & Chip Night was excellent, some of the best Scampi I have had. Dog walking area is well maintained. The site also has Eco friendly systems in place to help the environment. Brilliant 8 nights. Really can't fault anything.

Despite horrendous weather we enjoyed our stay at this site everything on site adequate but we will not be returning because of the nightmare approach to the site. I can only assume that the visitors who have said it is ok were lucky enough not to meet the likes of the 2 artic lorries that we did whilst having 2 other caravans behind us. My husband had to get out and ask 5 cars and a transit van to go down a dirt track so that the lorries could reverse and allow us to squeeze past. My husband is a very competent driver. Not quite so bad leaving as it was a Sunday morning but still a few hairy moments and other drivers shaking their heads as if wondering why we were going that way. Such a shame, if you are lucky enough to have a clear run in and out you will be happy with what you find but as a previous reviewer said we were so happy to get back on the A38.

Pros; Quiet, clean, sheltered, friendly, child-free, excellent value.

Cons: The butter melted due to the extreme weather heat!

The main tent field was closed due to redevelopment work, but the owners, Liz and Edward, (very helpful) let us pitch on a grass pitch in the caravan field - and it was excellent. No problems at all.

We left 5 days early due to an emergency at home, but Edward was very understanding, and several other guests helped us pack up in the dark, for which we were very grateful.

Will definitely visit again, and look forward to the main tent field being open - it looks a good situation. The wider location of the site is very good. Within 30 mins you can get to most coastal areas or the better parts of Dartmoor for walking.

Pity the butter melted.

We visited this site the first 2 weeks in July and had truly horrendous weather, the worse we have ever known, but we did have a truly great holiday.

The site is wonderful, really good facilities and set in a lovely location, when you could see it that is for the mist and fog! The showers were lovely and warm and the water always hot, its great that you can choose your own temperature of water and not have it fixed at luke warm. Laundry really well kept and clean.

Fish and chips on a Thursday night cooked by Liz are an absolute must. The owners were so friendly and actually apologised for the weather. Great pub at Calafornia Cross, slightly pricey but really good food. We were on a fully serviced pitch, you had everything you needed and plenty of room around you.

It could be a bit tight when coupling up and pulling caravan off pitch when you left, but you just had to be careful really.

Would definitely visit again as it would be a great area to visit when the weather is good!

A wonderful site with fully serviced pitches to suit all sizes of units. Owners are very friendly and helpful. The site is quiet tranquil and child free. The toilets and showers were spotless they even left the heating on in them as the weather was none to good (how thoughtful)

The hard standings came into there own as we had lots of rain (no mud or grass to tread into van)

Thursday is fish and chip night cooked and served by Liz they were yummy.

The chemical emptying room has to be seen (you could eat your diner in it). We are returning in Sept. This site is well worth staying at.
