Picked this site as our first trip with a caravan. Couldn't have asked for a better start to caravanning! The site is immaculate, and the staff could not have been better. Shown to our pitch, which was level and flat, and helped get the van into position. The facilities are excellent, and kept spotlessly clean, no matter what time you go. The site is not far from Carsington Water, where there is boating, cycling, fishing or just walking, and all the beautiful sights of the Peak District are within easy driving distance. Couple of local pubs, and Ashbourne has a Co-op and Sainsburys, and is only a 5min drive away. We stayed Saturday till Monday, and enjoyed it so much, we booked straight away to go back the following weekend. Then we found, we could leave our van, for a small charge, on site. It didn't make sense taking it 85ml home, so left it there. Went back the following weekend. And did the same for the following two weeks, we loved it so much. Only had to come away, as my wife had to work the following three weekends. We have been on lots of other sites over the last few years, with our tent, and this is the nicest site we have been to. Love the place, and will be returning.

We stayed for 2 nights at this site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful, with good local knowledge. Pitch had a slight slope but was not a problem but was to far out to receive wifi connection. Very clean site, the toilet and washing facilities were a bit of a trek but there is a basic loo in the woods, also kept very clean. Would use again.

This site is a hidden gem in the Peak District. There is a very small shop which sold some local produce.
The staff where very welcoming and helpful and came to help us pitch up the caravan which was really welcomed as it is was only the third time out in our caravan. The caravan and tent areas are separate. The site has a lovely rural feel to it which was a nice thing.
The shower and facilities are nice and clean and use solar power also there was no charge for using them. The only downside was having to repeatedly pressing the shower button after about 15-20 seconds.
There is a a separate area for children which has swings and a fort to play in.
There is also a small dog walking area which leads into paddocks and a meadow.
TV reception is a little on and off but radio reception is perfect.
Phone reception is non existent
On Saturday we enjoyed a wood fired pizza cooked by the staff for a small charge and it was tasty.
The only thing to watch is the road outside is a fast one so take care when leaving the site

Very clean, well laid out site with a generous amount of space between each pitch. A play area for children which also is well kept. The team who look after the site are very welcoming and have a good knowledge of there surroundings. The site is close to carsington water which has an abundance of things to do including water sports walking and cycling.

We stayed here for just one night to try out the new van and get used to it quite locally (just in case!)
When we arrived we were greeted by the very cheery and welcoming warden. We have quite a large Van so he gave us a couple of pitches to choose from to see which we would be more confident with manoeuvring into.
What a fantastic site! Small but so tranquil. It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere but when we realised we had forgotten something it was nice knowing we were only 2 minutes from the centre of Ashbourne.
The toilet block was impeccable. The toilets and the showers were both spotless and the wardens were regularly seen just popping in to check them.
A highly recommended site, we will definitely be returning to this one!
(We hope our very first review helps you!)

On arrival we were met by a very friendly and helpful warden who booked us in quickly and then took us to make a choice of pitches.
In sections 1 and 2 all pitches were hard-standing and a very good size. There was a good motorhome point where we could drop grey water and fill up, there are also further water taps around the site.
The toilets and showers were immaculate, we saw wardens going in and out several times a day to check. They do suffer from low pressure but there are notes explaining and asking you to tell them or ring if a problem - can't say fairer than that.
The site was really well kept and tidy, tubs of bulbs and well cut grass gave it an overall impression of being well looked after.
The wardens gave us a sheet of walks in the area. We followed the Nene Valley circular walk which was 8. 25 miles. Have to say the directions were really brilliant, they have obviously made a real effort to give really detailed instructions so you get to see parts of the countryside you would never normally see.
For us this site was pretty perfect. If you want pubs and shops on the door step maybe its not right for you. But if you want peace and quiet, lovely wardens and a well kept site would recommend this one, we will use again.

We stayed on a grass with electric pitch in field 3. The field is slightly sloped but still usable. The toilet and wash up block is a bit of a walk but there is a good loo hut near to field three. The wi-fi was slow and weak although at a £1 a day very cheap and good reception round the toilet block and reception. Some good walks from the site but nearest pub 60 mins walk. Ashbourne 10 mins by car. Enjoyed the stay but will go elsewhere next time. Not much in the way of views and lack of flower beds to make the site 'pretty'. It was a clean site and has a good play field and playground.

Just back from 4 nights at this lovely little site.
We were welcomed by a friendly chap, who was really helpful and informative. He directed us to the pitch and assisted with positioning the caravan.
This is the first time we've been away in our new caravan and we had booked a hardstanding and we were so glad of it! The grassy areas of the site were quite boggy and muddy with the recent rain, the hardstandings, however were well drained and dry.
The toilets and shower block were clean and functional, showers were of the push button type and needed pushing every 15 or so seconds, which was annoying! The water was always nice and warm and the pressure wasn't bad.
The children's play area would have been great had the weather been better, but unfortunately that area was also very muddy and wet.
There is plenty to do in the local area, Matlock Bath & the Heights of Abraham are worth a visit.
All in all we had a lovely few days, despite the weather and would return to this site again.

We have visited this site twice this year and enjoyed our stay in this lovely area, did not see much of the wardens after booking in, when they said pitch any where and let us know where you are.
Toilets are very good, showers clean and warm, care needed entering or leaving site due to traffic exceeding 50 speed limit.
Plenty of walks from the site and Carsington water is ideal for safe walking, cycling or hiring a canoe, it has a great children's area and toilets, cafe etc.
Ashbourne has lots of antique and charity shops also Crich Tramway village is worth a visit, if you fancy driving a tram book in advance and have a great day.

This could be a really nice site if managed properly.
The site is an ideal base for visiting the Peak District with a bus stop 100 yards from the entrance and only a short drive from Ashbourne which has a Co-op and Sainsbury supermarkets.
The only 2 wardens we saw were rude and sarcastic and unhelpful.
The toilets looked clean but on closer inspection they needed a more thorough cleaning.
We will not be visiting again.
