Spent 3 nights here on a busy summer weekend. Wardens were pleasant but not always around as manager lives in a house and assistant's van was well away from tourers. Shown to pitch and facilities pointed out. Very clean well kept site and toilet block. Lovely nature area with ponds etc. Nice play area and field for kids also separate dog walk. We were on hardstanding in first field. Slight slope needed levellers. Small shop in reception and a separate info hut. Units are quite close together which could be a problem if neighbours were noisy, however all was quiet by 11:00 each night so not an issue. Site is well placed for walkers and we did Carsington Water circular. Also handy for Ashbourne, Mtlock, Buxton and many others in the area. Would probably return to this site.

We chose this site as a base for visiting Alton Towers as a large group ( two tents and one caravan). The two wardens were always on hand and kept the site in tip top condition. Clearly pegged out pitches. Site consists of Five fields. Caravans and Motorhomes predominantly in the first two fields with hard standing areas, the third field mainly for tents, field Four contain, s a playground and a toilet in a shed (Much better than it sounds) and finally field Five for dog walking.
Shower block situated in field one was allways clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. Also in First field was reception information hut, laundry and refuse bins with 100% recycling.
Situated midway between Belper and Ashbourne. The site is around 25 minuits from Alton Towers. Carsington Water only 10 minuits drive is a great day out with water sports and cycle hire, restaurant and informal cafe -highly recommended. Nine mile circular walk / ride around lake. Also visited Matlock Bath, Bakewell and Dovedale. Loads of places to visit in this area so will try to return.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of July (just a day after our Hereford CC&C site holiday).
When we arrived they were trying out pizzas – but bring your own plate. I noticed they sold various tent pegs – what a good idea!
The manager took us through 2 fields to get to the tent pitches and explained that we had to pitch between the posts including the car. I must admit having just come from Hereford CC&C site, the pitch did seem very compact. We have a 5 man tent with side extension, there was no way we could have put the side extension up as well comfortably, but as we weren’t using the extension we were okay – close to the car but okay.
He showed us where the toilet/shower/washing facilities were and the “night loo” for “tent people”. This saved a, what would be “long walk” in the middle of the night.
There is a children’s play area and ball area – and also a dog walk.
The facilities were good, nice hot water, push type – but we don’t mind that, a curtain separated the shower from clothes – again adequate – and everyone cleaned up after themselves. The toilets were very clean and the washing up facilities were just round the corner along with the washing line and laundry. Didn’t go into the laundry, so I don’t know if there was any tourist information in there, as was in Hereford.
I loved the idea of a night loo – and when we used it for the first time – I cleaned my teeth as OH had his “last chance” and I read the information on the picture “What’s this then?” “Twin-ned, what’s that” OH read it and said “It’s a twinned toilet you daft bat!” not having my glasses didn’t help! So we called it Twin-Ned from then on – but a great idea – literally a shed with toilet and wash basin and twinned with a toilet in Africa and again very clean!
The site is very eco-friendly – all waste is separated – mens toilets have recycled water (apparently cleaned water, but still dark in appearance) – seen this in NT houses. Parts of the adjoining fields have been left to nature to encourage wild life – all this is explained in a brochure given on arrival.
Ashbourne itself isn't that far away 10 mins by car and has a Sainsbury's and co-op (both middle sized) plus lots of other shops. Surrounding towns are Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell all not too far away. I would stay at the site again and recommend it - if you have a big tent, best to tell them.

This camp site is fabulous its not that far driving distance from Ashbourne, its facilities are 1st class and spotless the pitches are great with lots of space between each one its a beautiful place and great dog walks too. But I don't think I would return due to a warden, we were there with friends but were told not asked which way to pitch tents an even very very rude if asked questions. He really spoilt what is a lovely camp site.

Lovely, well laid out site in beautiful surroundings. Pitches are a decent size but some hardstandings are not really level, so you will probably need levellers under the wheel(s), chocks etc.
Getting older may well have some perks and it certainly does here. Age concession prices are available for most of the year and this constitutes quite a saving for us over 55s.
Shower blocks were spotless, plenty of hot water and good sized cubicles. Only 3 showers in each so some queues at busy times. Under cover dishwashing area with big, deep sinks.
Couldn't get a mobile wi fi signal but did manage to connect to the site wi fi; phone signal hit and miss (O2) - didn't take the TV but other people seemed to be able to tune in okay.
About 2-3 miles to Ashbourne itself, which is a pretty, quaint little town. Co-Op and Waitrose adjacent to car park and lots of other shops/tea rooms/pubs/cafes in and around the high street and marketplace.
This was our second visit and I'm it sure won't be our last. 9/10

We stayed at this site for our anniversary break in the Dales. Location is fantastic for getting about in the dales, particularly for Carsington water. Pitches were ok though on chippings. We were positioned by the toilet block and there was constant crunching of folk walking past on their way to the facilities which the block offered day and night which was annoying. Also felt very exposed as no landscaping or privacy. But maybe just us.
The toilets were fine and very clean. This was our first 'club site' as new to 'vanning.
Would go back again for location but for ambiance may look elsewhere.

We arrived on the Friday and were made welcome from the start. The Franchisee helped us by taking us to our pitch and guiding us on even though I insisted I can reverse the unit without help.
When I told them I was new to the C&CC, they were not patronising, they explained the site rules and left us to get on with it.
The site was very clean and tidy, neatly trimmed grass and stone chipped hard standings. As the weather has been so wet the franchisee asked us to avoid driving over the muddy corners of the pitch.
The toilet block was first class and very eco friendly. It was plain to see it was kept to a very high standard of cleanliness.
I promised my son a weekend away to visit Gulliver's Kingdom, the Heights of Abraham and to stay on a first class site. We were not disappointed.

Just returned from a great couple of days on the edge of the Staffs/Derbyshire Peak District.
We secured a couple of nights at Ashbourne C&CC site by phone on day of arrival. We were warned about the muddiness of the pitches up front. When we arrived we were offered a couple of pitches in the field furthest from the main facilities which were 'grass only - non electric pitches'. Pitches were slightly muddy but that was understandable after a busy holiday season and a previous B/H. The pitch itself was ok and we were instructed to pitch over the previous pitch which probably prevented further damage to the site, but made our tent groundsheet v muddy on packing away.
On arrival, we were shown to a pitch by a man on a bike as is often the case on club sites.
Site is mostly flat - one facilities block with v clean and new facilities. Recycling facilities encourage 100% recycling and toilets flush with slightly brown sterilised water which is a nice environmentally friendly touch.
There is also a 'night toilet', which is situated close to the non mostly electric field in what I can describe to be a cosy shed. V good idea ! Much better than a smelly plastic portaloo - and twinned with a toilet in Africa - love it.
The site went quiet about 10pm on the first night and then again similar time the second night. I was woken by loud 'old school rave music', I left my tent to see what the source was but it was coming from a location outside the site. This stopped by 1. 30 am and lasted about 1 hr. V strange as it is in the middle of nowhere (?).
No mobile signal whatsoever at the site - text messages often arrived a day late. There was wi-fi but a site survey confirmed that you really needed to be in the field next to reception to get anything that would be usable.
Ashbourne and thi site is a great location for exploring the southern Peak District. I would recommend Dovedale which my son described as 'awesome', and we climbed Thorpe Cloud which took a couple a couple of hours to ascend and decent with small rests. For the less able/fit there are stepping stones across the river Dove and flat walks.
Site is close / convenient for Carsington, with watersports and walking/bird watching. Interesting displays in the visitor centre which my son loved - all about water conservation and how sewerage is cleaned.
Great site - shame about the wi-fi/mobile signal and the midnight ravers.

We was heading back home to Manchester from Cannock Chase where we had a lovely couple of days. We rang on the off chance for a pitch for 3 nights and was advised it wasn't a problem.
We turned up an hour later and was greeted by very friendly wardens. We was on the first pitch (no 2) right near the entrance. The motor mover struggled as it is gravel and up a incline to the pitch, we was helped by a warden who was very friendly and advised us where everything was.
Lovely toilets and a parent and child room in the ladies and the gents.
Big field with football nets and swing/slide etc.
Dog walks but we haven't got a dog so did not go on it.
On our pitch we could hear the traffic on the main road but didn't spoil it at all, if you was on another pitch in the next field lower down you wouldn't hear anything.
All in all a very good site, clean and very friendly. We even got our car washed on site by Holly who my children thought was great, it only cost 5 pound.
A must for anybody with children or dogs is Carsington water, a truly lovely place and a great day out.
We will definitely come back to this site, only downside I can think off is the pitches are not wide enough for car/awning/caravan. Not a major issue as you are allowed to park on the grass.

Just returned from 2 weeks at this site; superb!
Paul and Helen (the Site Assistants) made us welcome from the moment we booked in to the minute we left this morning.
The site is sensibly split up, so that families with younger children are pitched close to the playing area (a huge field with various bits of play equipment), whilst older visitors tend to be allocated pitches near others of a similar generation.
The toilet/shower block is really 'green' - solar panels providing the electricity, and recycled water used for flushing the loos (I know it sounds a bit yucky, but honestly, it isn't!)
There are plenty of hard-standing pitches as well as grass ones, and loads of electric hook ups.
The whole site is kept extremely clean and is a credit to the staff. Locally, the market town of Ashbourne provides supermarkets, restaurants and shops (although, in common with virtually all other market towns, there are lots of empty properties in the high street).
Easily accessible locally are such diverse attractions as Chatsworth House, Alton Towers, The Heights of Abraham (very interesting cable car journey!, Bakewell Don't miss the tarts!) and lots of super scenery in the Peak District.
Definitely worth a visit
