Lovely site, very friendly and helpful wardens. The site is very eco friendly and has the best recycling facilities of any camp I have stayed on. Water heated by solar panels and recycled water used to flush the loos.
Great facilities, lovely and clean and lots of hot water for showers and washing up.
Nice dog walk on site too.
We spent a day at Carsington Water which is not too far from the site. Fantastic place with lots of seating and picnic areas, nice walks, cycle trails and cafe for a well earned cup of tea.
We also went to Chatsworth House for the day and this was well worth the visit. We had the dog with us so did not go into the house itself but the gardens were more than enough as they are vast.
Will be visiting again as there is so much to do in the area and this is the perfect site to put your feet up and relax after a day out.

Booked on the phone a few days before arriving and spoke to a lovely man who was so helpful. Arrived on Thursday night with 2 kids and 2 dogs, booked an electric pitch for 3 nights. We were greeted by a very friendly lady (Denise I think) who showed us to our pitch. The site is beautiful, very well kept and the facilities are spotless.
Our pitch was in the large field, very spacious and flat, although the ground was incredibly hard and our pegs were rubbish! The site was extremely quiet and peaceful (certainly one to avoid if you're looking for a lively site). We had such a lovely time and were so impressed by the high standards of cleanliness. Our children are 11 and 8 and they loved the freedom of the play area which has loads of space to play football.
My only criticism would be that the shop is fairly limited in choice, quite expensive and is only open for short periods. There is a local pub but it is about a mile away and the road is quite fast with no pavement, we felt it was quite dangerous even in the daylight! Dovedale is only 5-10 minutes away - very picturesque - the kids had great fun paddling in the river.
Ashbourne is also lovely, lots of nice shops and cafes. We loved this site and plan to return very soon.

Lovely quite site. Nice small play area, swing / slide, goal post and buttercup field cut in shape of track for bikes. Little walk around enclosed pond area.
Rain water loo's, showers and family bathroom lovely and very clean plenty of hot water.
Lovely owners
Gripe: was the tent field was the furthest away from tenting field although 'night loo' was close by it smelt really bad for whole weekend so could not use.
Also tent field only field out of three that was not level and lots of underlying rocks. Pitch 64(ours, lol) had a large hole/dip in the middle not obvious on arrival so we spent the weekend sliding off mats.
But we had a lovely weekend and would go again (would avoid pitch 64 though)

A beautiful site, with lovely new facilities. Friendly and helpful wardens. Hard-standings are quite large gravel, so rock pegs are needed. Excellent play field for kids and dog walking fields too.
Plenty to do and see in the area, but parking costs can mount up quickly if you go to a couple of places in a day. We went as oldies so the site was not expensive.

Stayed here last year when the grass pitches were not ready. I am now pleased to say that the grass has now grown. The kids play area is really good as it is in a separate field which is fenced off from the main site, so no worries about your little ones running in front of cars and the climbing play equipment is really good quality.
As with all Camping and Caravan Club sites the facilities are immaculate. Would definitely return.

My husband and I stayed at Ashbourne for a long weekend in May of this year. The site is on a busy road but there was no concern about any noise from the road. The wardens very extremely helpful with everything. The showers and toilets are immaculate and warm.
The dog walk was nice and accessed directly from the site. Great location for visiting all the local attractions Bakewell, Matlock Bath etc. Would recommend this site. We don't have children so can't comment on the suitability for children.

What a lovely site. Well kept. The shop well supplied with goods. The wardens are very helpful and friendly. Dog friendly.
The toilet block very clean. The only problem I did have that the wash basin where not partitioned off. I will go again as its a friendly site.
There are many places to visit, you have Ashbourne market on Thursdays. On Mondays Bakewell as a market and once a month they have a farmers market.
We left the car on the campsite and caught the bus into Ashbourne. The bus stop is just outside the site gates.

A lovely site!
The wardens were very accommodating - we arrived at 8pm on a very rainy and blustery night. However, we were told which pitch we were on and to contact them via their mobile if we needed any help.
The shower blocks are of a very high standard and the showers were lovely and warm - just what you need in November!
The pitches were adequately sized and not at all muddy - despite the heavy rain!
The off site dog walk was a god send, as our Westie Angus McTavish, loves a good romp around off the lead.
Easy access to Ashbourne, Belper and Wirksworth.
A lovely weekend was had - see you in the summer.

Not so good bits:
Very very tight for big units. We had a lot of trouble getting onto a pitch with our twin axle.
Witnessed another caravanner striking a wooden barrel plant pot that are scattered around the site.
Needs levelling blocks on the small pitches
We booked with other couples but we not put together on site with us being spread out
No separate disabled facilities. These are contained within each toilet block and are push button showers. Not really good for people with mobility issues.
Good Bits
Close enough to Ashbourne about 5 mins drive with super chip shop in the town centre and its a nice walk around the place.
The facilities are newish and appeared quite clean and well maintained
Pitches are small but tidy
Very good information shed
Overall
Not one we would go back to due to having a big twin axle unit and the access in and out with the pitch sizes but would suit others and would be fine

Just got back from 4 days at this site. Great area of the country to visit, lovely weather, lots to see.
As a new site, the toilet block, showers etc were as you'd expect very good and clean. Especially liked the lilac flooring in the Ladies!
The site has 3 camping fields - 2 for hard standing pitches and the furthest field for tents.
The tent field was extremely lumpy, with grass that hadn't been cut for a couple of week and lumps of rock protruding. I certainly don't expect a bowling green, but I feel with the prices that C&C sites charge and the amount of work that had clearly been done on upgrading the site, an attempt to level out some of the lumps should have been made.
The Tent field is also the furthest from the toilet block - which I always find strange given that caravans and motorhomes have less of a need (especially in the middle of the night!).
We won't be back but hope the tent field is improved for the future.
