Just returned from a 2 night stay here [fri & sat]. We last visited here in 2007, and a few improvements have been done since then.
Being only a small CL site, it was'nt too busy, the grass was neatly cut, the toilets, whilst being a little dated are clean & functional, the owners are friendly too.
The showers are free and hot and the cubicles are large enough to get changed in without all your clothes getting wet [they are also situated in their own 'booth'. A nice touch].
There was a little noise from the combine harvester working in the surrounding fields, and a few tractors up & down the lane but this is a working farm, so only to be expected.
The site is handy for the Great Central Railway, and we took a ride on the train for the whole length of the line. Wifey spent a couple of hours 'shopping' in Loughborough, whils I just sat on the Station watching the [steam] trains.
We were joined on Saturday night by friends & enjoyed a few beers and burnt [BBQ'd] sausages
One downside to the weekend was that the friendly owner was [quite rightly] upset that some-one in a Motor Home turned up, spent Saturday night there and sneaked off early sunday morning without paying. Totally despicable, especially from some-one who can actually afford £20k's worth of motor-home [we were in our £1000 Trailer Tent. And £15 for a night is pretty reasonable by my standards]
Will we go back???. Yes, and hopefully it will not be in another 9 years like it was this time.

The owners were not in when we arrived. A very pleasant young lady who was tending her horse told us to site our caravan wherever we wished in the camping field. We entered the camping field without any problem by turning our unit in the yard where we had parked to seek directions and driving through the entrance gate with ease. Being the only unit on site at that time, we sited our unit midway along the long fence adjacent to the buildings and went to visit relatives for the evening.
When we returned about 10pm we encountered an elderly couple with a brand new 4x4 and caravan blocking the entrance. There was also a small motorhome sited in one corner approximately 20 meters away from our our van. After entering the field the elderly gentleman proceeded to site his unit using his motor mover. When we looked outside the following morning, his unit was less than 3 meters from our unit and approximately 15 meters from the motorhome (so much for the convenience of motor movers, they are obviously only as good as the operator)!.
As for the toilets and showers being cheap and cheerful, so are the site fees. I cannot understand people using 5 van sites and expecting 5 star facilities, these can be found (and paid for) at the more commercially developed sites. I would certainly use this well located, quiet and peaceful site in the future. It is also well within walking distance of the Great Central Railway station at Quorn.

Just had a lovely weekend at Whatoff Lodge farm, we booked for one night and there were 4 units, 3 tents and a caravan.
We were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us around the site, as other reviewers have stated the toilets and showers are nothing to right home about, but were clean and if you want luxury facilities you expect to pay luxury prices.
The owner was very obliging and we did not leave until 6 pm on Sunday at no extra cost.
We definitely will be going back.

We were warmly greeted by campsite owner and shown to the camp field which is all lush grass but uneven (ridge and furrow).
The camp field is part of a working farm, with some noise from heavy plant which whistles through the farmyard - need to keep a good eye on your children's' safety. From time to time, sheep were herded through the camp field.
There are some permanent residents.
Sanitary facilities are woefully inadequate and absolutely filthy.
There was only one (out of 2) showers working when we were there - the second was hanging off the wall while still electrically 'live'.
Campsite is in the countryside, very close to the Quorn Great Central Railway. There are no nearby shops, but there is a restaurant (mains £12 plus)within walking distance.

So much more than a campsite! We expected a field to pitch our tent with such a low cost yet were greeted by the nicest, warmest people who would do anything for you! Electric hookup, clean toilets and shower facilities and even a little kitchen area for washing up! A lot more than expected! Even the noise of lambs and horses in the next fields was a welcome addition and the children loved the horses coming to say hello at the fence before we left! So impressed with this little find! We will absolutely be back next time we are in the area and may even bring the dogs too (now we know they're welcome too) It was only one night but we are so happy we found you! Many thanks, Gary Amy and the kids!

I booked this site for a party of 7 units comprising of both tents and caravans for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend. I think the first thing to mention is that the entrance to the camping field is at a difficult angle if you are towing a caravan, we managed to manoeuvre ours in with the mover but others had to reverse their caravans though the gate which is ok if you have someone there to guide you in. Secondly the field itself is undulating. Again if you have a caravan be careful not to ground it on one of the hillocks as we lost a foot off the bottom of a front steady on our van. Thirdly the site facilities were very disappointing, dirty showers and sinks, no toilet paper, we mentioned this to the owner and she provided us with 2 rolls but seemed very put out when that quickly got used and had to provide more. The fact that the 2 toilets (one of which was very unpleasant on all accounts) was being used by 25 campers plus the farm workers I'm not quite sure how long she expected these to last! The two farm dogs were allowed to roam freely and often visited our camp. Whilst the dogs were friendly the terrier Patch, frequently liked to cock his leg up our awnings, chairs, tables etc which was very frustrating, especially as we had our own dogs who we always made sure we cleaned up after.
That said we were celebrating a birthday that weekend and the owner kindly brought a bottle of wine over for the birthday boy which was a nice touch and the site does have nice views and is close to a nice pub and the steam railway.

Arrived on a beautiful afternoon and were the only van there. The owner showed us the facilities. On closer inspection the toilets were not clean, no toilet paper or anything to dry your hands on. The washing up facilities were good but once again grimey so didn't use them. The farm has a number of workers living in caravans and although I was the only female, everyone used the female toilet as the male loo was unpleasant. The showers were also dirty and we only used them once. None of the facilities were cleaned during our 5 night stay. The chemical disposal point was the worst I have come across in a long time of caravanning. We had booked and paid for 5 nights so we stayed but would not consider returning. Extremely disappointing as there were several signs up that said 'help us to help you' but no effort was made by the owners to keep anything clean.

We had a grand first voyage in our new motorhome, the weather was lovely, we had superb spot with a great view, the facilities all worked fine and we received a warm welcome.
Thank you very much for a very special weekend we shall never forget.
There is nothing bad to say about the campsite as it is exactly what you see, a working farm!
The classic car show at the great central railway was a real bonus too!
Thank you very much.

We have just stayed at Whatoff Lodge for a long weekend and found it to be great. It is a small site, the owners are friendly but not intrusive.
Please remember that this is a working farm so there will be some noise, but like anything in this world, it is only what YOU make it.
The facilities are rustic and typical farm buildings, but clean with lots of hot water.
The local area is great, just outside Quorn and a couple of miles from Loughborough.

LOVELY PLACE TO STAY !
Stayed here for a night and I must say I would go back time and time again.
Owners are very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Kids enjoyed playing in the field and did not want to leave.
Toilets and showers are to high standard of cleanliness and for anyone planning to stay here you would not be disappointed.
Very quiet spot on a working farm.
Lovely place, lovely people and most of all very welcoming.
