Well,we visited this site again as promised, this time we were the only unit there. It seemed strange being the only unit [the first time we've ever had a whole field to ourselves], but we found the site as nice as it was last year.
Our dog renewed his acquaintance with the farm dog [he's a lovely old pooch] and we chatted a while with the owner [who seems very friendly]. There are electric hook ups there, but we don't use them as we use the car battery. It was a very relaxing weekend .and we'll definitely be going again either this year or next year.

We thought it was 1st class, the toilet block was very clean and looked fairly new,the grass was well cut considering it was "just a field",it was a quiet site, with just ourselves and two other Trailer Tents there, there's a nice pub only just up the road which served excellent meals and the preserved "Great Central Railway" runs past the end of the drive. Our Trailer electrics run from the car battery,so no hook up was needed. We'll definitely be visiting again this year.

After reading a rather nasty review of Whatof Lodge farm , I was slightly concerned about the site, Hwever it was absolutely delightful with clean showers and loos and a very warm welcome. The site was beautiful and friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

July 2004 We went last year and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Peaceful, relaxed atmosphere with a steam train passing every now and then in the distance. Will be returning there sometime soon. We didn't go out into the surrounding area so have no relevant comments to make.

February 2005 As the owner of Whatoff Lodge Farm I would like to correct some mistakes in Blackelle's review. He was surprised that we said we were full with only 5 tents/caravans there - we only have planning permission for 5 unless it is an organised rally. The showers are for male or female use (although the sign may have been confusing!) There is a chemical disposal point.
His comments about electricity were fair enough however we have installed proper permanent hook ups since his visit.

July 2004 Have just come back from a weekend at Whatoff Lodge. I had previously phoned to ensure a space and was told that they could fit us in at a push as they were close to fully booked. Well stayed for two nights and there was us and maybe four tents.
When I pre-booked, I asked for electric hook-up. When we got there, we had to put our cable through their kitchen window,(after the connection was taken off and replaced with a normal plug). I was a bit miffed as all weekend we had farm traffic and visitors driving over our cable. I was also disappointed when the site owners wanted to go out early on Sunday morning and we had to then disconnect the electric early.
Apart from that, the shower faciltities for the ladies were really great, the men I am afraid manage with a sink and loo in a shed and by the way their is no waste disposal point as such.
