We spent the Easter bank holiday weekend here. This was our first camping trip as a complete family, (9 in total, including 2 young grandsons.) We were pre-warned that as it was a working farm the children would have to be supervised at all times to ensure everyone's safety and that certain areas would be 'out of bounds'. This didn't cause any problems as the field was big enough for us to see the children at all times, as well as any 'traffic' coming down the (rather bumpy) track. The area was also big enough for ball games with the children although if the site was full that might have been different.
We were situated in the corner furthest from the gated entrance, next to a field of sheep,(the children watched twin lambs being born.) The ground was slightly undulating but not enough to cause problems pitching the tent and no puddles left after a freak rainstorm (including hail and thunder.) Electric hook ups were available nearer to the main track. On site facilities are as stated in other reviews and were more than adequate for our needs. Farm noise was minimal throughout our stay.
As the weather was so hot, we lacked the inclination to do anything other than laze around but did venture into Loughborough for supplies. All in all, this was a long weekend that was enjoyed by all. A very pleasant site if you want an 'away from it all' break for a few days. Everyone in our party agreed that it is somewhere we'll visit again.Very high praise from the teens!

I found Whatoff on UKCampsite.co.uk on an internet terminal in the motorway services, quick call to confirm space and we arrived soon after.
Our stay at Whatoff was during the hot Easter weather and was lovely. We camped in the field which has slight undulations. The grass was a little long (6') but clean and lush and the field was basic and quiet.
There is distant traffic noise but nothing intrusive and only occasional farm working sounds which are to be expected. Facilities are basic but adequate with a shower, couple of toilets, single basin for pot washing with hot water and a fresh water tap.
The welcome was warm and we had the field to ourselves for 3 days and then when people arrived for the bank holiday weekend, they were friendly, nice and quiet.
The access road from the main road is untarmaced and could be dirty in wet weather but was just dusty for us. Lovely views, steam train nearby only added to the appeal. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this small site for a quiet stay in the country.

We found the gentleman who runs it on arrival was very welcoming and showed me the facilities. There are two toilets, two showers and a good indoor washing up area. It is lovely site, basic but with a good position.
Once we had pitched the a lady came over, we thought to welcome us but instead she just said how much she didn't want to do this anymore because people would just turn up and pitch second tents and not expect to pay. We had two tents but I had told her this when I booked earlier that same day and I had already paid her husband on arrival for both tents. She asked twice if we had paid. This created a rather unwelcoming atmosphere and if we hadn't just spent the time setting up the tents we would have left. We decided to forget about it and just get on and have a relaxing evening and cook dinner.
We purposefully brought bricks from home with us to make sure we would not leave any damage or mess with our disposable BBQ, but she stormed round and stated that we would be damaging the grass. The site is a sheep field with 10' grass, not a manicured lawn. We had not caused any damage as we had raised the BBQ as we are responsible campers. However this didn't seem to make any difference to her.
Although we only saw this lady twice during our stay she really let down what otherwise would be a fantastic site. I don't want to put other people off from going as other reviews have been great so perhaps it was a bad day which I'm sure we all have.

Enjoyed our stay. It's within 100 metres of the GCR Steam Railway so expect Whistles and the sound of steam engines on operating days! The camping field is small, hedged, sheltered and quiet. Nicely grassed although could have done with cutting when we were there.
There are 5 hookup pitches and probably about 5-6 non hookup spaces.
The facilities are about 30 metres from the camping field. 2 showers and 2 toilets although one toilet is in a separate building. No full size basins to wash in just vanity basins in toilets. A bit limited for having a wash. 2 electric showers.
Lots of hot water and free. Each shower in a separate room with hooks, duck boards, and chair, so no problem getting dry and dressed unlike some places. The indoor wash-up room is large and would be a great asset in wet weather. Has work top as well as big sink with hot water. There is a dishwasher but not sure if it's usable.
Only criticism of the facilities is that they could be cleaner. Everything was a bit dusty and spidery. However not unsanitary. More frequent cleaning and or/some tiling would help. Also cleaning equipment could be left out to clean down after use.
It's a basic site. Field and facilities only. No play area, shop, drying room, games room etc. Good base for visiting the Great Central Railway. Quorn station is 5 mins walk.
All in all, a very pleasant quiet friendly site. Will return.

The site is basic, and on a working farm. I stayed there 2 nights for The Great Central Railway War Weekend. I had no real problems. Water is easily available, toilets, shower/wash area, and a place to wash up are basic, but the same standard of other campsites. I read a comment by a previous visitor about the farm dogs - I only met 1 dog which was friendly, and did not hang around the field.
I will gladly go back next year.

Handy site for Loughborough. Not that easy to find for me as the postcode came up on multimap as the farm about 1/2 a mile down the road. Friendly and relaxed and very good value. All level grass piteches in basically a big field. Hook ups appeared to be limited to the edges nearest the house. Didn't have my dog with me this time though looked to be pretty good for dogs. Toilet and shower facilities fine. Site was very quiet when I was there, so toilet and shower could get busy if the site had been fuller. Only stopped one night and did not visit immediate area. Not sure how close any shops etc would be. Pub maybe half a mile away. Would definitely revisit.

This is a nice quiet site, although the field is fairly small- showers good- sinks for facewashing very small! Also the 'pot wash' area was not in use when we visited- the owner invited me to use the handwashing sinks, which was v awkward. So don't expect great facilities-basic but pleasant.
When we booked I asked the owner if we could bring dogs- said yes as long as we picked up after them, however the owners dogs just wander around unchecked
Having said that a nice quiet site, basic and cheap.

Our gripes being the farmer deciding to cut the grass at 19. 00 at night whist everyone was having their dinner. The cattle in next field is great with a reflection on the working farm however we were instructed to keep away from the fence because the bull was dangerous. Our biggest gripe was the farm dogs which have full roaming rights of the site and sit begging for food whilst you have yours. Just a bloody nuisance. With a little bit more on man management this really could be a lovely site. Clean toilets and showers.

Hospitality
A massive thank you to Shirley! I took my two small children (2 and 4 years) for a weekend break, staying at Whattoff Lodge Farm and we were very well looked after.
Facilities
The kids loved the farm, being enthusiastic about everything from the sheep in the field next to our tent, to the farm dogs and especially the tractors working around us.
The showers were top quality, the toilets well kept. Shirley gave us both recycling and waste bags for our rubbish and there were facilities for drinking water and electricity and chemical loo disposal for the caravanners.
The field we stayed in was perfect for the kids to run around in and there was only one entrance, making it perfect to make sure my two year old didn't escape!
Surrounding Area
We visited on a 'Day out with Thomas' weekend at the nearby Quorn Station on the Great Central Railway (walking distance), with steam trains and activities for the kids.
The local pub, the Manor House (walking distance), is recommended by the Gourmet Society and with good reason. We had a delicious meal there and would love to go again.
All in all, a top weekend. Even the rain on the last morning didn't dampen our spirits, especially since Tigers won the rugby, so I went home to a happy husband on his return from Cardiff! Thanks again for a lovely time. We hope to return.

This is a delightful site on a working farm. The field, which has space for only about half a dozen tents / caravans, is slightly undulating which I think might be due to ancient ridge and furrow farming. We were camping and it didn’t cause us any real problems.
The owners were away when we stayed but they had arranged for friendly people to show us around and collect the money! £10.50 per tent per night.
I would say that the facilities were above average; two nice warm showers, two sinks for washing up with plenty of hot water and two clean loos.
Our trip coincided with calving/lambing time so the cows were unusually vocal! But the kids loved watching the new lambs in the next field. Ahhh!
Contrary to previous reviews we found the approach to the farm to be a well maintained gravel track. Maybe low slung sports cars would have a problem! We certainly didn’t have any trouble with it. We also kept our eyes out for the famous rats. Unfortunately we saw no sign of them!
We had a lovely afternoon in the nearest pub “The Manor”, 5 minutes walk away, and enjoyed watching the steam trains from the garden.
