As the owners of Whatoff Lodge campsite, we have taken note of previous reviews and are pleased to announce the following improvements to our facilities. The toilets have been tiled and painted, with new lights and a mirror. New for 2009 are 2 sinks with hot water for washing up, with an adjoining large room suitable for functions or just relaxing.
Rats are a problem anywhere in the countryside and we deal with them effectively with bait boxes. There are plenty of dustbins and we have improved the signs.
For those using the chemical waste there will be a new rinsing out facility by Easter 2009. We will again be spending a considerable amount of money to improve our driveway. We look forward to welcoming new visitors plus the many who return year on year.

Visited in middle of the week. This is a working farm with a field for campers. The field is large, slightly uneven in places. The farm is on the outskirts of Quorn so is fairly rural and quiet, with no light pollution. Access is via a rough road which is on the other side of a bridge from a steam railway and pub.
The gents toilet was very basic but the showers were modern, with hot water and very clean facilities and were free which balanced the relatively high GBP8.50/night price (just for a tent).
Owners were friendly and helpful and I got the impression that the farm is fairly secure. Only downside (and in danger of sounding like a city type) is that I was surprised by the number of large rats around the farm used to humans. Otherwise I would probably return again as it is so secluded and quiet.

After reading reviews I was excited looking forward to my visit. How disappointed I was to find limited facilities for the price. The welcome was not so friendly. The showers were excellent but the rest of the facilities very poor. Be warned anyone going they ask you to take your owm rubbish home. Chemical waste disposal point horrendous with no water supply for rinsing out your unit. The farm dogs are allowed to foul the field and I had to spend time clearing away dog faeces from around my caravan. The field is nice and peaceful and with a little management could be lovely. Close to all amenities.

Stayed at this site for 7 nights in July. The owners very friendly as was the sheepdog. The showers, and other facilities were clean and we didn't have to wait even on the days when site was full. Plenty to see in surrounding areas, and enough shops nearby to get all supplies needed. The only down side for us was the condition of the drive ,big ruts and bumps kept hitting the bottom of vehicle

Have just returned from a weekend at the above CL. Not impressed! If it weren't for the locality and the Great Central Railway, the availability of the buses and the village we would have turned round and gone home.
This is not a pretty site and the facilities leave a lot to be desired.
However our major point was the legality of the closeness of the units. We could touch units either side of us as we left our unit. If there had been a fire goodness only knows what might have happened, particularly if it had been during the day when people were out for the day.
We will not be returning or recommending to our friends.

Site was very quiet camperwise but noisy due to traffic up and down the farm track (lots of different goings on at farm). Showers were ok but lack of a sink and mirrror for washing were a bit disappointing. Toilets x 2 ok but no light in one and lack of loo paper. Windy field with no shelter but clean and tidy. Would benefit from some organisation as found disposing of rubbish a problem.
Location: over the bridge pass the manor house pub first right down the dirt track (don't ask in the pub they don't know )

What a fantastic find, extremely friendly owners, made us feel very welcome. Surrounding area beautiful. Only able to manage a short visit this time, but definitely going back again for a longer period. On approaching the site would be nice to have Whatoff Lodge Farm sign, so can be seen from either approach.

This site is a wonderful little farm site. The owners are very friendly and very helpful. The showers are clean and always with hot water. An electric point for a hairdryer would have been nice but it is camping. There is electric Hook ups but we don't have electrics. There is a pub/restaurant within walking distance and more pubs, takeaways and Good chippy in Quorn a short drive away. There is a steam train which travels from Leicester to Loughborough (Great central railway) also within walking distance which is well worth a visit. I would recommend this site and will be visiting again soon.

I was very pleased to find this hidden gem. Owners and dog very friendly, facilities better than expected from such a small site.
I was one of only three tents to pitch there on a hot sunny week-end in August. If you want want a 'get away from it all' experience. This is as good as any.
The local Steam Railway from Quorn Woodhouse station to Loughborough is a great nostaligia trip.

A very warm welcome and as we were only staying one night we where allowed to camp opposite the house. a very quiet site with not much going on in the area, although there is a pub/restaurant within walking distance. If you are celebrating this is the place to be as prices are a little high, although I was told that there was another pub further down the road. We were very happy with the facilities and people here and would recommend to anyone.
