What a fantastic site! Toured around Wales & The Lakes for just over two weeks & this site was head & shoulders above the rest.
Ian & Marion made us feel so welcome, like others have said, drink on arrival was a lovely touch.
Got some great advice about local walks, used a couple of Ian's laminated guides, very handy indeed!. Had some lovely chats about the area, its wildlife, especially the numerous birds that visit the garden.
Toilets/showers/washing up area was kept spotlessly clean.
This is a small, quiet, friendly (child free) site = perfect!

It is difficult to write a review on such a fantastic site as so many before have said it all. The provision of multiple shower/toilet and wash facilities is more the adequate for a small site. The provision of a tumble dryer is a true bonus. There are also other small basics provided, hairdryer/brush/mop and buckets. They provided a supply of local guides and had extensive knowledge of local walks (all laminated in a folder for your use). The pitches are well laid out and clearly marked for your arrival. This is where my only criticism lay-we had booked an EHU and they advised us we would be on a hard standing pitch. (My own fault;but I didn't take rock pegs). All other pitches are grass.
The adult only and noise rules make for a very peaceful stay at this site. The evening peace is greatly enhanced due to no pubs or shops nearby. There is a chip shop and village shop a couple of miles up the road but the closest facilities are at Caernarfon (15 min drive).
The site is within walking distance of the Snowdon Ranger path up Snowdon (although I would advise drive to the car park as you take your life in your hands on the road-£4 for all day parking). Silverbirches is very much on the quiet side of Snowdon; but within very good striking distance of some very good walking; (Beddgelert Forest/Dinas Dinlle beech and so much more).
I can truly understand why this little site is so highly reviewed; it has everything one needs for such a peaceful stay. This is a site that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated-can't wait to return.

I can't add much more to whats already been said. This has to be the best small campsite in North Wales! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a welcome cup of tea to the morning we left the owners Ian & Marrion were outstanding and very helpful.
The site is small and basic but everything you need is provided. The no noise rule is enforced and everthing is cleaned daily. Ians knowledge and advice about local walks is invaluable.
Avoid the local fish and chip shop very dissapointing as is the food at the Micro pub along the road. Snowdon Sherpa buses are usefull and a handy way to get around. OK so it rained everyday but this is Wales!.
I have been camping for 20 odd years and this is 1 of the only 2 or 3 sites I would visit again.

We've just returned from 5 days at this site. It is a cosy site with just 13 units. There are amazing views and there's the sound of a rushing river. The Welsh Highland railway runs by the site which is great to hear and see.
There's a road by the site but because it's lower than the site you barely notice it. The facilities are basic but clean and kept well stocked. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
On Friday evening after a day of non stop rain we were all invited into their house to benefit from their log burner which was kind and very welcome.

What can be said about this little gem of a campsite that has not been already said. A predominately tent only site with room for one or two very small motorhomes. Set within the snowdonia national park fantastic views are ensured.
The site is beautifully run by Marion and Ian the owners and it is a very tranquil and peaceful site. The Amenties were always clean and Marion and Ian bent over backwards to ensure our stay was memorable. We to would vote for this site as being the number one site in the country.

Quite possibly the perfect campsite, in my book at least.
Location was superb, being nestled in the valley south of Snowdon (rather than the much busier Llanberis Pass) meant we had a much quieter holiday than I expected. Despite being quite close to the road, the pitches are raised up and this meant we barely heard or saw what little traffic there was. The biggest 'disruption' was the steam railway across the valley, with a couple of trains each day! There doesn't seem to be any mobile phone signal on the site though, no problems for us but maybe worth bearing in mind if it's important for you.
As others have mentioned, the level of facilities and service from Marion and Ian was flawless. Tea and biscuits when we arrived, our pitch marked out and reserved for us, spotless loos/showers, and even a few helpful appliances (washer/dryer, freezer and microwave) available for a nominal extra fee.
The only criticism is that there is very little nearby - the nearest supermarket is in Caernarfon, with only a couple of little shops in between, and crucially no pub within walking distance!
However, this was a small price to pay to be so close to Snowdon, and in particular the start of the fantastic Snowdon Ranger walk. Highlight of my trip was to walk the mile or so to the start of the Ranger path, up and then descend into Llanberis for a pint of tea in Pete's Eats and the Sherpa bus back to the campsite.

What a fantastic camp site. I have visited many over the years. Where does one start. Welcome first class. Tea and biscuits, nowhere before have I ever. Site cleanliness, well the best I have seen.
Lovely peaceful site. Ian and marrion have thought of everything. They must have people keep coming back and so will we. This site is well worth going to and is in easy reach of everything. Including Mt Snowdon @ 1 mile down the road.

Our second stay at Silver Birch, and just as good as the first time. Ian and Marion very welcoming and friendly, (cup of tea and biccies on arrival and happy chats throughout the stay) and the site is certainly picturesque with great facilities.
Cant add to our last (or anyone elses reviews) regarding the site as it hasn't changed at all, but thought would mention the great location this time. Not just handy for Snowdon and all those fab walks, but really close to amazing beaches too. We drove to the closest and it only took 15 minutes if that - very dog friendly and goes on forever. Infact on the Saturday when it rained all day, we drove around North Wales and managed to cover from Abersoch right up to Conwy in just a few hours.
An excellent fish and chip shop in the next village with great opening hours and massive portions, and a handy little shop next door for papers and milk etc., - only 3 minutes up the road. Not far from a Gellert Camping Shop either, just in case you need anything urgently.
Great location, handy for so much and lovely little campsite - still our favourite and we hope to visit much more this year.

This campsite is great. The pitching ground is flat and good to camp on. The toilets and showers are lovely and clean, Marion and Ian couldn't have been more helpful, and were lovely hosts.
The view from out tent was amazing, and we definitely would stay again, we are hoping to go back in summer 10. It's a lovely, quiet campsite that is perfect for a rural getaway. It was also nice to have no children running around too.

A five star campsite! If you appreciate a great situation, a warm but not intrusive welcome and spot-on facilities. There are wash-rooms as well as showers; microwave and washing machine on an honesty-box basis, free freezer with freezer blocks provided, a folder with personal knowledge of what is available as well as a book exchange facility.
All this with the guarantee of a small site (max 13 pitches), no children under 15 accepted and a very reasonable price given the wayward fees charged by other Snowdonia camp-sites. Dogs (well-behaved) are welcome (for no extra cost) - important for us.
The access to an area for walking that avoids the crowds in the known hot-spots is superb. Given that, access to Snowdon is easy - not least via the Sherpa buses or the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Also, with just a short drive, Llanberis, the Ogwen Valley, Newborough Forest and Sands etc are easily reachable.
On the one hand, I would rather you not go there because I want to preserve the sense of quiet recreation that this camp site allows. On the other, please go, because this is a superb site which deserves to be successful. I'm sure that once you experience it, like us, you will be only too keen to return.
