Used this site as a stop over on the way down to the Vendee, have to say its a hidden gem. Having read some of the reviews was a little worried about how tight the approaching roads would be, but we managed with our large twin axle van without to many problems, would advise checking on google maps which route to take into the site as there are two. We used one to get in with a tight bend but ok, and the other to get out, which worked well.
On arrival the managers welcomed us and guided us and our friends to suitable pitches side by side, with plenty of space for the van, but would have been a little tight if we had wanted to put an awning up. There are bigger pitches however so for longer stays would recommend contact the site before hand and arranging an end of aisle pitch.
Toilet block was clean and tidy, with separate male and female sections, plenty of showers and hot water, washing machines were available if required.
Plenty to keep the kids entertained with a small park, table tennis table etc.
Super you is a short drive across the town square with cheap petrol etc. Not open on Sundays though.
Will use again, and has given us a great first impression of municipal sites.

Many reviews confirm our experience. We found the site was a comfortable drive from Calais, and mid-way on our route making it ideally located. The route in is a little tight but will only present an issue to the very longest rigs, it wasn't any problem for our car & van.
Good facilities, the site was tidy and clean, nice size pitches, maybe a bit tight with a full awning but there were other large pitches to be had.
We arrived about 3:30pm if I recall correctly, and we observed that as time went by the site began to fill so by 17:00 I would say it was about 60% capacity. The lady manager speaks a little english, and is very helpful.
The site has a lovely river alongside, good fencing though. For Dog owners, there is a nice field within the site to exercise your fido, very welcome leg stretch.
Will definitely use this year.

What a treat this was, a real surprise after a long journey. We used it for a stop over on the way to the Vendee, and really wished we could have stayed longer. The reception was very welcome and the pitch was just perfect right by the river. A quiet site with just adults in June. Showers and Toilets were plentiful and very clean. We didn't have time to explore the small town but it looked nice, so is on our list to revisit.

Stayed one night as a stopover from Cherbourg down to Brantome, about a 3 hour drive if I remember correctly. Lovely site to break up a journey. Didnt go into village but walked around the site along the river, it was the first dry day they had in a while. Showers very good and clean. Very peaceful. Would use it again and hopefully see the village. We were given a large pitch. Not much more I can add but a good site.

This is a gem of a site. We have stopped here 3 times for one night stop overs as we find it is the perfect distance coming off of the Eurotunnel. Would echo what everyone else says, immaculate toilet block, big pitches, gorgeous peaceful location next to the river and Marie, the receptionist, could not be more helpful. Town itself is pretty with supermarket, boulangerie etc within easy walking distance. If only this site had a pool I would happily stay here for my whole holiday.

Very nice site by the river and at 10. 60 euros for the night also cheap.
The toilet and shower block were pristine, hats of to the cleaners, I have visited many camp-sites and this was far and above the cleanest I have ever seen.
Quiet site and very helpful on reception
Only stayed 1 night as we were travelling on, so did not see much of the town, but have seen other parts of the sarthe region which is well worth going back too.

Fantastic campsite, very easy to find, well worth more than a 1 night stopover, very clean toilets / showers. Nice easy check in. Pitches are decent size and well kept. Easy walk in to town

Despite reading the other reviews, this site exceeded my expectations and was a great place to spend the last few days of our holiday. The site was very peaceful and as we had a river pitch, watching the family of 7 otters on the other side of the bank was such a delight. Most of the pitches were well kept and some had shade. Toilet block was immaculate. There was a mixture of British, French and Dutch. Some pitches were obviously taken for the season by the look of the grass around them.
The route from the traffic lights in the town is a little disconcerting but just drive very slowly and follow the signs and when you think OMG where is this taking me, keep following the signs and you will arrive within seconds (actually it’s very easy).
Walk out of the site and turn left and you come to the castle mound; either take the first steps up or walk round a little further to find the gravel path to the top and enjoy a game of crazy golf while listening to the locals play petanque below. After that, explore the old part of the town which is in the process of cobbling all its narrow lanes. Enjoy a beer in the square then meander forward and left down the lanes to the old bridge and enjoy the views over the river.
DO NOT leave this area without visiting Le Mans with its ancient city. During this holiday we came across many ancient and amazing ancient villages but this town is just like a film set and topped the lot. This summer there was the added attraction of a laser show at dusk. Le Mans is about 20 minutes south. 20 minutes NW is the little ancient town of Fresnay – well worth a visit on a Saturday when the local market is on.
This site is too good for just a stopover. Stay at least a couple of nights and enjoy its delights.

Very peaceful location by river, otter swam past as we were pitching up. Amenities block clean and spacious, good shower. No toilet paper or soap provided. Children enjoyed playground and grass area to run around on. Walked into pretty village to patisserie, small supermarket for milk etc. Would use site again en route further south, scenic countryside, but not a lot to do in area. Handy location to pull off main road from Alencon and Le Mans. Arrive before 7pm, as reception shuts. 10. 90 Euros per night with no electricity.

This site was fantastic, beautifully kept with long, wide, grassy pitches divided by low hedges.
The staff couldn't be more pleasant or helpful.
The shower block was spotless, very modern and warm and all for 14 euros a night with hookup.
I would happily spend my whole holiday at this site if it weren't for the fact that there is not much to see or do unless you wish to drive out for the days, it was sad to see so many of the local shops were closed down and for sale.
We had a beautiful meal at Hotel de la Barque.
A great place for a stop over.
