We were welcomed by a lovely lady who spoke great English and knew everything there is to know about staying in the very small town of Beaumont Sur Sarthe.

A lovely site with clean, extensive shower/washing facilities.

Sadly, the restaurant and pizza place were shut as owners on holiday, but there was a small bar in town to get a drink, a small supermarket, also in town and a larger (outskirts of town ) supermarket with diesel at on 1. 52 euros.

Baked goods can be ordered (cash only) in the evening and delivered fresh in the morning. Best Croissants all holiday!

Superb municipal campsite, lovely big pitches, and spotless toilet block.

And for under £14 it was superb value compares to the UK.

There was also an on site fishing lake and the local village was only 2 mins walk away.

 Can’t praise this site enough.

For a municipal site it is exceptional and the lady in reception gives a warm welcome. She even delivered our bread order to our plot on her bike. Grasspitches of varying sizes, some back onto the river.

The central building houses very clean and efficient toilet and shower facilities with plenty of hot water. We did have to take our own toilet appear but that was no problem.

The building also houses a games room with large tv and comfortable seating for wet days.

All in all, for the equivalent of less than £14. 00 a night I can certainly recommend this site if you are using the A28 (J21).

This is a great municipal campsite. We got a pitch beside the (fenced off ) river. The saitary block was nearby, the facilities were very clean. The block included a large TV lounge, handy for bad weather. There was a big field for walking dogs, which was a nice touch.

The town was really nice, it had a lovely old part, with a good mini-market which sold meat, a butchers shop, a bakers, a chemist, tabac and restaurant. We've stopped at sites in this general area where the town/village has a forgotten about atmosphere, thankfully this town has plenty of life.

The lady in reception was very nice. I had a toothache while staying here and she tried her best to get me a dentist, making numerous phone calls on my behalf. Unfortunately, as it was holiday time, no dentists were available. She pointed me in the direction of the pharmacy and that had to suffice.

This is a good stop off site, with a nice town nearby. It wasn't too busy while we were there at the end of July, so no problem getting a pitch without booking.

We stayed here again this year, as it's an easy drive to Ouistreham for the afternoon ferry.

All the things we like about this site remain the same although there was a feeling of neglect regarding the grass cutting and the hedge trimming.

On approaching the site, the narrow track used to pass behind a large barn with limited vision of the road ahead.

The barn has now been demolished and the land covered in hard core. This makes it much easier to see any vehicles coming the other way.

We paid a meagre E16. 38. (£14. 06).

We will definitely stay here again.

This is a real gem. It's a convenient stop between Le Mans and the Ouistreham ferry so we only stayed one night but it's really worth longer. We had one of the row of pitches right by the River Sarthe.

It's a short stroll to see the Roman bridge. We would have eaten at the Logis Hotel but unfortunately the restaurant (which gets good reviews) was closed that night. But we did make use of the large Aldi at the north end of the town.

As others have said, the facilities are excellent and it even has a comfortable lounge with a TV.

There's a proper place for vans to drop grey water and another for toilet disposal (when you can find it. Tip: it's on the side of the facilities block away from the river).

As always the question: how can the French provide sites that are so good and so cheap?

All the facilities were very clean, and the receptionist was very helpful, and that she spoke good English was a bonus.

The approach was well signposted, and the whole site had a welcoming atmosphere.

The site was set in a lovely setting by the river.

Big pitches very clean and tidy would recommend.

It was really handy for the town which had all the facilities which one would need, nice restaurant, nice cafes and a large supermarket
