Just a couple of points to add to the reviews so far:
There is a sign outside the entrance which states (in French) that twin axle vans are not allowed on the site, and nor are outfits over 2500 Kg!
We visited for an overnight stop on the way South, having booked by email previously, and there was no mention of this on the website.
We turned up with our twin axle and got in, although I'm not sure whether the lady in the office realised it was a twin or not (but she was grumpy and unhelpful - didn't even show us a plan of the site - just told us to pitch anywhere.
The site was very pleasant, although access roads were very narrow and you have to be careful not to take a wrong turn in the town, but I won't be risking it again.

Lovely and immaculate site. Will be staying again. Right by the river with lots of trees, hedges and shrubs giving a very verdant feel. When we arrived we were told to just chose the pitch we wanted.
Need to take note of where the electricity supply is in relation to your pitch as there are a few pitches that are quite a distance from the supply point.
Owner speaks a little English, is very friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower facilities are huge and immaculate, but don't forget your loo roll!
Site within easy walking distance of the shops and main street with a restaurant at the top of the entrance road which I feel I should note is a bit windy and the final entry to the site a little steep. Having said that we got our 7.5 mt van in and around ok.
Only stayed a couple of nights so didn't explore the local area but there is a good size supermarket and fuel station about 3 mins up the road and site easy to find off the motorway.

Stopped at this site for one night on our way to another site in the Vendee. I was a bit apprehensive as it was our first trip abroad with the caravan and I had only booked the site based on the other reviews left.
We arrived at 6pm not particularly easy to find but our sat nav got us there ok. Unusual site entry through some narrow streets but we were towing a caravan 8mtrs long. However it was a real haven in the middle of a town. We were greeted by the owner and were free to choose our own pitch.
The site was extremely busy (first weekend of the school holidays) and there wasn't much choice. Fortunately we didn't need electric as some of the electric boxes were a fair way from the pitches.
Toilets and showers were excellent and plenty of them very clean and warm water. There is a games room but we didn't venture inside and a play area. We returned here on our home journey (mid week) where it was much quieter. Over all it was a very good stop over site and we would definitely use it again.

Great site, used as an over night stop on the way to St Julien des Landes, approx 6 hour drive from tunnel. Bokked after reading reviews on here and wasn't disappointed.
Arrived and told to pitch anywhere, so stopped on the first part of the site as only intending to stay overnight. Some of the electric points were quite a distance so be careful where you pitch if you only have a short lead.
Clean facilities, large play area for the children, nice town a short walk away.
Did intend to stop on way back but missed the turning on the motorway!

Great overnighter or even for longer, situated on the banks of the river Sarthe on the edge of a pretty cobbled village (2mins walk) ideal for bread/bar/food etc. Some pitches are on the banks of the river and are ideal for fishing, pitches are just large enough for caravan/awning/car. New shower/toilet block, spotlessly clean etc. Only stayed one night but would definitely think about more nights next time. August 2009 prices were 14 euro/night for 2 adults 2 kids and a caravan.
Recommended.

We stayed at this site as a stop over on our way down to La Garangeoire from Calais - it's a good 6 hour tow with a van, and as we'd had an early start was just right.
It was our first experience of French camping, and we weren't disappointed. Helpful staff, cheap as chips, and smashing location. Facilities clean and plentiful, but got caught out by the 6amp electric! Kettle plus water heater do not work together!
Can't really comment on the local town etc, but very easy access off the A28, decent sized pitches and clean facilities mean that we'll use this site again.

We booked this site after reading the reviews on here and we weren't disappointed.
Lovely setting on the banks of the Sarthe. We were told to pick any pitch and there were several left on the riverbank. Really spacious pitches, soft grass and great view. We pitched and had a very tranquil evening.
The toilet and washing facilities are excellent - clean, hygienic, separate bits for men and women. Washing areas all under cover.
We were only here for one night on the way back to Le Havre from Noirmoutier but we are planning to return to this site for much longer next year. It was a lovely end to the holiday and I'm so glad we picked this site.
Really can't fault it - reception lady was lovely and it was as cheap as chips: only cost us 11 euros for giant tent, two adults and two kids.

Lovely site in lovely location. Toilets and showers a credit to the Management. Pitches of good size but beware 5amp electric only. River runs next to site and town is 5 minute walk. Would visit again. ASCI card 10.40 euro per night. The site does tend to get fuller at night with over night stops.

I felt that I had to write a review on this campsite as we have just come back from 10 days camping there, and only went because of the reviews on this website.
The reviews and comments are totally and utterly correct.
We were staying in the area because we were going to the MotoGP at Le Mans, and needed a base close by and as we were in a large tent didn't want to then have to move on for the rest of our holiday.
The site is beautiful and extremely well kept. The shower/toilet block is absolutely spotless, with constant hot water, washing up sinks and as well as a washing machine, some large sinks to wash clothes in. In the area is a Super you supermarket (cheap fuel) an Aldi and some good shops as well as a market on Tuesdays. The lady that runs it is really friendly and kind.
Most people that go use it as a stopover when heading further south or on their way home, so we kept having new neighbours. We found plenty to do and see in the week we were there, the only disappointment being that a lot of the tourist areas were not open for the season yet. That did not stop us driving around the countryside and learning about some of the history of the villages / towns we stopped off at.
I would recommend this site to anyone and I daresay we will be visiting it again, especially as it was so cheap.

We have been visiting this site since 2003. Since then we have visited the site every year at least once. We usually stay on the way further south at the beginning of our trip and then again on the way back to Calais.
It is one of the best sites we have ever stayed on, the setting is beautiful, the shower blocks are immaculate, and Madame who runs the site, is friendly and helpful. The town has everything we need within walking distance, including the weekly market and the Dauphin bar run by the eccentric Lily. Also the artisan boulangerie sells the best croissants and pain au chocolat we have ever tasted.
The fact that it is one of the cheapest sites we have visited is an added bonus.
I hesitated to submit this review as I do not want the site to be overrun!
