My 2 kids and I stayed at this fabulous site in August 2005, en route for a 2 week stay in the Vendee. We also returned 2 weeks later and stayed overnight en route to the ferry. However, of the three campsites we stayed at in total that holiday, this was the most charming, quiet and cleanest site of the lot. It was also a fraction of the price the large seaside sites were charging!
The toilet and washing facilities are an example of what standards all campsites should offer. They are immaculate.
We arrived without a booking, but even in August the site was less than a quarter used. We had the pick of pitches.
The town itself is a little quiet and there were only a couple of restaurants open in the evening. The weekly market (on our way home) was great with fresh fruit and veg in abundance.
I want to go back there and use it as a base to explore the surrounding area, which is very rural and very beautiful.

What a fantastic site! We used this site, after reading the reviews here, for a stopover on our way back home. We weren't disappointed! To access this site you drive through some rather narrow residential streets which was unexpected and there is a barrier at the entrance to site that you need a token (if staying longer than 1 night). We were told to choose a pitch and after driving around the site we decided on one by the river. Most pitches were hedged and of good size, some larger than others. There was a mix of English, French and Dutch on site. The central amenities block was fabulous but did have steps as it was raised off the ground (didn't notice if there was a ramp). As you entered the building, there was a laundry area with washing machine (4 euros), washing sinks and opposite a washing up area with 6 sinks. The ladies showers, wash basins and toilets were on one side of the building and the gents on the other. It was spotlessly clean and very well presented. We didn't use the showers so can't comment. We didn't see the games room so again can't comment, there was a play area for younger children and a grassed area with a net where we played badminton. We only paid 13 euros for pitch, ehu and 2 adults & 2 teenagers! Exceptional value. The local supermarket, in Beaumont, was a Super you with cheap petrol, we didn't look around the town. We loved this site as it was very peaceful even though it is quite big and will definitely return, maybe as a longer stay. Thoroughly recommend this site as a stopover or as a longer stay. Excellent.

We visited the site for 2 overnight stays on our outward and return journey whilst in France. Our outfit is a twin axle 26 foot van as was the other family that travelled with us. Access to the site is a little tight as you have to manoeuvre through small village residential roads, but we did manage it! The toilet and shower block are immaculate. There are separate shower and toilet facilities for men and women if you prefer (remember to take your own toilet roll, common theme in France so we found out!) The washing up area was clean and undercover. The pitches themselves are extremely roomy and if you book in advance to reserve a riverside pitch you will not be disappointed! There is a lovely games room complete with table tennis and the childrens play area was superb for the children that ranged from 6 to 12 years in total among us. All in all we will definitely visit the site again and stay for longer than 1 night! The other bonus was the price - wait for it - 13 euros for 2 adults, 2 children and electricity per night! Just over a tenner to you and I, an absolute bargain! There is also a municipal outdoor pool and tennis court approx 10 minutes walk away that can be used by site members at a discount. The town centre is easily accessible with a 10 minute walk and has a well equipped supermarket on the main road and bars, restaurants if you want to eat out! Make sure you have a long electric lead as we needed approx 20 foot of cable and no adaptor pin is needed. An absolute treasure of a site and the owners were very helpful and accommodating. A perfect stop over as only about 10 mins away from the A28, make it a must on your journey!

This is a lovely site and cheap too. The site is nestled on the bend of a river which is fenced off. Toilets are spotless. Pitches are level and spacious. My niece (6 yrs) enjoyed the play area which was very spacious and well maintained. Location is easy to find making it an excellent stop over.
We’re back in France this March and will definitely stop over here if we’re in that location for our over night stop. I’d even drive that little further or stop a little earlier just to stay here.
We made sure we stopped here on our return leg too, mainly because my father wanted to fish the river, which paid off as he caught a fine fish.
Several English couples had a full season here from some of the people we spoke with.
The village is nice, but we didn’t try any shops etc.

We stayed at this site for a week in our tent and could not fault the facilities. The toilet and shower block was splotlessly clean, it had plenty of showers and sinks for men and women, washing up facilities, a washing machine and sinks for washing clothes. Adjoined to the shower block was a games room with table and chairs, table tennis and table football. There was a big park for children and a badminton net. We had a pitch by the river which had a 2 foot fence round and we were able fish next to our tent. The other side of the river was fields so a very nice outlook. You could walk into the village which had boulangerie, cafes etc and Super U was about 15 minute walk away. Very cheap petrol at Super U. Lots of people use this site for a stopover as it is close to the A28. There was a mixture of caravans, motor homes and a few tents. We visited the village of Fresnay where we hired canoes twice for 5 euros an hour per person. A very pretty village. We went to Alencon which is a big town with plenty of shops bars and restaurants, about 30 mins away. We paid about £57 for a week for 4 of us with electric so very cheap and good value, we would definitely return, my kids loved it and were never bored. They made lots of friends and I always felt it was safe. Highly recommended.

Couldn't agree more with the above comments, an immaculate site within walking distance of the village and municipal outdoor pool, which only cost £1.70 for 1 adult and 2 children and you could stay as long as you wanted. Excellent facilites, top quality showers, hot water etc. Beautiful!

We had a wonderful week in this municipal campsite. It is situated in the medieval town of Beumont ss and is on the banks of the Sarthe. Pitches 19 to about 44 are situated along the riverside : lovely pitches. We sat and watched kingfishers, an otter, fishes popping up and some fellow campers took rods and lines and sat fishing, no apparent problems with permits. The campsite is spacious, generous well marked pitched with hookups if you want them. A real mixture of campers, vans, tents and caravans. Spotless loo and shower block. Canoeing can be done from the next village along at Fresnay. Lovely lady runs the campsite will freeze your ice blocks, sells cold drinks, croissants etc. Lake nearby is Sillke Guillame. Sille plage where you can swim, cycle, go on boats, anything you fancy. We loved the area and thought the campsite was perfect. A real international flavour to it and bliss. Very quiet at night. AND cheap - 2 of us plus tent £24 for the week! Highly recommend it.
