We booked this site for a 2 night stop over enroute to the southern Vendee. What a delight. No problem finding site. Arrived during lunchtime but Marie came out and immediately settled us. Good grassy and hedged pitch. Drained well during a very heavy thunderstorm. Some pitches need long leads to electric. Lovely views of the river. Lots of fishing from pitches. Good children's play area and indoor games room with table tennis. Toilets and shower block spacious and clean. Short walk to village for local shops, small supermarket, indoor swimming pool, crazy golf and tennis courts. 20 miles from Le Mans. Would definitely use this site again if going south west. Thanks

We used this site as an overnight stop on the way down to the Vendee, but wished we could have stayed longer. It is a very well kept site very clean and tidy, a play area for the children. It is right on the river so you can go fishing if you wish. The toilets were very clean. You can walk into the town wish is worth visiting. The cost for one night was 11. 50 euros which we found to be good value. Hope to visit this site again and would stay longer.

Just to update on my previous review. The site has a new warden, the previous one has retired after 32 years! The new ' madame' is very friendly and helpful.
More Brits are beginning to realise that this site is worth more than an overnight stop.
Reminder: You need an extension cable for most pitches.
It is 30 euro deposit for the barrier card now, but we were allowed to use our ACSI card as a deposit which was kept until our departure.

Stayed at this site a couple of times now on a motor bike, its very handy for the French MotoGP race at Le-Man. Its a couple of hours down from the Caen and the ferry. The site is approached down an incline to the reception where English is spoken, access is through a security barrier then you cross a small bridge to the site itself, which is peaceful and quiet there's plenty of wildlife, the pitches are large and bordered by bushes, other pitches back on to the river, there's also an overflow field, children's play area, the toilet and shower facilities are brilliant very modern clean and spacious, the site is inexpensive and used quite a bit by British travellers (understandably) a very well maintained spacious site, with helpful polite staff. Supermarket - bars - cafe's in easy walking distance.

We loved this site!
It is very tranquil especially if you get a river side pitch like we did but before you pitch up make sure your electric cable will reach the electric point. The shower/toilet facilities were very clean and modern and plenty of them. The washing up facilities were also indoors. There is a huge play field and play area for the kids to unwind after a long journey and it was safe for them to ride their bikes around the site. The only criticism I can think of is that the grass is allowed to get quite long on pitches before it is cut.
It only cost about 15 euros for the 5 of us.
Despite the narrow roads we had no problem finding the site as it is well signed from the main road and the traffic seemed quiet.
The lady on reception was really lovely and helpful. You can buy bagettes on a morning from reception but for anything else you have to walk to the local baker a short walk from the site. There is also a pizza place eat-in or take away across from the bakers.
The town itself is very pretty and worth a walk around it has a few bars, shops and a bank. There is a Super you supermarket in town with a very cheap filling station.
Overall we thought this site was perfect for us as an overnight stay and the majority of people were only overnighters although the couple next to us were staying for 2 weeks. I would definitely recommend this site and plan to return next year.

Lovely site in the centre of town with the River Sarthe running around the edge of the site. We only spent a night on our journey down to Cognac and on the way back.
The people who run the site are lovely and welcome you onto site and nothing is too much trouble.
There's plenty of things for the children to do on the play area, table tennis, volley ball and few amusements on the playground, all this is away from the majority of the camping areas.
The toilets are lovely and cleaned regularly from what we could see.
One downside which we found was that on quite a few pitches you need a very long lead, if not two put together, although the site wardens explained this to us and let us look around to find one near to a point.
The way into the site form the main road is a little tight but nothing too serious even for our large caravan and Kia Sedona even with a poor turning circle.
When you arrive at the site it's a narrow entrance and exit, single file traffic, with a security barrier on quite a steep slope with the office half way down.
Security is very good with not only a security barrier but the gates are chained after 11pm so no vehicular movement or noise at night.
Overall very peaceful and we shall definitely use this venue again and hope to stay a bit longer next time.

This site is all the things that other reviews said it was in terms of pleasantness of location, friendliness of staff and cleanliness of facilities, and these reviews were one of the main reasons I booked this campsite. However, one peculiar thing we found was the lack of places to eat in the town. We spent quite some time driving around the night we arrived as we were too tired to cook, and failed to find anywhere open. We ended up eating bread and salami which we had leftover from lunch. The next night we did find somewhere after turning up a few closed places, but it wasn't that great and quite expensive. For me, this was quite a downside to the campsite. Also, it was too big and crowded for my tastes and I think we would have been better trying to find a smaller farm-based campsite.

What more can one add to the previous reviews of this site, a little gem. Two super markets in the town, Super you which has a filling station and just on the northern outskirts Aldi. If you speak French then the newsagents/bookshop has free WIFI access.
Excellent butchers and bread shops. Good for cycle rides not too hilly. This is a site that is worthy of more than an overnight stop and a place we return to each year.
Mains extension lead is necessary for most pitches.
The most friendly `madame` warden ever!

We spent 21 nights at Beaumont-sur-Sarthe 7 just me and my wife and 14 with the grandchildren.
The site is around 20K north of Le Mans and what a fantastic site it is.
The facilities are spotless the Madam rules but with a lovely charm, superb lady.
Would recommend for all, big play area for the kids, river for the fishermen and a nice village a short walk away.
If you are going to the 24 hour at Le Mans ideal and a good bit cheaper than others.
Will be staying again without any doubt.

We stayed here for 2 nights on the way down to the Vendee. It's a gorgeous site in a lovely little town.
The pitches are generous, owners are lovely, really pretty surroundings, immaculate toilet & shower block, great kids play area. Perfect! Plus it only cost 33 Euros for 2 nights for 5 people!
We booked 2 nights so we could spend a day at the Le Mans 24 Hour museum & the circuit - both were well worth the visit!
We'll definitely be making Beaumont Sur Sarthe a regular stopover point for the future.
