Fantastic friendly campsite.

We had a great stay right by the beach in our camper van.
Excellent for birdwatching.
Highly recommended.

Fin, the manager, responded very quickly to my enquiry via ukcampsite. Co. Uk which I'd sent late at night for the next 2 nights, he phoned me the next day to book me in for that night and gave us a suggestion to visit the standing stones en route from Stornaway which was very helpful.
What a stunning position for a campsite! We arrived from the direction of Cliff and the view which greets you as you get over the hill is just fantastic. We were lucky to be allocated a pitch adjacent to the beach as we did not require EHU. The EHUs are more around the toilet block and don't have the views.
But still, the whole place is so scenic. We walked to the nearby villages of Valtos and Cliff and then over the hills back.
We also cycled to Uig Bay and visited the community centre museum and cafe there (so many home made cakes!), plus the well stocked shop/launderette
We booked for 2 nights but stayed 3. They prefer cash. I found the shower ok - I used the single toilet/shower around the side so you have more privacy and not just reliant on the curtain! The £1 for 3 minutes adequate and I have fairly long hair. The washing up sinks were great with lots of hot water. There was no hand soap in the toilets.
It's a bit like a campsite from 20 years ago I suppose but we loved staying there and would recommend and visit again.

Simply superb location with a fantastic beach and sea views. Lovely villages of Kneep and Bhaltos. Good walk to the cross and Norse Mill adjacent to the site. Bought some Bhaltos tweed which is very nicely woven.
Finn the campsite attendant is extremely friendly and keen to assist you.
Facilities basic and could do with an upgrade. Electricity points located very close together but all can be accommodated with extension leads and Finns assistance. Good shop and community cafe at Uig.
Don't be in a rush on arrival, park up take a walk to the beach and chill lout. You will have lots to enjoy.
Our 2nd visit and as always wished we had stayed longer

Beautiful site, by far the best views and we were lucky with the weather. Photos don't do it justice!
No information before arriving so sharing in case it's helpful - arrivals are assigned a pitch which you can find on a poster in the reception window.
You pay cash on arrival.
Showers are £1 & lasts 5min but bring extra, sometimes it took the money & didn't work!
Some of the seasonal pitch families are loud with drinking late into the night so if you're staying on a weekend you might not get the quiet you'd expect for somewhere very remote.

A beautiful location by the most stunning beach and surrounding headland, absolutely outstanding. Walking and swimming straight from the campsite, and at the end of September (last day of the season) we were 1 of only 2 vans there. Highly recommend swimming at the beach!
Finn was quick to respond by email and was welcoming when we met him too.
The site facilities are about as basic and minimum as you can get. 2 showers and toilets each for men and women, and showers cost extra - £1 coin per 3 mins. The water is hot but very weak spray, hard to rinse hair clean of shampoo!
The shower cubicles do not lock (curtains) and no private changing area, hooks outside 1 shower so impossible to get to your towel without exposing yourself to anyone else there! Given there are 50 pitches this seems like nowhere near enough facilities. No hooks or shelves for toiletries bags etc. 1 washing up sink only.
If you are happy with a basic site I’d highly recommend this for its superb location. If not, look elsewhere.

Idyllic location booked 1 night stayed 5.
Beautiful beach lovely walks well stocked community shop 3 miles away.
EHU if needed even lent us an extension cable.
Facilities although basic were always spotless and there was a kettle and sockets if you needed them to cook.
Fin who runs the site is the most helpful loveliest person you could wish to meet.
We will definitely return.

It’s fair to say that the facilities at the campsite, whilst adequate and clean, aren’t the same standard as other, flashier sites. BUT. That’s missing the point of this beautiful spot.
What a privilege to spend time here, I felt the world slip off my shoulders as I just stared at the view for hour after hour. And Fin was super-cheery, helpful and accommodating.
Wish I was back there now.
No shops, cafes or anything open in the area so get stocked up before arrival. The showers take £1 coins, they aren’t great by any means but better than nothing.
The electric hook up sites are furthest from the beach so we decided to forego EHU so we could see the beach on a site with no hook up.
There are new sites with EHU being developed but the electricity hadn’t been connected when we visited
