Having used the UKCampsite.co.uk reviews for searching out places thought it time I wrote a few up myself.
We absolutely love this site, often including Mull in a holiday just so we can visit. It is a bit like wild camping but on a site. Having our own facilities we park right down by the beach with the back of the van just a couple of yards from the sea. Spend hours watching the birds and watching the tide rise and fall.
Terrific walk across to the island at low tide by turning right when you leave the farm. It is like you are on an exotic island as you walk across. Great for a day trip over to Iona.
There are good facilities if you need them but we just use the water and chemical disposal point.

We found this campsite on UKCampsite.co.uk and had been looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.
It is everything the reviews say it is. The actual site is basic, with no hook-ups and a simple chemical disposal point. However the other features more than make up for this. The Shower / WC block is immaculate. The shower cubicles are roomy and the shower itself has the head on a removable hose (this saves me having to do a one handed handstand with legs splayed when rinsing the old undercarriage) sinks and loos all really clean. In the gents there is a chest freezer where you can freeze your cool blocks or store frozen goods, outside a couple of wall mounted taps supply drinking water. To book, simply call at the farmhouse and you will be greeted by pleasant friendly folk, who are all willing to help with advice and info.
Now for the site itself. Follow the road through the fence and over the cattle grid and WOW, take your pick. The site is in a bay and at low tide the beaches of white sand spread around lumps of rock which become mini islands at High tide. Depending where you pitch, you can have views of Iona, or further round the isle of Eraid and the small building belonging to the Findhorn Foundation. The water is crystal clear and if you choose your plot wisely can be only yards from your motorhome. We had our own little lagoon, with rock pools and boulders to sit on. We set up the Barbie and created our own little kitchen on the sand. Great fun. The views are seriously spectacular and we fell in love with the site straight away.
The village of Fionnphort ( pronounced Finnapert. I think)was one and a quarter miles away. We walked this most days and it took about 30 minutes. The village has a general store / post office and a pub/restaurant. The Iona ferry leaves from here as does the Staffa charter boats. Both trips are a must.
This is a superb site on a superb island. If I could I would give it 20/10.
Oh, by way. Don't forget to stop off at the Inverlussa Mussle farm on Lock Spelve. A kilo of the most freshest, tastiest mussels you could wish for. And at £1 per Kilo, a steal.

Was on a 'busman's holiday' (I work for the National Trust for Scotland) and spent 3 nights at Fidden very recently. Thought it was one of the best sites I've stayed at. Its open and rugged nature, combined with very well-drained grassy expanses meant that finding a level, suitable pitch with excellent prospects was incredibly easy.
The Toilet block as clean, if not a bit small (only 2 loos for gents) but clean - no real problems with waiting.
Cost was excellent value as far as I'm concerned - £7 per adult and £4 for kids (had my 2 boys with me). Even better, at least during my stay, was a general quiet period from 9pm onwards. No car stereos, no drunken sing-alongs. Fab.

We arrived at Fidden Farm, booked in at the farmhouse, and the lady did seem a little surprised when we said where we were going to aim for, and suggested going to the far side - there would be plenty of room. I am so glad we took her advice, the pitch we found was so beautiful with the sun shining on the glorious white sand that I actually cried (you have to understand that we have seen beautiful places in truly awful weather!)
Spent three nights here having originally planned one. Sunny days paddling on the gently shelving safe beach, rock pooling, visited Iona, walked along the coast up to the little hills then back along the road, cycled out to see what birds we could see at dusk.
There is plenty of space for everyone and part of the fun was watching everyone enjoying the water. Lovely clean facilities with plenty of hot water, never had to queue for a shower. Mull is extraordinarily beautiful & we will definitely go back with Fidden as a stopping point.

Wow, what an idyllic site?! White sands, pretty coves, over looking Iona - perfect! Facilities were excellent, toilet blocks very clean, plenty of hot water in the showers and dish washing area, great value for money, wish we could have stayed for longer. Easy access to water filling and chemical disposal points. Didn't even need to use the levelling blocks! Very close to Iona Ferry with free car parking facilities, also good shop and restaurants near ferry port.

This site has been on my list for four or five years. It looks stunning and I love Mull. We tried to book and continually called with no answer only because with a 3 month old baby we wanted to be certain that we would get in. Eventually we were told, don't worry it will be fine. Don't expect hook ups etc. The location is absolutely stunning, probably one of the best. However in mid-july, the facilities leave a little to be desired, mega-busy, I counted 75 units with only 2 toilets. Picture it as slightly upmarket wild-camping and you will not be disappointed. Caravan clubbers don't bother

A great site in a stunning location.
We stayed three nights here after visiting the north of the island.
Check in at farmhouse reception, £7 per adult, per night. Toilets, showers and dishwashing facilities are in building next to farmhouse.
You can pitch where you want and there are a few nooks and crannies along the little beaches where you can settle in to enjoy the views across to Iona. There was always a good, strong breeze blowing so it keep the midges away.
The facilities are a bit of a hike from the camping area (depending on where you pitch), and they are quite basic. With only two toilets and two showers, there can be a bit of a queue. Also, they could have been a bit cleaner. The toilets lacked loo roll on a couple of occasions, and there is a grotty old mop you're supposed to use for the showers - I didn't use it!
This site is a bit closer to 'wild' camping and is best appreciated for the location and scenery. You'll find basic amenities along in Fionnphort, a small shop and an OK pub serving meals.
Its a perfect base for those planning trips to Iona, Staffa etc.
This beautiful site is an absolute must when camping on Mull.

We spent two nights on this wonderful site. It is like wildcamping but with the benefits of a really nice facilities block as well. Lots of room to spread out and some wonderful views. We turned right as soon as we went through the gate into the camping field and pitched up on our won right next to the beach with a view of seals (everyone else on the site was further down the track). Pretty idyllic. Close enough to the village to walk in for tea or to the Iona ferry but far enough away to feel quiet and isolated. Lovely.

We arrived at Fidden Farm quite late with only an hours light left. The owners were really good and sorted us out quickly as to let us get pitched quickly.
Once we got pitched after a long day travelling I ventured to the toilets. Though it was a bit of a walk, it was outstanding. The condition of the toilets rival those of a high end hotel they are that good.
We woke up to the most spectacular views of the bay and really made our group look forward to the next few days of kayaking.
They let us leave our mini van there for a couple of days whilst we wild camped. When we got back, I pretty much ran over for a shower as they also are extremely luxurious.
If in the area, you must stay for the spectacular views and simplicity.

We came for one night on the strength of the previous reviews - and ended up cancelling our 'tour' and staying another three nights!
It's a fabulous place. Regulars told us it was the busiest they'd seen it, but you wouldn't know - there's so much space! In addition to the big field, there are all sorts of nooks and crannies in amongst the dunes and rocks where there's flat grass for a tent - these were *all* taken when we arrived! A very sociable place, too - only two showers and loos per gender, but most people were happy to chat while waiting.
Because there's so much space, noise isn't a problem. There were plenty of children but we hardly heard them.
It's a great and remote area to explore, and the sunsets can be breathtaking. We don't do any water-based stuff, but still found plenty to do.
The only downside was getting milk - the nearest shop is at Fionnaphort, about 30 minutes' walk away, but it does stock nearly everything. Do take a day trip over to Iona while you're there, it's well worth it.
We'll be back!
