What an amazing site! It took about an hour and a half to travel from the ferry at Craignure along a single track road.
The camping field goes up to the shoreline and we were able to park our camper van just a few feet from the beach. A wonderful beach with small coves and rock pools and a view looking out across the sea to Iona.
The showers/toilets/washrooms were all very modern and clean and the owners very welcoming.
We were the only visitors on site - everyone else must have heeded the weather warning, a slight breeze inland seems to equate to a howling gale on this exposed peninsular, we had a a rocky night but woke to blue skies and stunning 180 degree views.
Highly recommended!

You've heard of 'a room with a view' - well, this is a site with a view. We'd read about Fidden Farm on this very site, and it sounded like somewhere we'd like, so once we'd travelled from Cambridge to Mull and had a night to recover, we set out for Fidden on my husband's Harley Davidson, heaped with sleeping bags, mats and our faithful 23-year-old Spacepacker tent.
After 30 miles of single-track road that the Harley thoroughly enjoyed, we arrived at this stunning site, paid for two nights, and chose our pitch. As other contributors have said, you can pitch wherever you like; the field is massive, and a nice firm sandy soil with grass kept nicely cropped by the sheep that share it. And the view.! The site goes right down onto the beach - you could pitch there if you so desired. From there you can look out onto the Atlantic and a dramatic vista of huge tumbled granite boulders, with Iona over to the right. Some people had bought kayaks with them and paddled about in the bay, and it did look a lovely way to spend an evening!
Depending on where you pitch, it can be a very long walk to the facilities; some people used their cars, and others had bought pushbikes. The facilities themselves are terrific. The toilet and shower blocks are clean and new, with unlimited hot water at the press of a button; the washing up area is just inside the mens' bathroom (cast iron excuse to avoid washing up there, ladies!) with two sinks, only one of which has access to the hot water, but you can solve this by playing musical bowls with your neighbour.
The nearest shops are at Fionnphort, about a mile and a half away; they're small, but comprehensive.
We had planned to stay for longer, but after two nights we beat a rather ungraceful and very soggy retreat, chased by the unceasing rain-we had chosen a bad time to visit! However, with the excellent drainage and sandy soil, there was no problem with the pitches, even in the worst of the downpour.
We will go again - after all, where else can you have a farmer on a quad bike and two collies rounding up the sheep around your tent?! But we'll check the forecast first!

A wonderful remote relaxed site. New toilet block very good. We found the reception quite easily - signed door at the far end of the farmhouse. (but maybe it has changed?)
One or 2 amendments to the campsite details on the website, which states shop and pub 5m away.
The village of Fionnport is about 1.5miles away and has good pub with restaurant (The Keel Row) and Post Office/general store - very well stocked. Also the campsite is on the shore - with a lovely sandy beach just a stumble away from the tent.
The sheep keep the grass well trimmed. We had lots of weather while we were there - high winds and heavy showers, but the ground drains quite quickly! Wellies might be a good thing to pack!

This is simply the most beautifully located campsite we have ever been to! We stayed there whilst on a touring trip of Scotand on our motorbike. The downside is the single track road all the way from the ferry at Craignure it took us over 2hours to do the 30 or so miles to the site but it was worth every minute of the journey! When booking in, pay at the white farm house on the left it is clearly signposted. Jimmy, the farmer just lets you go wherever you want and considering his flat fields spread along about 2 miles of coastline, there is a lot to choose from! We got a perfect pitch with astounding views out to the clear turquoise sea. Our two night stay soon turned into four as we soaked up the peace and tranquillity of the place. Lots of families around and children playing in the sea but it certainly did not feel like a Butlins camp everyone seemed to be there for the same purpose relax! It cost us £12 per night for the two of us, the bike and two man tent which was very cheap considering the views! The new shower block was fab free hot showers, clean toilets, dishwashing area and even a disabled toilet and shower! The only criticism is that there are only two showers and two toilets for the women and same for the men so sometimes there was a bit of a wait but just time it right and you can go straight in!
There is no shop on sight so buy supplies from Fionnphort which is about a mile and half down the road. The shop there has everything you could possibly need! There are also boat trips over to Iona (10 mins away) for about £4 or £5 return or you can get the boat trip to Staffa to see Fingals cave (well worth the visit we even saw a basking shark!) for about £20 per person and then get dropped at Iona on the way back! If you are a whisky drinker get your hands on some Iona single malt as they are stopping producing it at the end of the year! There is one pub in Fionnphort be warned that the locally brewed Isle of Mull ale is a touch on the pricey side though at £3.80 a bottle!
This campsite ranks as one of the best we have ever been to and we would have spent the whole holiday there if we could have! Will definitely be back in the future it really is a jewel in the crown!

Fidden Farm immediately goes into our list of favourite camp sites. We spent a whole week based here pottering around the island but always had somewhere with nice clean toilets and showers, somewhere a bit wild but close enough to the shop at Fionnphort for any necessities.
We did occasionally struggle in the weather, mostly the wind to which campers are very exposed. Just make sure you know your tent before you go, and take a windbreak with a heavy mallet.
The weather changes every half hour in that part of the world so don't worry too much. The heavy rain didn't cause us any flooding problems, although one or two others unwisely pitched in the few dips on the site didn't have such a good time.
The nearby wildlife is fantastic, we had a White-tailed Eagle fly over the campsite, and about a mile away Golden Eagles too. Wild About Mull wildlife tours will pick you up from Fidden Farm, and worth booking for anybody into things wild.
The wash block has just two sinks, but usually we didn't have to wait. There's a freezer too, and a plug for mobile phones - although no security so you leave it at your own risk. Better to turn it off, you can't get a reception on much of the island anyway.
Like previously noted, there are no midges at Fidden Farm. Instead the nasty surprise were the bloodsucking creatures in the water, sandhopper sized and biting. Still haven't found out what they were. Made paddling along the beach just a touch painful.
For the £6 for adults a night, you can't beat this site.

We'd been looking forward to staying here for some time and weren't disappointed. This is an unbeatable location.
The only difficulty was working out where to go to sign in. I noticed others arriving and looking a bit lost for a while. It is the white cottage set back a little from the road on the right where the road bends sharply left to got through the farm buildings.
The site was very busy but we still managed to find a space with excellent views across to Iona and out to sea. The site is grass but even after some heavy rain when we arrived the ground was firm enough for our largish motorhome and it wasn't hard to level up. The approach track was getting a bit muddy and rough but nothing too bad.
The place is refreshingly free from too many rules; e.G. Balls games are allowed, etc. It was pretty quiet and peaceful despite the numbers present. There is plenty of space for kids (of all ages) to play in away from the units.
This is a great location for using the beach and there were quite a few sea kayaks being launched.
The new toilet and shower block is excellent. The free showers are hot and the best we came across during our week away.

I'm not going to tell you how indescribably beautiful and wonderful this campsite is, you'll only go there. Have been twice, intend to keep going back for the rest of my days. The weather is truly Hebridean and since you're right on the beach nothing protects you from it. There is a reason that most of the campers are in vans at Fidden. That said, when the sun shines and the sheep are munching around your tent and the otters swim past the beach while you get your campfire going for the evening and you look across the turquoise sea to Iona you know that you are in the best place on the planet.

Magnificent! This is a campsite which suited our every need from the white sandy beaches and the turquoise sea to the gorgeous sunsets and views.
Once you pitched your tent wherever you wanted you were left to your own devices - which included having a fire (best to take or buy wood as there is none on the site).
It is a long way from Craignure and the single track roads mean that 20 miles can take up to 2 hrs driving - although the views are worth it. Just be prepared to be annoyed by people who don't say thanks for pulling over!
We didn't have any problem with midges at Fidden due to the the westerly breeze.
Places to visit include: the isle of Staffa (go with Gordon from Fionnphort in the blue and white boat and if on it early ask to be left on the island to be picked up later - we did and it made the day!) Puffins and gannets, shags and eider ducks aplenty. McKinnons cave is also great with a bit of a scramble over large boulders and listen out for the ghost of the piper who went in and never came out!

We introduced our MCC photographic group to this great site with all its Photographic opportunities, the terrific views to Iona & Erraid certainly make up for the basic facilities. Be prepared for a trek to the Elsan point! Having said this at £4 per person per night what more could you want? The Village shop/post office certainly stocks EVERYTHING you might need, at very reasonable prices too. Even 50p per 15mins On the internet, I overheard one customer say 'that's half the price charged in Tobermoray' There's a large free car park in front of the Columba Centre, where there is a St Columba Exhibition - you can even try on some replica monk Habits.

Can confirm what has been said previously.
This is a great site right by the beach and you can pitch wherever you like. Charges are £4 per person per night and £2 for children. Okay as there were only two of us but could be expensive if you have a large family. There are sheep in the same field so be careful if you have a dog. We had no problem with ours.
The road from the ferry is single track all the way but not difficult if you take your time. The wind can get up without notice so tie everything down well.
The views are stunning and we never saw a midge all the time we were there.
We will definitely go back.
