We stayed at Ulwell Cottage at the beginning of September just before the kiddies went back to school.
The site is just outside of Swanage and is positioned on a hill with stunning views, there are also static holiday homes on the site.
The site it is well mapped out with individual pitches which are numbered and allocated on booking. Our pitch wasn't the best situated on the site. We were positioned right at the beginning of the touring area on a corner in a raised position so we felt like we were on display to all that drove into the touring area.
There were some lovely pitches around the site in full sun and with some privacy, so my advice would be to do some homework before booking to find a pitch to suit.
The new shower block was a short distance away and was lovely however in just a few months of opening there were problems - taps not working, locks broke.
There is a lovely park to the side of the touring area for all the children to play and the site has an indoor pool which we did use and it was ok, the changing rooms could have been cleaner though. On one day it was raining and we decided to use the pool, one of the reasons we picked the site in case of rain. However the whole site had the same idea and it appeared that there was no lifeguard, apparently off sick and no real system for numbers being allowed in. By the time we got there a member of staff was stopping any more entries into the pool and couldn't say how long the wait would be so we decided to leave. Most public pools use a wrist band system to monitor usage and how people were allowed to use the pool without a lifeguard being present was a little worrying.
Overall a good base for the area.

We've stayed here 5 years on the trot, which should say something!
This year we took our tourer and had a fully serviced pitch - remember to take extra hose for this as it's great not to empty out the waste water.
Considering the amount of rain we've had, there was only a small amount of waterlogging, and none of it excessive.
As ever the site was immaculate, and our children feel very at home here, going to the park almost as soon as we arrived. I feel, here that I must apologise for the massive water fight instigated by my OH and enjoyed by all who took part! It's a measure of the kind of site this is that there were no complaints.
I have only one 'beef', and that is with the showers: for such an expensive site they use push buttons which give only a small burst of water, and as I found out, when people are using the covered washing-up facilities, you are left high and dry (and soapy!).
As I have reviewed this site previously, I can only reiterate that this is a fantastic site, and we've booked again for next year.

We had a lovely 10 night holiday at Ulwell park. The site was very clean, the toilet block was very clean, and the children's play area was perfect, even though our children are too old for playgrounds now. The surrounding area is just perfect for walking. We have a very energetic border collie/cross and needs lots of long walks, which this area provides. Beach is well within walking distance, although if you have very young children they may struggle. We have a double wheel base caravan and the campsite does have one drawback, and that is the pitches are not flat. So you MUST take levelling blocks or you will have major problems. The grass pitches do not have great drainage and several vehicles suffered after rain. The size of the pitches could be bigger but we had adequate room, but just not as much as on a Caravan club site. The bar allows dogs in so that was a great bonus and allowed us to venture out in the evening. We will definitely return next year though cos the area was exactly right for us, and this campsite is closest to everything required, shops, beach, hills, attractions. SPOT ON!

We stayed at this campsite for 7 nights. The pitch was one of the smaller ones but adequate.
The toilet block was clean and well maintained.
The kids enjoyed the park and spent most of their time at the site on it. The shop was well stocked and clean.
We only went to the bar one night for the children's entertainer and the children loved it. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
The pool was clean and usually busy.
We're fairly new to camping (2nd year) but really liked this site and will definitely go back.

We have just returned from a fortnight family holiday here.
The first week of the summer hols was great, the site was either full of retired folks or familys with small children, site was quite by 2200 hrs and was very friendly feeling.
Second week wasn't quite as nice as familys with teens took over, noise till 2300 hrs at the earliest some times later if they where returning from town with a belly full of beer!
The site is very nice, well laid out and plenty of space between each pitch, We had pitch 59 great if you've got little ones as it's totally enclosed (just don't pitch under the tree, as you'll get covered in bird poo)
Shower block was top notch, hot water no matter what time of the day, just a shame the other residents of the site couldn't have treated it with a bit more respect.
Play park is a little tired and dated
Swimming pool was good and the kids loved it.
Restaurant was ok, did try it once, was a little steep on price and the meal was so so.
Tuesday evenings is good as entertainment is put on for the kids, just a shame it's only once a week as the kids loved is a gave me and the missus 2 hours peace to sit back.
Most things in Swanage is pricey including parking, best to take the bus from outside the site, kids loved the open top bus, even if it was raining.
Just one recommendation if you are heading out the Weymouth on the main road, there is a pub just outside East Knighton called the Red Lion, they do fantastic meals all localy sourced food cooked in house.
To finnish off lovely site, lovely area, only down side was some of the other residents

Everyone before me seems to have given this site a really healthy rating. Maybe I'm just picky but I thought I’d give my view.
This is a hilly and undulating site, which is part touring, part static vans. Our pitch was quite sloped and took a considerable amount of work to get our van level.
May be a little extra passive lighting around the site would have helped, not enough to have caused a disturbance, just a little more so you could see your way to the loo block etc.
The loo block was new, clean and much better than many we have seen. However it only seemed to be cleaned (or certainly re-stocked) in the morning. Both ladies and gents ran out of loo roll some evenings and we witnessed people having to ask others in adjacent cubicles to be passed more loo roll. No soap in the sink dispensers in the evening, some broken taps etc – a bit petty I know, but I thought worth mentioning. This is not a cheap site to stay at and i’d hoped a little more attention had been paid to this.
The showers, whilst clean, were simply not hot enough. I used them at 0730 and they were powerful but when the remainder of the family (male and female) sauntered up at 0900ish, the shower water pressure was very feeble, and the cause of much discussion at the loo block with others having to use them.
The site shop doubles as the village shop and is well stocked. The fresh bread, rolls and pasties etc are truly excellent and better than any I’ve had in years.
The site is well located with a nice indoor pool, which has free access for campers. For those, unsure of the area, Swanage itself is a lovely traditional seaside resort with beautiful natural surroundings with cliff walks and sea views that simply refresh and inspire you.
We have been spoilt with places like East Fleet farm at Weymouth, Sun Valley at Mawgan Porth and Kenneggy Cove in Penzance. Each of those I would highly recommend but this one, well, put it this way, we won’t be returning.

This is one of the most scenic sites we have been to. We have just got back from a very wet week. We were on a grass pitch and it never got water logged. The site itself has views to the sea and of the stunning country side.
The showers and loos were always clean even with all the rain. The shop was well stocked, however it sometimes closed an hour earlier than advertised. The pub was ok but only opened in the evening and at lunch and children under 12 years had to stay in the conservatory. The menu was basic but tasty.
There was loads to do in the area. Weymouth, Poole Swanage and Bournemouth are worth a visit. Weymouth had a fab harbour and nothe fort was also worth a visit. Me and my daughter caught a bus into Bournemouth and for £11:00 return for us both not to be sniffed at. The bus stops right outside the site.
We also had fab days at monkey world and the boys loved the tank museum.
We had no TV reception which the children got used to !
All in all a good site in a great location.

Thank you Ulwell Cottage for reminding me what a fantastic place Swanage is.
I have not been to the area since I was, lets say a lot younger and on my return to this site I was not disappointed.
We arrived with two caravans, four adults and six teenagers.
This was the week ending with the royal wedding and what a great atmosphere the site created, with bunting everywhere and happy smiling faces all around.
The washroom's were in a fantastic condition as was the whole site.
Shopping on site was very good with the selection of cakes and breads and other goodies plentiful.
The pub staff were very friendly and the real ale served to perfection, food was'nt half bad either.
With only a thirty minute walk into Swanage and a bus service of quality to return having a cheeky pint out was always going to happen.
'We will be back', as Arnie used to say, to a site that has gone very high on our list.

Have recently returned from a weeks camping here with young family (4, 2 + 7mths) and very impressed by this site.
Pitches were generous and well landscaped so every pitch was flat.
Overall site was very family friendly with good toilet blocks that had family shower rooms, a well maintained indoor swimming pool and playground/sportsfield (Play equipment a little 'tired' but useable).
Location good as within very short drive of Swanage and Studland beaches and not far to Corfe castle. Swanage is probably walkable without toddlers.
Would recommend site and will most likely return when next visiting the area.

Lovely well maintained site with stunning hillside backdrops. When we arrived we weren't overly happy with the pitch we were given and all credit to the management they allowed us to switch to another without any fuss.
Shop was well stocked (its the village shop), didn't try the bar or restaurant although they looked nice (if a little on the steep side).
Swimming pool was nice a bit on the small side but we had it to ourselves on a couple of occasions.
The toilet and shower block has to be the best and cleanest at any site we've ever stayed at. There are some nice walks across the surrounding Purbrecks and Swanage is about a half hour walk into town. Swanage is a really nice little seaside town with a nice beach.
We stayed for a week and had the best weather possible, site was about half full and nice and quiet most of the week, however it soon filled up at the end of the week (bank hol weekend)
