Very easy to find, reception staff friendly and helpful. Pitches are clean, mostly very level and close to the amenities blocks. Washing up facilities all under cover, showers hot and plentiful, toilet block very clean and tidy. Swimming pool on site was a huge bonus for the children and a good play area too. We were a large party (of 10) with 5 pitches, all located next to each other which was lovely. Restaurant on site is very good, caters for children, bit pricey but still reasonable. We will most definitely be back!

Just returned from a weekend here and we had an excellent time.
My initial enquiry was via e-mail and the service was both friendly and efficient, upon arrival we were invited to drive around and choose our pitch, and the lady on the desk even pointed out that there had been a localised shower the previous evening and as such one or two of the pitches were a bit 'soggy'!
We were one of only three tents on site, maybe a couple of dozen caravans and a few camper vans, so it was not busy. The girls were soon running around a marvelous large field, which had a few swings in one corner and a shallow stream for some serious dam construction, which felt completely safe. Dogs were walked off site along a series of paths that crossed the magnificent hills, it was a beautiful place to spend a weekend and the sea could be seen in the other direction.
There is a pub on site but the changes in the licensing laws appear to have passed them by. Children under 12 are not allowed in the bar and it keeps the pub hours that I remember from the 1970's, sadly without the bar prices that I recall. A pint of the house bitter and a Pepsi in a small bottle for £4 meant that we did our drinking slowly. The food was very much at the pricey end of the spectrum for pub grub and it was probably gorgeous, sadly we could not really afford to eat there, so I cannot comment.
The shower block was clean but dated, however the hot water was plentiful and the block was well lit at night, so nothing to complain about. Just needs a lick of paint and a few new fixtures.
It is quite a march into town, if driving then remember that the car parks are not really competitively priced (£1 an hour, minimum stay 2 hours, no change given!) and the traffic wardens go around in pairs, but the taxi office at the station was manned by a very pleasant and helpful lady and the trip back was £6 for five of us. There is a Threshers bottle shop here which is very handy!
You are about 4 miles from the amazing Corfe Castle and the office is full of leaflets detailing the local attractions so I cannot imagine being bored here.
To summarise, a great little site, sloping pitches notwithstanding, helpful friendly staff, reasonable facilities and plenty of space for running off energy. Or just sit back and watch others running around, like I did, listening to the bird song, occasionally hearing the whistle of the steam trains.
We are going back this weekend!

We visited Ulwell Cottage around 11 years ago, without children so we thought it was time to return.Booking ahead was easy, the staff were all polite and friendly, we had a choice of around 3 pitches, due to the size of our tent, however we were informed that from next season the top pitches would be available, as they had not long been turfed, so maybe next year the rest of the family could all book together. We found the site extremely well kept, and all the facilities clean, the kids loved the vast expanse of the play area, and the big kids amongst us also (great area for flying kites), its great that they kept this large area for playing, after all they could use it for extra pitches. We love Swanage, and surrounding area it feels like a bygone England, lovely beaches to explore and none of the hustle and bustle associated with some other seaside resorts. All in all we will return to Ulwell Cottage for many years to come.

A lovely site, really well situated and well kept. It feels like you are in the middle of the countryside when you are in fact right on the outskirts of Swanage, with an easy cycle into the town centre. Facilities were good - nice clean loos & showers, a decent enough shop and a bar on site. The site is hilly but they have obviously made a lot of effort to terrace the pitches so they are level. One (minor!) criticism is that the loos were closed at 5.30am one morning for cleaning; I would have thought they could have at least kept the disabled loo open for those of us who had dragged themselves out of bed because we needed to go! Also the hand dryer in the ladies is set really high up the wall - presumably so you can dry your hair under it? - but it just means that drips run down your arms when you are drying your hands. (I know this is getting picky now!) Honestly it is a great site and we will definitely be back.

This is one of the nicest sites that we have stayed at and shall be returning to. The site was immaculate. We stayed on an all service pitch sometimes using the toilets and showers but they were always clean. The small pub was warm and welcoming, staff very friendly. We reported a fault with our water tap late one day and it was repaired first thing the next morning. The site is an ideal location as the lovely family friendly town of Swanage is just a short drive away or a half hour walk. Nice sandy beach. Studland beach is in the opposite direction, miles of sand dunes and sandy beach. Bournemouth and Poole are easily accessible via the chain ferry. Countryside views all around site Definately worth a visit. We took our dog with us, although there is not a dog walk on site just at the back of the site there is access to fields (mind the cows)!

Nice, clean site with massive field for the children to play in. Had a small climbing/play area. The kids really enjoyed the pool. The surrounding area is really good, especially the beaches, Corfe Castle and Sandbanks.
Pretty difficult to get our van on to the site as part of it is on a really steep hill with not enough turning circle to back the van in. If we hadn't had a motor mover we would have asked to move pitches. There were lots of easier pitches we were just unlucky - avoid Pitch 68 (see Map on their web site) unless you have a motorhome.
The pub lunch meal was pretty expensive, although had the fastest service I've ever seen.
We will return as its a great part of the world and the site is well kept.

Stopped for one night only, but this site was clean, neat and tidy, the staff in reception were friendly, and the toilets very clean and pleasant to use. Only slight niggles were that on the pitch I stayed on it was a little difficult to manoeuvre in and out and I only drive a campervan, anything bigger would really struggle, and while not all pitched are like this, there are a few. The TV reception was poor and there were not many drinking water taps. This is however, a good site to stop at, the imposing Purbeck Hills almost appear to tower over the site, which gives it a different feel, you're only a short drive or a slightly longer walk from the quaint if a little run down town of Swanage. It is however, the surrounding countryside and coast that make a trip to this part of the world worthwhile. Corfe and it's castle, whilst in ruins is dramatic and picturesque at the same time, and the coastal road from Swanage through Studland to Poole harbour is almost evocative of southwestern France, and this was experienced on a cold March day.

This is quite a large commercial site with a lot of static caravans, but still plenty of room for tents and tourers. The toilet blocks are clean and well maintained but are quite a way from the furthest camping pitches and the gents was not lit at night, (although this may have been a problem that had not been reported.) a nice clean site generally, but you should take levelling blocks as a lot of the pitches are uneven.it has a small pool and a very nice pub ,(which seems a little small for the size of the site in peak season).Swanage is an adorable little town, right on your doorstep and the beaches at Studland are some of the best I have seen .All of this tucked in by the Purbeck hills makes quite a stunning location for an English summer holiday

A lovely quiet site. Excellent kids play area - lots of room to play football. Hot spacious showers, clean. Well stocked shop. Indoor pool - small changing area and very hot (but not in the water!) Didnt try the on site restaurant. Only prob we had was the condition of the pitch - but we didnt complain about it at the time, so I dont know whether they are good at dealing with problems or not!

Top site! we had number pitch 33 a fully serviced hard standing pitch. Take you rockpegs if you do the same! Showers are clean and walm, if a little under-lit in the cubicals. Food in the on site pub is sound and all staff are friendly. The swimming pool is great, our kids had a great time. Loads of attractions for the kids within 40min drive of the site.
