This could and should be a great site but I feel that several things let it down especially when you consider the high cost per night. We have stayed there several times due to its location. We have experienced every time problems with the water temperature in the showers either cold or far to hot (almost scolding). When the site is full it sruggles to cope especially when you have the large tents with up to 10 people per pitch. Some of the pitches for caravans are difficult to get on and level the van. Some hardstandings are very small and need updating. TV reception is very poor could do with a booster system. Having said this the site with a bit of investment could be really excellent

Spent 1 week here in July. First visit to this site which has good amenities and excellent walks. A little spoilt by noise from parties of younger campers but the layout and pitch allocation doesn't help. The staff seemed to handle most compliants well even asking one group to leave the site. Would re-visit but be more selective on pitch.

July 2004 Having read some of the other reviews I think this site must have improved because I found it to be first class. My first real camping trip and the start of the school holidays as well, but I arrived mid-week without a booking and fortunately there was a tent pitch available. The staff in the modern reception were very courteous and insisted I inspected the pitch before I accepted it. It was ideal - being situated in a quiet part of the site partly shaded by trees with only one drawback - it was right next to the children's play area although this did not prove to be a problem.
A very clean and tidy site with modern, clean washroom, showers, and toilets. The cleanliness did seem to deteriorate even though they were cleaned a couple of times during my three day stay but this was due to untidy campers rather than neglect by the site staff.
I was camping alone but in a 4 man tent and the fee was £8.50 a night which included unlimited use of the indoor swimming pool. The shop and bar/restaurant were excellent and the staff extremely friendly. Drinks were in fact cheaper than I normally pay at my own local but the menu food was a little expensive. However - eating in Swanage having paid the extortionate car parking fees in the town would have been considerably more expensive!
In my opinion - a first class site in beautiful surroundings, ideally situated for Swanage, Studland, Corfe Castle, and the coastal walks.

August 2004 This was our first summer camping trip so we were not sure what to expect. The site was very clean and tidy but the pitches were a bit hilly. We were pitching a large tent and there was no where on our pitch where we could put a table and chairs without drinks sliding off. We found that very annoying!! We were the only tent amongst caravans where there is the option to dine indoors on a level table! The play area for the children was great and never that busy. The showers were a bit hit and miss. Some days they were freezing and other days the water was scolding hot, so much so you could not safely take a shower. The weather was fantastic so that made up for the other annoying things. Never went to the pub on site as the prices were very high for basic pub grub. The shop sold far too many toys and not enough food for me so didn't take the kids with me that often!!

Good site, but it gets booked up quickly. You have to pay extra to use the pool, but this does provide a life guard, and is never packed. Good location, with excellent walking and a short (5 min) drive to one of the Uk's premier beaches, Studland Bay.

We were there in the October half term week last year. It wasn't over crowded at the time, and the facilities were good. If it's wet, grab a hard standing...the grass pitches can be tricky to escape from, as some slopes can be deceptive. There is a tractor on site, should the worst happen :-)
A friendly place, adequate shop, good [free] small indoor pool, and nice on site pub/restaurant. Toilet/shower blocks clean with large cubicles, washing up area, and launderette. Access/egress can be tricky with the 'van in tow...beware of grounding at the exit. Advise levelling blocks for some pitches. Good walking country, but paths likely to flood in heavy rain.
