I have 2 children aged 10 & 16 and out of all the sites we have stayed at they reckon this is the best. This is a fairly small site with a mixture of static - touring caravans and tents pitch sizes vary from small to adequate and most are gently sloping.
The toilet block was always clean and we never had any problems with the hot water in the showers. We stayed for a week over the August bank holiday and while the site was full to capacity it never felt over crowded. This is quite an expensive site to stay at but Swanage is only a short walk away and it is in a delightful setting so is well worth a visit

Simply the best campsite we have found to date.
A well stocked shop, clean and tidy site. The bar and takeaway area are easy to reach from anywhere on the site and were always busy but not crowded.
The toilet block was kept clean tidy and warm as we had picked the wettest coldest August week in years but none the less the site stayed dry did not get boggy and was a great base.
The pool was open for around 12 hours a day and got busy at times when it rained BUT never uncomfortably full. Communal changing rooms which got busy though !
Great park and play area for the children to let off their energy adn a great view from the hill at the rear of the park (Be warned it is a steep climb to get the view though)
Staff were friendly helpful and very accommodating with any gripes and groans which were quickly sorted.
All in all a place we will return to (Lots).

We attended this site with friends and don't live that far away so we know Swanage well.
We paid £36 for 2 nights on a grassed pitch with electric hook up.
The toilets were spotless on arrival but unfortunately some of the residents hadnt learnt to flush toilets apparently and on Sunday morning it was difficult to find one that could be used! Cleaning occurs every afternoon. Ulwell have spent a lot of money on their toilet and washing facilities. Its such a shame we customers cant treat them with more respect.
There is an indoor pool with lifeguards on duty, a nice shop and a pub all on site.
Staff were friendly and the whole site had a nice appeal to it.
Plenty of space and very well laid out.
Swanage and the surrounding area are excellent for families as well as couples and individuals. Plenty to see and do, which is why we often find ourselves here. Basically an east Dorset version of Lyme Regis!

The site is set at the bottom of two impressive hills which were frequently used by walkers and for dog exercising. They lend a perfect backdrop to a wonderful site.
On arrival the friendly staff directed us quickly to our site with the help of a map which had camp information attached to it. The reception area housed an impressive array of local information.
Our pitch was lovely, fairly near the loos, water, waste/chemical disposal and was lovely and roomy, plenty of room for caravan, full awning and estate car plus room for outdoor sitting. It was also very level and no chocks were needed, but on some pitches this may be advisable. We would have had room to put our sleeping pod on the awning but didn't need it this trip.
Toilet/shower facilities are very good. The main block contains separate ladies/gents facilities, a good disabled room and a family room. At the front of the block are two separate washing up areas and attached is a laundry room.
The toilets are either separate or a couple of the cubicles have wash basins in them. Plenty of washbasins, mirrors, hand driers and two free hairdriers. The showers are ok, but are the 8 second button type. The showers in the ladies block are heat adjustable but by husband mentioned that this is not so in the mens and the water is cool.
The village inn, shop and indoor pool are at the entrance of the park (the touring park is the opposite end) and it is quite a hilly walk! This is past the static caravans which are all named individually, quite a nice touch we thought.
The village inn is good. Bar prices are not too bad and the food was fairly well priced. I thought the food was good, (my husband was not overly impressed), but the service was good and the food very hot.
We didn't use the pool but it was quite busy when we looked in and I would think on a wet day this is a huge plus on this site.
The shop is excellent - very well stocked and priced and sells quite a lot of camping gear.
Swanage is quite a walk down a very steep hill - we drove!, but it is a lovely town, with excellent shops, pubs and resturants. It has a good beach for the summer and lovely views over the bay. Studland is about 3 miles in the opposite direction and a ferry runs over to Sandbanks, which then is a short drive to Poole Quay which is a great place to visit. This is where the Poole Pottery shop is, the Sunseeker factory, The Ginger Pop Shop (very Enid Blyton and great fun) and trips to Browsea Island.
Ulwell is in a fantastic area for visiting the beautiful Isle of Purbeck which has some of the most (I think) beautiful Dorset scenery and is a perfect base for a good holiday.
The only slight gripe I would have is the price per pitch per night - £42 ouch - but this does seem to include everything, awnings etc. Out of season it is excellent value.
This site was not our first choice site in this beautiful area, but it is a real gem and we will be returning again shortly.

Ulwell Caravan Park is in a lovely spot, nestled among the hills near Swanage. Nearby are Corfe Castle and the sheltered beaches of Studland.
The site is well maintained. The Village Inn offers good food and there is also a take away and well-stocked shop. Not cheap but, bearing in mind the captive audience, not too pricey.
Our kids loved the pool and went in twice a day. The lifeguards were friendly and fun.
The toilet/shower block was nice, clean and fairly warm. However, the push-button shower delivering luke-warm water in 10 second bursts was infuriating. It wasn't fun trying to shampoo and rinse my hair and hold the button in with my elbow.
On the second to last day, after a week of spectacular downpours had left the site muddy in places, the team came round with woodchips, which was helpful.
A really good site in a wonderful location. We are already thinking of returning next year.

We have just spent 2 weeks at this site. The pitches are a good size and level. The campsite itself is fairly small and although there are also lots of statics here, the campsite feels quite separate.
The toilets and showers are clean and we never had to queue but my gripe is that I never had a hot shower in 2 weeks. The water was lukewarm at best and nearer cold during the second week. Not only that, but all the shower heads in the mens & ladies had been removed half way through our second week which meant a very fierce jet of water, unsuitable for young children.
The showers are push button which is fine usually but the longest they stay on for is 14 seconds and one I used stayed on for only 7 - hair washing took some time! I queried these points with Reception but they were unable to give me any info re the shower heads other than saying they'd look into it and said the temperature had probably been turned down as people with sunburn complain when the water is too hot! Trouble is, the water wasn't hot in the first place!
This aside, we did have a lovely stay and would use the site again, but only because there isn't another site in Swanage to rival it.
At over £40 a night, hot showers should be available.
The children enjoyed the pool, which does have showers with hot water and there is a nice recreation area. We didn't use the Village Inn.
The surrounding area is lovely and it was good to see not much has changed in Swanage since I visited as a child.
Can't wait for our next visit!

I have been coming to ulwell since I was a baby and loved every minute it so we went back and took my 3 young children. Lovely site, the children loved the play park and the swimming pool
Didn't go in to the Village Inn but got a takeaway from there which was really nice. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean and even had a very big sink which we could bath our children in
We loved every minute of our stay and we will definitely be coming back again

The location is beautiful with a view out to swanage bay. You can climb the hill behind the campsite and get even better views. The site is on a hill and our pitch was slightly sloped. Other pitches had been levelled off well. Most of the pitches seemed fine apart from the one opposite the shower / toilet block which would have been very noisy I think.
The pitch was quite spacious. We did suffer a bit with rowdy neighbours, but that could happen anywhere. They were quiet by 11pm so we had no need to talk to the staff. We had one very wet day and the campsite was very well drained.
The facilities were adequate although on occasion the toilets were messy and one had a broken lock and another a loose seat which were not fixed while we were there. They were also a bit smelly probably as the block is heated and not ventilated.
The showers were OK, tho water pressure and temp not reliable at busy times. That said, there are 2 family shower rooms which were great and we never had to queue. They could really do with a low hand basin for children as it gets annoying having to lift 3 kids up to wash their hands.
The only other criticism is that the bins were almost overflowing and didn't get emptied soon enough.
The swimming pool is small but good and very warm. There is a limit on numbers so we did have to queue one time to get in but to be honest we didn't use it that much. The life guards were very good. Our children enjoyed the playground which has a slide, swings and climbing frame and loads of room to run around.
We didn't use the Village Inn apart from 1 morning for a very expensive and small coffee! The shop was good and had everything we needed.
We would definitely use this site again.

This is a nice site situated just outside Swanage with lovely views of the Purbeck Hills rising up behind. It takes about 20/25 minutes downhill to walk in to Swanage itself or there is an hourly bus service from the stop outside the camp.
The loo blocks were spotless with free hairdryers and the shop was well stocked with all the essentials plus scrummy Dorset apple cake. There are quite a lot of static vans but it didn't feel like a massive site, quite pleasant really.
The bus outside the camp goes to Poole/Bournemouth via Studland and the Sandbanks ferry which is a nice trip for £6.60 return.
Now for a minor criticism. The site was relatively empty when we got there but filled up considerably on the Friday. Some of the grass pitches at the top of the field are pretty unlevel and whilst we were fine on Pitch 12, some of the later arriving campers were having trouble. Some of the tents in particular were erected far too close (and I mean close) to each other and there were some not so happy campers to be seen. Maybe it would be an idea to have someone showing arrivals to their pitch, as on other sites, to prevent this happening.
I enjoyed my stay. Swanage is a favourite of mine.,. A bit old fashioned but there is nothing wrong with that. The beach is lovely and there is lots to do.Ride the steam train to Corfe Castle, walk the hills or just sit on the pier and stuff yourself with Lovingtons ice cream!

I booked this campsite for 3 nights over the early May bank holiday on recommendation by my sister and it certainly lived up to all expectations.
We arrived Friday evening, slightly apprehensive that the pitch might be too cramped for our rather large tent (Cabanon Biscaya 500 - 8m x 5m), car and trailer. The lady in reception had told us that we wouldn't have any problems and she was right. The pitch provided was fine and we had plenty of room. Our only quest was to get the tent up before the heavens opened. Luckily for us we did manage this and despite heavy rain both Friday evening, Saturday night and Sunday morning the pitch was well drained so no soggy areas.
The site was laid out with all facilities within a few minutes stroll from each pitch. The toilet block was very modern and adequate, although the water pressure was quite low which resulted in the shower water turning into a trickle if all were in operation. This meant showering took longer, though we didn't feel this was a major issue, and it certainly didn't put us off.
The washing up area was fine, very large sinks indeed, with plenty of hot water. The shop supplied all the provisions that you could need and the prices were reasonable and comparable to a supermarket. It even supplied fresh bread, of which my son loved with his morning bacon butty!
My son did check out the play area and although he was a bit too old for this he informed me there was plenty of space to let off steam and a great slide to play on. We didn’t get the opportunity to use the pool nor the Village Inn pub as we were too busy doing other things but both looked welcoming and popular which is a good sign.
The site allows dogs, and does ask that dogs be kept on leads at all times.
The campsite itself it situated in the middle of the Purbeck Hills. A very beautiful and peaceful setting. It took 5 hours to drive to from our hometown on a Friday afternoon, with the drive from Poole taking about 40 minutes, but it was worth it. It was lovely to sit and take in the peace and quiet and just look at the view. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side so we didn’t undertake the many walks available.
We did however cycle to Swanage and back. It took about 30 minutes each way. Be warned it’s up hill coming back but manageable. Swanage offers lots – the beach, shops and restaurants. We managed a cream tea before our return cycle ride. During the rest of our stay we visited two National Trust properties, Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacey. Both well worth a visit, the latter suitable for those rainy days. We also viewed the very expensive houses in Sandbanks, taking the chain ferry over from Studland Bay.
All in all, our entire trip was a success, despite the rain and exceptional cold May weather. We all came back smiling and are already planning our next trip to this campsite. There is so much to do in the surrounding area but one thing I’m really looking forward to is sitting in the sun (fingers crossed) outside my tent and taking in the wonderful views this campsite has to offer.
