This was our second week away in North Devon & we chose this site for its location, 1 mile to Saunton sands, 2 miles to Croyde & 1 mile to the lovely very large village of Braunton.

On arrival we were an hour or so early but made very welcome by the friendly staff. We were shown our pitch on the map & set off to find it (we had chosen this from their online map of the park at the time of booking). Well our pitch as all of them were was the largest pitch I have ever used! at approx 10m x 10m we could fit our caravan, awning & 2 cars + still we had more space!

The shower facilities were cleaned once per day but also appeared to get an extra brush up in the evening before the staff retired for the night! The shower block appeared to be a converted stable block & was absolutely fine, no complaints from the Mrs side either!

The site got busy over the weekends with surfers but everyone was friendly & their was a nice family atmosphere, it was also generally quiet.

At just over £100 for 7 nights this is a lovely site & we would have no hesitation in using this site in the future.

We stayed for a weekend with some friends in order to celebrate a birthday. Overall it was a nice site with decent facilities and well placed for exploring the local area.

Some of the reviews of this site have mentioned how lovely and level the pitches were. I'd agree that in the bottom field, where the caravans were, this is true.

However, in the second field this was most definitely not the case. The field we were in in sloped pretty steeply and wasn't ideal for tents - we rolled out of bed and things kept sliding off tables etc. Also the paths in this field were quite uneven and stony so if you have difficulty walking I'd try and request the bottom field.

The toilets and showers were nice and clean although the water wasn't particularly warm - there was a sign saying that in busy periods there may be a shortage of hot water. There were plenty of washing up sinks as well.

My main complaint would be the noise - although the rules state that everyone must be quiet after 11pm this didn't happen and also didn't seem to be enforced. T

Saunton Beach is fantastic with a decent sized car park (£6 for the day) and I'd definitely recommend the hotel up on the cliff. We went there for 'afternoon tea' which was a real treat and the views from the terrace were stunning. Definitely worth doing for a special occasion! There was a really good staff presence on the site and they regulalry drove round emptying the bins etc. But maybe could've done more about the noise.

One last note is that you have to be off the pitch at 10. 30 which is fair enough but they definitely enforce this - we were told to hurry up when we overran a little!

Was a last minute booking for whit week and was very impressed.

Pitches are huge and flat, I have 10 man tent and fitted in easily, friends we went with have a 8 man tent and could also fit a pup tent in.

It is great for people with children, has a playground that we were opposite that had swings and climbing frame always children playing on or a game of football / cricket breaking out.

Dog walk was 300 yardish walk down the side of site, but there is a huge field at top of the site that you can let your dog off for a run we played cricket there every evening as well

Toilet block ok, couple of times mucky footprints but that is over people not using the mop that is provided.Showers were warm and free with push button

Cafe only used a couple of times.Sausage and egg batch £3-00 but my daughter made her own breakfast up of sausage, beans and egg and it was £1-30.And was very nice

Freezer blocks are available but it does cost 50p, maybe common practice but after visiting 10 different campsites it is the first time I have been charged

Is a local shop about 5 mins walk that sells everything you would want from a local shop

You can walk into town very easily in 20 minutes that has a few pubs, a great chippie called squires, a couple of banks

A great area of the country, woolcombe bay is a fantastic place to go and has an area for dog owners to go on the beach also has loads of space

I thought it was great value for money and yes would go again

Very level site outside the town - approx 1 mile from the centre. Site drains exceptionally well!

Very friendly reception. Site has small cafe/food stall.

Toilet/showers when I was there not the cleanest I've seen but, to be fair the site was full and the weather awful.

If, as I did, you are going to this site whilst trekking the South West Coastal Path, suggest (unless you wish to go to Tescos/shopping in Braunton) you consider approaching the site from Saunton rather than the Braunton Island shown in most guiides as the 'stage end'.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at lobb fields. Overall it is a very friendly, well organised site. Clean toilets and showers (plenty of hot water). Nearest beach is Saunton (5 min in car) lovely surfing beach but a bit pricey at £6.00 to park.(Dog friendly though)

Croyde beach was lovely but very busy but be warned no dos allowed between May to Sep. We ended up going to pittsburgh beach 3 miles or so from croyde as we like to take our dog on the beach and boy we were not disappointed.

Pittsburgh beach was beautiful, clean and had parking facilities. There is a beach cafe there selling hot and cold food and drink plus ice creams etc. We spent the whole day there it was glorious. We would love to return to that area again.

We would recommend lobb fields to anybody wishing to stay at a family friendly campsite within easy reach of North devons beautiful beaches.

Stayed for two nights. Spacious mainly grass (some hard) pitches. Friendly smiling staff. No shop. Toilets/Showers OK but a bit dated and they're not central so worth those with walking difficulty asking for a pitch close to them.

Vans and tents in bottom field which gives good atmosphere and wasn't too noisy. Middle/upper fields predominantly tents. Good access and close to some good beaches. An evening walk to Braunton for Fish & Chips at Squires well worth it.

Lobb Fields was our first camping experience. New tent, new equipment and new friends. We stayed in the middle field with our two dogs. The site was fantastic. Clean, well marked out and very spacious (We have a large tent).

Everybody we spoke to were really friendly and helpful. The showers were always clean and always hot and never busy. Toilets were also clean and never busy.

Plenty of footpaths around for dog walking especially near the military zone (might want to keep the dogs on leads round that bit). We hope to be visiting again as we really enjoyed our time there.

Stayed here 2-3 times, big site, has excellent facilities, close to many fantastic places & beaches. I know this area well as I lived here for over 2 years, I had to come back & visit the old haunts.

Must see places are: Putsborough Beach

Narrow approach road, will not suit large vehicles as the approach roach is a very narrow single track! few passing places, fabulous beach though!

Braunton Burrows

Valley of the rocks

The Thatch (fab pub the allows dogs in)! Croyde:

Lynmouth

If a good Sunday lunch is what you like then try The Williams Arms

Braunton: Claimed to be the largest village in the UK, lots of nice shops (can be expensive). If you like good fish & chips then there is only one place to visit. 'Squires', can be very busy with large queues but worth the wait! Also there is a good (but expensive) Indian takeaway and a good Chinese take away. Plenty of pubs. A good pub for live music etc is The White Lion

Barnstaple Pannier Market

There is a fabulous greasy spoon cafe in this market (bottom left corner of the market) Looks a bit rough & ready but the food is excellent!

Barnstaple is an excellent place to shop, has everything you could possibly want, though be aware the traffic can be horrendous especially in the summertime. Though the new ring road should improve the traffic a lot.

My only gripe about this campsite is the noise, I like my peace & quiet, I personally don't like campsites with kids & teenagers, the noise here can last most of the night, lots of drunken beach bums etc, given the size of this site it is to be expected. This is not a site for peace and tranquillity but a perfect base to explore the local area.

Fantastic site, thoroughly recommend it to all, the pitch we had was of a great size with electric, very close to the many water supplies. Owners and staff friendly and very helpful - they were always busy, cleaning, cutting grass, hedge trimming.

Toilets and showers (Middle field) were always clean and tidy, always plenty of toilet roll (very important!).

Views from the right pitch are lovely over Braunton Burrows.

Took the dog with us, all pubs are very friendly towards them in and around Braunton and the local beaches (Saunton, Woolacombe) accept them too.

What a great site, lots of space (although I can imagen it gets very busy) All of the staff were friendly, chatty & helpful too. Although the shower blocks are not new and modern, they were always clean.

Didn't use the snack van but it smelt wonderful! A 10-15 min walk takes your into Braunton itself, The Aggi Inn is a must - lovely food. We also cycled the Tarka Trail whilst we were here and Lobb Fields is an excellent location for this. Can't wait to return again and again.
